   We wanted to enjoy this experience but it was not an enjoyable meal. The waiter could hardly speak or understand English, so there was a communication issue from the start. The service was spotty. It was not very busy, but no one checked on us to see if everything was in order with our meals. The chicken dish was very ordinary, and the filet was ok. There was no visually appealing plate presentation. In retrospect, we should have dined elsewhere .

   At the risk of making this an over-visited restaurant, I have to say this was one of our very best experiences in Ireland, and we ate 5-star the whole trip. Every single thing about it is amazing, from the decor with an upside down canoe on the ceiling, to the smell of the fire burning in the fireplace, to the server who hand-filleted our fish dish in front of us, this place was at the very top of top notch. We were lucky enough to have a driver convey us over from Ashford Castle to the restaurant in the Land Rover in the rain. To say it was romantic is an understatement.

   This was exceptional. I can still taste the food today. I've eaten in Asford Castle and the food is as tasty and of high quality as the castle. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. All 4 us enjoyed it. It is at a higher price point than that of other restaurants in cong. But your paying less than Ashford Castle, but the food is of similar quality. So with that in mind the pricing is fair. I will be back.

   Super lunch experience on way home from family trip in the west. Lovely cottage and style. Menu and food excellent.. Of note that we loved -Smoked salmon on Guinness bread, Fish & chips (haddock on the day) Lobster brioche (an expensive product sourced fresh and to work with so don’t expect a big portion - but it perfectly cooked and served!) Classic dishes with contemporary flavours. Good wines by the glass esp. the oaked Chardonnay!. Lovely staff. Bathrooms gorgeous. A little quiet in the restaurant (few tables eating outside though) but I’d say a buzzy spot in the evening. Didn’t get to try the cocktails but they looked super.

   Food was excellent. Service was fair. Waitress was distracted and it took us 45 minutes at the end of the evening to get one desert and the check. It seems she was busy cleaning up at the end of the shift. Was an unfortunate end to a wonderful evening.

   Lovely setting overlooking Ashford Castle and its golf course. We ate outside as it was a beautiful day. My Niçoise salad was delicious and nicely presented. The lobster roll was a total disappointment @40€. While the meat was tender and soft, there was one small claw piece and another smaller piece for an entire brioche roll, have never seen anything so meager. It was overpowered by the generous portion of broccoli slaw on the sandwich.
