Culpepper Steak House Ratings and Reviews
Waitress seemed lost. Came back on 3 occasions to ask what my wife ordered to drink. I ordered steak rare but came out medium to medium well. My wife ordered medium came out rare. Mine was petite filet, her was not but she switched with me anyways because I will never send food back. She ordered crab as a side to her steak but it did not come out until 20 minutes after food since waitress forgot. So overall things were not horrible but for the price, if should have been great. We are new to Rockwall and will drive until Dallas next time we want to go to get a good steak. This was also a test run to see about having my office Xmas dinner there and that will not be happening.
I went to Culpepper based on a recommendation from someone from Rockwall. The food was delicious and the salad and sides are large enough for two people to share. I enjoyed the live music and the atmosphere. My serve was excellent attentive and very personable. Great place for any occasion.
Had never been to Rockwall and wanted a white tablecloth restaurant for an important date. Our waiter was impeccable, the wine was stellar, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was world class for an elegant steakhouse.
If you are looking for the best value this isn't your place. If you are looking for a great, high quality, relaxing atmosphere and willing to pay a bit for that then this is your spot!
On Sunday 9/24/17 I brought my son my grandson and my granddaughter in for my sons birthday. We ordered our steaks as medium rare. They did not come out that way. We did not complain. But I as my sons mother was so disappointed. I've been to Culpepper's many times and many times I have been so satisfied but on this day it was awful. I also ordered a Mamosa. The Mamosa had so much pulp in it that I could not even drink it. I don't want to think that my favorite restaurant has declined in its service. But as of Sunday 9/24/17 I believe that it has. You asked and I responded. I spent $124. And was totally not satisfied.
The steak we ordered literally had no flavor other then meat, it was so bland we sadly had to season it from the table salt. Way overpriced for an unseasoned piece of beef. Maybe smoke it or add a dry rub or anything really. The appetizer was some chicken tenders on a stick hanging out of a small bowl of dipping sauce... for 13$. I make better chicken at home. It was a Friday night at 6pm and we were literally the only people in the entire dining room, now we know why. Service was good! But we were the only customers so not sure how it would have been otherwise. Same owners at the Fatted-calf and we did not enjoy their food either. We will
stick with Bin 303 and Zanatas:)
Service was good. The steak a bit under cooked. Yes, I could have sent it back, but I don't do that unless extreme. Broccoli was weeping in garlic. Baked potato was best part of the meal. I was surprised by the casualness of the dress. Was expecting more. It was our 59th anniversary, but no one asked, even tho we were dressed much better than the t-shirt crowd around us. Just not Ruth's Chris or Three Forks.
I've been to culpeppers numerous times, primarily for work related gatherings, always enjoyed the menu. I decided to go there this time to celebrate our anniversary because my wife had never been and we live literally five minutes from the restaurant, I wish our setting could have been more
private for our anniversary but the food and service were great. Highly recommend for business or group gatherings.
I met my son at Culpepper's for a fine dining experience and to catch up on news. I was looking for a place with great food and atmosphere (the band was excellent and not too loud). I also wanted somewhere we could linger over a cocktail and catch up. Culpepper's never disappoints. They had a special of smoked prime rib which was outstanding.
We made reservations for a family farewell dinner. Unfortunately they sat us at a table with a railing adjacent to the lobby/waiting area. We found this table to be unacceptable. We asked to be reseated and they sat our family at a table under a tv playing loud country music videos. The volume was on and thus tv was right over my head and it was loud and made it difficult to carry on conversations. I'm not sure if the hostess placed us here in retaliation for us complaining over the first table's location because this table wasn't much better. This is a very nice restaurant but a tv had no business in the "fine" dining area. For the money we spent on our meals I would have expected a classier set up. Food and service was excellent but the tv and railing seating has got to go.
Server was Megan. TERRIBLE. No ability to remember anything you told her. Never received our app that we ordered. I know she heard me. Had to remind her several times re 2nd drink order. Side order of asparagus came when I was almost done eating. CMON! Not for 50$ a person. Funny thing is, very attentive to my hubby. Just saying folks.
Everything was great with the exception there were two couples seated in the back where the wines work. Nice cozy area but after a few minutes they seated two large groups next to us and they were so close we can hear their conversations and we couldn't hear our own conversations. Maybe large groups should be seated in a different area from where you have couples who want a more intimate and quiet setting. Other than that, we are definitely coming back.
