Culpepper Steak House Ratings and Reviews
We have been going to Culpeppers for years and it is consistently very good. It is very unique and the ambiance is great. The bar is very warm and inviting and always has good bands on the weekends. A nice place to relax and have a drink and the music isn't too loud. The food is always excellent and the servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Will continue to go there for a really nice meal.
We booked an early dinner for New Year's Eve. We did not know there was a prix fixe menu for the evening. The choices were nice and the food excellent - it was just surprise to find they didn't have regular menu available. We were seated at a table near the lobby and it was bone chilling cold outside. Everytime someone came in the door they kept it open for folks to come in and about froze us out. It would have been good to have a hostess at that controlling the length of time it was open. Overall it was great though and we will definitely be back - best steak place in Rockwall with nice ambiance!
We celebrated New Year's Eve at The Culpepper Steak House with a delicious meal, good wine, lovely atmosphere and a wonderful dessert. From the moment we were greeted by the Hostess, to a glass of wine at the bar before our dinner we were already feeling pampered. The Lobster Bisque is wonderful, and so is the Prime Rib, Steak and Lobster. Our lovely evening ending with a fabulous tasting dessert and presentation.
The host waited on us and we changed arrival time 3x. We had drinks at the bar and a booth waiting for us when we got there. Live music!!!! Management checked on us 3x in one seating, food was fresh, made with love and some more love. The waiter never let us have a dull moment. The ambiance gave me a high class southern feel. I will go back!
My husband and I ordered the porterhouse for two and had it cooked medium. It was one of the best steaks I’ve very had! The au jus and topping were phenomenal. The price wasn’t terrible since it was for two, and we had leftovers too! It’s the best ambience in town too.
This is a very cool venue wasted on a wannabe high end steakhouse. The place was dead and the food just doesn’t compare with the big boys. Simply misses the mark on “fine dinning”. Do us all a favor and revert to a more casual menu that pairs better with your casual atmosphere. Oh...and fix the roof so we don’t have to step over 8 buckets n the way to our table.
Waitress seemed lost. Came back on 3 occasions to ask what my wife ordered to drink. I ordered steak rare but came out medium to medium well. My wife ordered medium came out rare. Mine was petite filet, her was not but she switched with me anyways because I will never send food back. She ordered crab as a side to her steak but it did not come out until 20 minutes after food since waitress forgot. So overall things were not horrible but for the price, if should have been great. We are new to Rockwall and will drive until Dallas next time we want to go to get a good steak. This was also a test run to see about having my office Xmas dinner there and that will not be happening.
I went to Culpepper based on a recommendation from someone from Rockwall. The food was delicious and the salad and sides are large enough for two people to share. I enjoyed the live music and the atmosphere. My serve was excellent attentive and very personable. Great place for any occasion.
Had never been to Rockwall and wanted a white tablecloth restaurant for an important date. Our waiter was impeccable, the wine was stellar, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was world class for an elegant steakhouse.
If you are looking for the best value this isn't your place. If you are looking for a great, high quality, relaxing atmosphere and willing to pay a bit for that then this is your spot!
On Sunday 9/24/17 I brought my son my grandson and my granddaughter in for my sons birthday. We ordered our steaks as medium rare. They did not come out that way. We did not complain. But I as my sons mother was so disappointed. I've been to Culpepper's many times and many times I have been so satisfied but on this day it was awful. I also ordered a Mamosa. The Mamosa had so much pulp in it that I could not even drink it. I don't want to think that my favorite restaurant has declined in its service. But as of Sunday 9/24/17 I believe that it has. You asked and I responded. I spent $124. And was totally not satisfied.
The steak we ordered literally had no flavor other then meat, it was so bland we sadly had to season it from the table salt. Way overpriced for an unseasoned piece of beef. Maybe smoke it or add a dry rub or anything really. The appetizer was some chicken tenders on a stick hanging out of a small bowl of dipping sauce... for 13$. I make better chicken at home. It was a Friday night at 6pm and we were literally the only people in the entire dining room, now we know why. Service was good! But we were the only customers so not sure how it would have been otherwise. Same owners at the Fatted-calf and we did not enjoy their food either. We will
stick with Bin 303 and Zanatas:)
Service was good. The steak a bit under cooked. Yes, I could have sent it back, but I don't do that unless extreme. Broccoli was weeping in garlic. Baked potato was best part of the meal. I was surprised by the casualness of the dress. Was expecting more. It was our 59th anniversary, but no one asked, even tho we were dressed much better than the t-shirt crowd around us. Just not Ruth's Chris or Three Forks.
I've been to culpeppers numerous times, primarily for work related gatherings, always enjoyed the menu. I decided to go there this time to celebrate our anniversary because my wife had never been and we live literally five minutes from the restaurant, I wish our setting could have been more
private for our anniversary but the food and service were great. Highly recommend for business or group gatherings.
I met my son at Culpepper's for a fine dining experience and to catch up on news. I was looking for a place with great food and atmosphere (the band was excellent and not too loud). I also wanted somewhere we could linger over a cocktail and catch up. Culpepper's never disappoints. They had a special of smoked prime rib which was outstanding.
