Capturing the cosmopolitan ethos of Los Angeles, Culina, Modern Italian presents a lively neighborhood gathering spot where sophisticated cuisine and familiarity join hands. Culina, derived from the Latin word for "kitchen", allows guests the opportunity to savor small plates aside a glass of wine or settle in for an elegant, epicurean experience behind the backdrop of an classic Italian film amidst the rainfall of our outdoor fountain. The menu features an esteemed crudo bar with the finest selections of hand prepared raw seafood, as well as homemade pastas, pizzas, and the freshest Burrata and salami. Our wine program offers approximately 200 wines, most available by carafe, from Italy and the rest of the world, with a range of unique aperitifs and cocktails. Culina provides the perfect atmosphere to see and be seen!

We dont return to many restaurants - there are so many options in LA, and new places are opening all the time. But we've been going to Culina for about 8 years, because the food is great, the indoor and outdoor dining spaces are both beautiful, and the service is always outstanding. This time around, the food was a notch down from the usual, but still good. Of 4 dishes, 3 were good, while 1 was excellent. We'll be back.

The food is absolutely amazing. There are
Zero complaints about that. They have everything a person could want and more- top notch. The issue we had was with our service. It was like moving a mountain to get more coffee or water. We had to actually track people down each time. We had to search for someone to take our plates.
In the meantime, people ordering alcohol seemed to have every need attended to. Not cheap about it or judging- we just don't drink. This was very, very disappointing and would make me give a cautionary preface before recommending.

The food and service for Sunday brunch were both excellent. In particular, the chicken and waffles and the brownies were my favorites. The Chinese New Year’s duck was also good. I also liked the comfy chairs. The valet parking is only ten dollars for brunch. There was more than enough staff, and they all were helpful. We even got a carry out bag for our birthday dessert. It was quiet at eleven, but after noon it got super busy, loud, and crowded.

Very posh restaurant with a fitting crowd. The hostess was very snooty and tried to stick us in the corner of the outdoor patio. We asked for a table inside and were seated in a nice spot by the window. The waiter and sommelier gave excellent service and the food was excellent as well. Really fun place for a special date night.

My financial advisor from Chicago took me to dinner at Culina, my favorite restaurant. Our cocktails were excellent and the halibut, the special of the day, was perfectly done and presented--and no bones. Ditto with my friend's salmon. There is no separate section for salads, just antipasti, so we had the kitchen create a Caesars salad for us. Gelato dessert was scrumptious. I can't wait to return.

I was there for Sunday brunch, they do a wonderful job of food selections. The quality is wonderful. It isn’t just the normal boring brunch menu, there is something for everyone. Healthy to decadent . Gluten-free and vegan.
Even special treats for kids.

The polenta wasn’t what I thought it would be. I was hoping for a crust on top. Everything else was great! We especially enjoyed our waiter, Daniel. His humor matched ours perfectly! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends.

We started off with the beef carpaccio and grilled octopus...both dishes were small but stellar. I had the rich and delicious risotto with asparagus that was brought over by the chef in a beautiful cheese bowl (yes the bowl was made of cheese!). The bowl did not stay with us...: ( My dining partners order the lamb ragu over polenta and the branzino. Do NOT skip dessert! The butter cake and butterscotch budino were heavenly! I would come back just for dessert! Major kudos to are sweet/patient/fabulous server Renee. Thank your for making our meal so special!

This was an awesome experience. My partner and I split a four course meal (we're light eaters) and our service was impeccable. Our sever never made us feel uncomfortable and was very helpful along the way. In fact, they literally split out dishes so we always had our own plates of food in front of us. The food was just as spectacular. We had the Polipo alla griglia (Grille octopus), the Ravioli al brasato e fave, the Bistecca alla griglia and the Butterscotch Budino for dessert. It was one of the best meals I've had in Los Angeles in a long time.

We went for our anniversary and greatly enjoyed our first time at Culina. Our server Michael was just about the best waiter we've ever had. Very knowledgeable, polished, attentive (but not overly so) and responsive. Food was very good. Ambiance was good though the playlist was aimed toward Millennials, and most of the clientele was over 50. That's the only thing I would change.

Overall speaking, we were quite pleased with what we had been offered and served except the occasional noise level coming from the high pitch infant crying from 2 nearby tables. Then again it wasn’t your fault.
