Overall good experience but we were trying to “catch up” as we had not seen each other for awhile and it was too loud to hear.
This place is awesome great photo and very enjoyable weekend ambiance
Very nice experience during a very busy time of year with spring training going on and spring break. Making reservations on OpenTable !! It helped a lot the atmosphere was lively and friendly,
they were very !!!!busy but they kept us up-to-date on the status of our orders frequently very nice experience. Definitely would recommend and go there again
The live music was great and the environment is laid back. It was loud but not obnoxiously so. The food and drinks were good. The service was horribly slow. Even once the dinner crowd was out, our server rarely stopped by the table.
An eclectic spot with tasty food. The outdoor area is a fun touch. The live music made it a little hard for conversation, but the artist that was there was really good and entertaining (maybe if the speaker volume was a little lower, it would have been better, but still fun). Overall, a great experience.
Had a great business team dinner at Culinary Dropout. The food and service were outstanding. Noise level was a bit high, but expected. Overall, I highly recommend.
Fell upon this restaurant when looking for a place for dinner while on vacation, and we were NOT disappointed! Such a fun, friendly and lively atmosphere and wonderful food too! They have ping pong, corn hole, sports TV, music, patio dining... So fun! And if you go, try the pretzel fondue - it was amazing!
If I could give this place a higher review I would . The food quality and taste was amazing. I will definitely go back to explore the rest of the menu. Our waiter was attentive and new the menu very well . Spoke highly of various dishes and went with his recommendation which I was very pleased with. Wish I could Have found this place sooner.
Awesome Food and service was worth the trip
Culinary Dropout has a fun environment with games available for anyone to play. Our waiter was very efficient & had our food on our table in a timely manner. The food was delicious. We met friends for lunch who we had not seen for awhile. We were able to sit & talk for quite a while. We had a very nice lunch.
The food was great, unfortunately the service was not. We never received our appetizer. Our meals arrived and we alerted the person who delivered our food and our server. Not once did either acknowledge the error and apologize or try to rectify the situation.
Great evening with family that came from out fo town highly recommend this place had a blast
Fried chicken was excellent. They had great live entertainment
Arrived early. Wait staff was quick to serve us. Good experience.
It was a cool place but I stood at the bar for 15 minutes waiting for any bartender to pay attention to me. The food was alright, but took about 40 minutes to arrive and one dish was apparently forgotten. Our waiter continually forgot things we asked for: sweetener, extra plates, refills. But they did comp our appetizers which was appreciated but overall we were just disappointed because we had gone on a recommendation from a friend. Would really only go back to play bags or something.
Love this place! We have dined here on every visit to the Tempe/Phoenix area!
The only thing that was negative were the flies...
Excellent Food and atmosphere. We'll be back when in the area again!
We were seated on the outside patio where you may or may not have a heater over you. It was extremely loud. Ordered our kids food while waiting for friends to arrive and their food came quickly. When we ordered our food it took over a half an hour to get it. The food wasn't bad, but not worth the wait. Overall if you are going to go drink with friends in a bar atmosphere it would be good but if you want to have dinner with friends and be able to have a conversation I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Prices seemed high for what you get as well.
Service was abysmal. Took more than 30 minutes to get a drink. Food service slow too. Service staff seemed clueless.
Super trendy spot, in college town. Its a feel good atmosphere. Really enjoy this place.
Very good service and food options. Mimosa was delish.
Happiness on a plate and in a glass. Beautiful restaurant too.
My girls and I went here for the first time this past Saturday. It was a nice outing for a friend get-together. The waitresses were nice and the games were fun!
Layover in Phoenix due to storms back east, loved our dining experience, a fun place. Highly recommend!
Server Dakota was outstanding but it was so very very loud in there we had trouble visiting with our friends
Upon entry, I was excited. The restaurant has a good vibe and is a 180 from the trashy university restaurants around ASU main drag. We were seated about 5 minutes late, at a nice four-top table right next to where a band was setting up. Fearful that we were not going to be able to have a conversation, I asked when the band started. They said, 8pm, it was only 7, so plenty of time. That was, until our waitress came. Very nice, but very disorganized. We ordered some starters, which took a long time to come. When we asked about it, she realized she forgot to put them in and our entrees. We were onto the second round of drinks and two of guests asked to see the drink menu and instead of getting one, they received a second version of their original drink announced. I then ordered a second glass of sauvignon blanc and chardonnay showed up. The food was average I would say for any modern city, maybe above average for Tempe. I ordered the steak tacos, which were street-sized and spicy, probably nothing I would order again. Two at our table ordered the ribs which were said to be smoked for 36 hours. They were tasty but tough (although not baby back ribs, after 36 hours one would think any rib would be tender). They also both complained of being up all night with a grumbly stomach. The final guest ordered a roast beef sandwiched and also reported it as average. So, to summarize, nice to get out of the grind of the typical university scene, and to see some other adults, but the food and service have room for improvement. If stuck in Tempe, I would give it a try, only because there are very scary restaurants in this town.
Loved this place! Great open dining area with plenty of room to navigate. Great experience, food, and service. Will definitely be back again.
Really enjoyed our dishes (although the deviled eggs app was pretty underwhelming). Nice, comfortable seating. Attentive server and well timed service.
Very cool, yet comfortable vibe. Outstanding food and laid-back but efficient service.
Service was slow and inattentive even though they were not overly busy. Repeated many simple requests. Many people sat much later around us had food and drinks delivered well before our table (only 3 ppl in my party). Food was over cooked and not special. Will opt for other options in the future.
Our daughter got off the plane starving! This was just the place for Saturday brunch. Terrific cocktails service and fun! Enjoy!
Hostess was rude and the girl at the bar was very persnickety and aloof. The waitstaff and our waiter was phenomenal. Food was good.
We met my cousin and his wife for a reunion of sorts. I hadn’t seen my cousin or his wife in 34 years and my wife had never met either of them. Culinary Dropout was convenient and we’d heard great things.
Our server was new; it was his first night. He did a fine job. The noise level was way too high for conversation and I would never return for a meal where conversation is a component of the evening. We couldn’t hear one another. The food was a big disappointment. We had heard great things about the menu but the portions were quite small. I ordered the meat loaf and was told it was “on hold”, in other words, not available, at 6:15 in the evening. Hmmm. I changed my order to the double cheeseburger. I’ve had better burgers at Sonic, McDonalds, Wendy’s or just about any other fast food place. I ordered it medium; it came out extra over well done and the patties covered less than half the bun.
As I consider the experience it appears you’re expected to order appetizers to supplement your meal. My wife ordered the chicken salad, my cousin ordered the trout, and his wife ordered the squash pasta. All of the portions were poor in size.
I was disappointed and a bit embarrassed as I selected the location. I will not make that mistake again.
A table was specifically requested to be away from small children and we were seated right next to two unruly and loud children. I almost turned and walked out, but Gina saved the day and found me a quiet table.
Gina should have been promoted long ago! She is a great value to you.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday. We were very pleased when we got seated that our table was in a quieter corner of the restaurant. We were very disappointed it took two hours for us to complete our meal. Our server, Manu, was polite and friendly, when he checked in, which wasn't very often. The pace of the meal was way too slow with a lot of waiting to receive our drinks from the bar, our entrees and our special birthday dessert: Cinnamon Apple Monkey Bread. Manu let us know it would take about 12 minutes to prepare, so we ordered it while we were still eating, but it took well over 20 minutes and then it was not worth the wait. Very disappointing experience this time. We will be back since we know the food is delicious and the service can be much better.
Nothing just a chance to get together.
Fun atmosphere with really outstanding food (very consistent quality between the three locations we've visited). Attentive service at a busy time.
Our waitress was phenomenal! The food was great but a little on the salty side. The outdoor area towards the back was very loud. I definitely recommend for a fun night out. Not so much for a quiet date night or special occasion.
Very busy night at Culinary Dropout. We go often and always have great service. This night was an exception due to it being so busy. We waited a long time for food. Nonetheless, our dishes were good. Green Chile stew and Asian inspired sirloin.
