We've visited this place every time in Palm Springs area but somewhat disappointed this time. Not as refined as in the past and theme seemed larger portions and less attention to detail. Shortrib ravioli app more of a main course portion and full without finishing it. It was supposed to have chanterelles and morels which were noticeably missing to a mushroom lover. They did bring a plate of sauteed chanterelles but virtually finished by the time they arrived. Main course was sweetbread stuffed quail and way over cooked to point of being dry. Thankful for the sauce on the plate but too much butter that drowned the wild rice under the quail. Wife's beef ragout on parpadelle was family size. Charge 1/2 the price and less than half the quantity would have been appreciated as less than 1/3 was eaten. At $43 for the plate this was ridiculous but nevertheless the best dish of the eve. The vanilla floating meringue for desert was delicious however again 1/3 the size would have been too much. Service was good and ambiance as wonderful. I don't think that I'll rush back next time in town and we'll be looking for another fine dining experience.
Overall a very nice evening , every time we make it to Palm Springs we make this a sure stop as the food is always on the mark. This trip was no different we did have an issue with a very under cooked dish however it was rectified as soon as we brought it to the attention. Would always recommend Cuistot as it is still one of the best in the Valley
Everything about this lunch was excellent.The food was superbly presented and was very delicious.The server was very attentive and we had a lovely back and forth about his family and country of origin.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking fine dining.
Cuistot was one of four restaurants we patronized during Restaurant Week and it was our favorite of the four. And so we booked a reunion with a friend there, offering to him great praise for the service and cuisine. We were greatly disappointed. Our friend ordered Fois Gras and a Caesar salad for the starter, My husband ordered the Caesar salad. The salads were incredibly tasteless. I can't comment on the $44 Fois Gras since I didn't taste it. I had a New York steak with roasted vegetables and a gratinee. While there was a generous portion of beef, the roasted vegetables consisted of one small new carrot and three green beans and the gratinee was about 1 inche square. For a dessert wine, our friend ordered an ice wine, $17 for a small glass and it seemed to take forever to be served to him. A summary: it was a very pricey experience for a mediocre dinner. . He originally wanted to go to Ruth's Chris, and now I wished we had!
Greeted by chef on way in making one feel welcome. Excellent wine list, good sommelier. Ambience first rate. Two of party had the salmon which was done right and was ample sized portion. I had cassoulet which was ample in size and flavour, but a little dry. Desserts were very good with the floating island being somewhat unusual but very tasty. The "bus" was very attentive and pleasant, more than can be said of the waiter.
This is a high end restaurant that gratefully serves some dinner items at lunch time for those of us that prefer to eat out big meal at lunch rather than late at night. The patio was quiet and peaceful with a waterfall, and we could talk and catch up conversation. Service is perfect.
This is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and gives a feeling of being in a chateau in the countryside of France.
Our meal was wonderful. Starting with the appetizer and ending with dessert. Everything was cooked to perfection. There were three of us and we each got something different allowing us to do tastings. My favorite was the Parpadelle Pasta and mushrooms with a light drizzle of truffle oil. It has to be one of the most flavorful things I have ever eaten.
They also have an extensive wine list .
We hadn't been to Cuistot in awhile and decided to try their Saturday brunch. We'd received an e/mail about it. We sat on the terrace on Sat 10/28 it was a gorgeous day. Brunch was lovely, our 1st course of fresh fruit in a honey-lime-mint melange was so refreshing and the fresh croissant was a treat. 2nd course, we both picked soup .. lobster bisque for me (excellent) and wild mushroom for John also very tasty. Our main entrees were beautifully presented, John had the salmon benedict and enjoyed it. I had the chilled seafood platter and everything was so good and fresh. Our mini-trio of desserts was a perfect cap on the meal. All-in-all, a lovely experience.
Four of us to celebrate a birthday . Lovely ambience, attentive service. We were all happy with our starter course; two soups, one beet & cheese, one avocado & cheese. Very tasty. Three out of four entrees were keepers. The three were, rack of lamb, veal chop, and fillet. The fourth was the Scottish salmon. The salmon itself was very good, but the sauce was a little too strong for a delicate fish dish. It could be served on the side perhaps.
The dessert that was provided for the birthday was not the first choice for the “birthday girl” therefore one of us had to sacrifice & eat the Floating Island (not by choice) so that she might have her chocolate dessert.
All in all, a memorable evening — pricey, but worth it for the occasion.
We had a UC Santa Barbara event in their small room. Everyone was very impressed with the physical ambiance + food+ service. Then many of us stayed for dinner...Everyone loved the menu from snails to crispy chicken, great appetizers....all hard to find and delicious. The long
evening was most enjoyable and we thank the chef for coming over to check on us...That means a lot!!! He's always friendly...one reason I keep coming back.
You can't get any better than Cuistot. Absolutely top of the list in just about every rating category .Food quality, white glove service,ambiance,location and presentation.
Deserves all the applause it gets and more. We spent a comfortable two and a half hours enjoying every minute of a superb dining experience. A little pricey,but worth every penny you spend.
We started out a little rough. First the valet guy opened the door for my husband, not me and when he got around to open my door, while I got out I heard him belch.
I noted a birthday dinner on the on line reservation and asked for a nice table in the main dining room. The hostess proceeded to set us at a booth. We said we wanted a table and she set us moved us to the closest one. My husband noted the chairs were not the same as the other tables and we asked for a different table that was much better (athough there were several available and I shouldn't have had to ask for what I asked for in my reservation.
The rest of the meal went better and the food snd service is always excellent.
We have been to this restaurant many times and it seemed a little off, maybe because of new staff and just reopening for the season.
I have enjoyed lunch, dinner and Happy Hour at Cuistot and never been disappointed. It has a beautiful setting for outside seating and the inside is gorgeous. The Happy Hour in the bar is great with small plates and a variety of wines and drinks. The salads served at lunch were excellent. Very special place!!
Cuistot's is always great. Chef Bernard is always on top of everything in the kitchen and nothing leaves the kitchen without his approval. Chef Bernard has his own private garden which produces most of the vegetables served. The ambiance is outstanding and they have two outdoor patio's which offer a great outdoor experience. Always a fabulous experience.
The food at Cuistot was fabulous as usual. The potato leak soup was tasty as was the 4 cheese stuffed chicken. It's all delivered so freshly cooked and piping hot. I've never had a dessert less than perfect and beautifully presented. Ivan, our waiter was excellent and gentlemanly. The comfort and elegance is incomparable. I vote Cuistot my favorite local restaurant.
This was our second time there and just like the first, it was amazing. Yes a little pricey, but places like this that cater to having something original is/are hard to find. The occasion was Fathers Day - I took my uncle since he is the only father I have ever had. I pampered him, and he enjoyed it very much. He got the Lobster Pot Pie and said it was amazing. I should mention, it is hard for him to enjoy a lot of restaurants as he used to be a chef, but he loved everything about this place. The wine selection is extensive and there is one for every price level. I highly recommend this place for any special occasion.
I have written a few "hostile" reviews in the past and this might be considered another. However, I want people to know that I really enjoy almost all meals at Cuistot's. However, some dishes just don't workout. I ordered Roasted Rabbit with leg on Saturday, June 17th. I've ordered this before and loved it. However, the Rabbit was really tough and took really significant effort to chew. In addition, I know Rabbit is mild, there was almost no meaty flavor at all. The sauce and the Savoy cabbage were really good and helped cover the meat's lack of flavor. You can always send a dish back and switch to something else if Cuistot strikes out. They are good about that and have a wide enough choice to do a good recovery. They have a great wine list and I like experimenting with wines that are new to me. In addition, they serve Wine Dinners from time to time also that can be a good way to taste a winery's current major varietals.
