Great seafood in the heart of Chelsea Market. Friendly efficient service. Restaurant was full so reservation advised.

This seafood-focused place is a true gem! It's connected with the adjacent Lobster Place seafood store, which is one of the best stores in town for their huge selection of the freshest seafood of all types. The four of us split a variety of starters and appetizers, all of which were very well executed. For our entrees, two us ordered the market fish of the day (black bass), which was cooked to perfection and was accompanied by a wonderful fresh pea risotto. The other two shared the clam bake, which consisted of littleneck clams, 1.5lb maine lobster, mussels, shrimp, dickson's sausage, corn on the cob and fingerling potatoes - a feast! The wine list is short, but well selected, featuring a good mix of whites (our Greek wine was perfect with the meal), along with a handful of reds. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine list - and even brought us an additional starter when there was a little wait for the entrees, as the clam bake takes a while to prepare. The space is quite small, so be sure to make reservations for dinner.

Great food. Preffered to sit right in front of the oyster shuckers. Oysters were very fresh. Branzino was cooked perfectly. Fries were great. Clam chowder was one of the best I ever had. Octopus serving was very, very small. It was the only disappointing dish.

Great place. Great Service. Ordered the Penchant Seafood Tower and wasn't disappointed. The octopus small plate was also great. Would become a go-to place to seafood. Wasn't too pricey, and had a lot of great raw bar options.

Tip: dont order the lobster from the raw bar because its served chilled. Order the whole lobster from the entrees for a freshly steamed/grilled lobster.

Could recommend the ocotpus for appetizer/small plate.

Food was excellent. The restaurant is within Chelsea Markets, so the eating space is a little tight. Either way, it was a great experience. I'd recommend to a friend.

Booked this restaurant for my dad's birthday as he came down from Toronto with my mom and sister. It was definitely a great choice because it has a great lively vibe without being overly fancy. It is not cheap but not super expensive either. The seafood was great and fresh with healthy options, too. Service was really good.

I would recommend this restaurant and suggest taking a stroll through Chelsea Market afterwards.

Lovely place, food fantastic and staff so friendly. They even recognised that we adjusted our time with a free fish given personally by the chef (following a hick up with the online booking)
Would really recomend booking to avoid disappointment.

Cull and Pistol is outstanding, every time. We’ve been there as a couple, in a party, and now with our young child. The service is great and we are always excited to come back.

Spectacularly fresh oysters (YUM!!), rich New England clam chowder, light fried calamari, and delicious octopus made for a terrific friends' get-together in this small Chelsea Market restaurant. Service was welcoming and friendly, the prices were fair, and the ambiance is laid-back. Will be happy to return.

Two small caveats: 1. bar seats are uncomfortable (no backs, can't move them) and 2. space is tight--it's a small room that tries to maximize its seating capacity.

The calamari was very simple, almost had no flavor and the sauce it came with was tasteless. The three of us all agreed on this.

We were hoping for something more but we wasn’t disappointed when the mains arrived. We enjoyed the special seafood pot for two and the seafood stew. They were both amazing.

I would recommend this place just for those dishes.

The service was very good.

Everything was great except that Open Table let me make a reservation for 9:30 and never gave me a heads up that the kitchen of the restaurant closes at 10pm. We were rushed to order and couldnt order more when we wanted because it was already 10 oclock. If I knew, I wouldn’t have taken my guests there. It was disappointing.

Small and busy. Restaurant front of the Lobster Place next door. Great menu, loved being able to build a raw plate appetiser. Clam bake was more than enough for 2. Tables are close together.

A final night celebration meal and what a find. Excellent food, fresh, good quality ingredients. Really enjoyed my lobster, perfectly cooked and certainly good value for New York. We will definitely return on our next visit from England.

Great place. This is the sister restaurant of The Lobster Place, which is next door with a market style atmosphere and have more selections at a cheaper price. But if you want a full service, go here. The only reason I choose the restaurant was because I was worry about no place to sit but I was wrong. They are plenty places to sit down and eat next door. I like the food and I think I will visit The Lobster Place next time. Overall, both places are great.

By New York Standards not outrageously expensive.
Tables pretty close together so not exactly private dinning
would recommend.

This place is great! Chelsea Market was hopping, of course, and this gem proved to be a great stop on our adventure to that part of the city. The staff was super friendly and catered to our every need, explaining the menu and offering great opinions on the food and drink options. The oysters were delicious and our meals were amazing! We had the Steamed Market Fish with spaghetti squash and Grilled Hamachi Collar - yum.

Great seafood coming directly from the Lobster Place purveyor, can't go wrong. As starters you can choose from the raw bar on a pick & write paper menu which is great (better do your homework to understand East versus West coast flavors regarding oysters). Then comes the main menu which offers some other interesting pairing starters, such as the crab & shrimp dumpling, delicious. As main course, the Lobster Roll CT style is really good and recommended. On a side note, you can get the same thing in Europe for a third of the price and double the quality. Hey, this is NYC...
