Excellent restaurant. Went there for my girlfriend's bday and had a great time. The food was amazing, and the portion sizes were unbeatable.
Restaurant was only about 25% full, placed our order, apps came out quick, waited over an hour and our meals never came, asked waiter several times and just kept getting excuses, got tired of waiting and left without eating! would never go back!
Energetic, on trend hot spot for lunch or dinner. Great for groups.
Great food and fun atmosphere!
Such a great venue ....amazing service and food !!!!
Service and atmosphere were great. Though our food was pretty good- it wasn’t what we expected- I’d say this is a more casual beer & advanced bar food type menu & vine. I’d go back for that sort of meet up. I would t recommend it for a delicious casual dining experience however.
If you're looking for a cool and trendy laid back place with friends or coworkers this is perfect. Good food and drink for fair prices. Cool atmosphere inside with good seating outside as well.
Service was fantastic, drinks were tasty, and the food was phenomenal! The price point was also very good. We had 6 people at dinner and everyone was happy!
Have walked past Culinary Dropout many times in the past so decided we should give it a try. Food was good, service was also good. Noise level was so high we really could not hold a conversation which was unfortunate. Overall a nice place but if you want to hold a dinner conversation... probably not.
Priscilla was AMAZING!! And the food was hot, my drink was good, and the atmosphere was awesome.
We had an amazing night. Made reservations for 7pm, and were promptly seated on time. Wait staff was courteous and very helpful since it was our first time here. Drinks and Apps were amazing, but the meatloaf was the best I’ve ever eaten. Definitely try this if your a fan.
Great experience overall - We will definitely be back.
Menu full of excellent choices. Service was quick and friendly. Can get a bit noisy so good to find a table where you can sit close to hold a conversation. Alternatively get a table outside.
Way too loud. Food was bland and overcooked. Had two servers, one very pleasant, one nondescript.
Thanks to manager Matt. He knows how to take care of his customers.
Food was great, service was fairly slow (drinks took a long time but food was not slow), and the noise level was extremely loud. I was told by a friend that it was a loud place but I just thought energetic, crowd noise. It was very hard to have conversations. Had I known it was that loud, I would have chose another place because of the nature of our visit (catching up with out of town relatives). We really enjoyed the food though.
Nice people, cute place but food was average. So many options I would choose elsewhere next time.
The noise level was unexpected. Server was attentive and worked hard. Disappointed in the quality of the trout main, and the fried chicken main. Ribs were good. Pretzel bread fondue was great.
First thing first: the staff is fantastic. The restaurant was very crowded and the staff was very busy. Nevertheless we were met by a very friendly hostess who checked us in (we had reservations) and did it in a way that made us feel expected and welcomed. She suggested we wait at the bar as we were early for or reservation. We went to the bar which was packed. Regardless the bar tender noticed us in less than 10 seconds and had our drinks to us in less than a minute. Refills were just as fast. Our hostess found us at our reservation time and sat us at a wonderful table outside. Our waitress was just like everyone else; friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. At that point the food almost didn’t matter. When the staff is that good, and friendly and helpful it just made the evening. Very important to us since we were entertaining out of town guests. Ok on to other things. The food was very good.; great appetizers and entrees with sufficient variety to please everyone. And the prices are very fair. It was Spring Training season so the restaurant was packed, energy was high, noise inside was high but a very nice level outside where we ate. All in all CD was a home run (I’m sticking with the baseball analogy). We’re already looking forward to going back. Kudos to the entire staff
Great fast and friendly service. Great location by the waterfront
The vibe was energetic but not too noisy. The food was great, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Excellent food and service. Noise level was really distracting trying to talk
Great food! We had the pretzels and cheese fondue, which was SO good. The burger was outstanding and the seared tuna salad had great flavor! We have been to two locations and this one was exceptionally loud. Loved it though and will go back next time I am in town!
Place was really cute with a live band. Food was a little too salty for my taste.
Wonderful addition: The number of classy and fun restaurants continue to boom in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Culinary Dropout led the revitalization of 7th Street in Phoenix and is contributing to the expansion of the Scottsdale waterfront. This restaurant has a wide variety of menu and drink offerings from comfort food to options for vegans. I recommend the fish and chips. Phoenix only has a few seafood restaurants; ironically the fish and chips at this non-seafood restaurant is the best I have had in town!
One hint for out-of-towners: this area is called the Scottsdale Waterfront. There is some outside seating, but it is NOT facing any water.
Consistently good food. Great outside dining and superb service from Sarah. A great evening.
Met my bestie for lunch. Great location, fun atmosphere! We started on a the beet snack and split the turkey pastrami on the pretzel bun! Yum! Awesome service by Ryan, he kept up with our tea refills and was courteous not to interrupt our conversation. Yummy lunch- hit the spot. Thanks Culinary Dropout- excites for you to come to SQ!
Very good experience however TOO LOUD for dinner conversation.
Our server Samantha was excellent as she went through the menu very thoroughly and gave great recommendations! Food was delicious and worth the wait.
Great spot. The Waterfront location was much more enegetic than the Tempe location. The pretzel+queso appetizer had wonderful combination of sweet, salty and buttery. I got the fried chicken entree which was delicious albeit a tad dry. The classic mule cocktail was a bit too sweet (agave ginger instead of ginger beer) but my buddy liked the pimms he ordered. My boulevardier cocktail was excellent. Great sevice by Johnny. And the manager stopped by the table too.
Had the meatloaf and it was bland and nothing special. If you are going to put meatloaf on your menu it better be real good and kick it up a notch in someway.
Visited following a work conference. We loved the atmosphere and the live music. Our server was also great. And gave lots of suggestions for places to visit after dinner
This is just not our kind of place. It was SO LOUD , we could barely talk. And super dark too. The food was fine and the service was great , if we had been able to sit outside it would have been a completely different experience but as it was we would not return.
