I have been dining at Cuistot when they were originally located on El Paseo. It was fabulous then, and it is fabulous now! If I was able to rate this restaurant on Open Table "10 stars," I would. Our recent visit was an early pre-theater dinner. Upon arrival, we were seated at a corner booth (as requested). Our server was professional and gracious. She brought our wine and cocktail immediately. We began our dining with Cuistot's excellent carrot ginger soup. As always, it was outstanding. For our entree, we both had the Filet and it was prepared to perfection. We finished our evening with Chef Bernard Dervieux's delightful Floating Island. It was delicious. Our server's assistant was also a gem. Cuistot is without a doubt, one of the desert's finest restaurants. Everything is always memorable.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Definitely coming back!
Outdoor patio is very pleasant and enjoyable. Service was attentive and friendly. Food is pricey. Dover sole was excellent even if expensive. The special halibut entrée was just okay.
There were 7 of us, we were in one of the side rooms which was nice and quite. The staff was very helpful, smiled lots and pleasant. This is not a fast food place - this is French dinning which means conversation and a very relaxed attitude, your entrée will not arrive immediately following your appetizers, fine dinning requires time and conversation. So if our looking for fast immediate service your in the wrong restaurant - if your looking for fine dining with friends and an unhurried event - this is the place for you - Fine Dining, Great Wine list, and a very very reasonable price. We will definitely be back many times over - this was a great food experience.
Service can be slow on a Friday or sat night. Usually not a problem but waiter seemed rushed. Pasta with creme fraiche is a little heavy.
Took longer to bring food about 35 minutes we got full of bread
What a fabulous restaurant! Top notch service, gorgeous ambiance, outstanding food. Best tagliatelle I have ever had and I asked for chicken to be added which was no problem.
NOTE: I had mentioned in my notes here on open table, that if they had a fireplace, we would like to sit by it, and that if they made a lava cake, that would be nice for my husbands birthday.
BOTH things were accommodated with splendor. My husband said the dessert was the best he'd ever had. GO!!
Be ready for $51 entrees! Prices are the highest in the desert. The chef/owner comes by your table. Have the mushroom soup!
fabulous food! A once in a lifetime meal. Everything was perfect from the mushroom soup to the tart tartin
It was excellent. I'll go back 👍🏻
Thank goodness this wasn't our 1st visit, because it would have been our last. We love the food, but our service was so poor, even after we had to ask for bread, water refills and waiting, waiting, waiting to be cleared, service didn't improve. Make sure you don't get seated at the round table in the entry area you won't see any wait staff. We did tell the hostess about our experience and frankly she was not concerned. Not sure I will able to convince our friends to return.
If you're looking for a place with beautiful atmosphere and a nice menu of continental fare this is the place. There are three main seating areas including an outdoor garden with water feature that will meet your needs whatever the occasion. The service is solid, with friendly attentive servers. My wife had a delicious sea bass that came with a flavorful light cream sauce. My rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful seasoning. We started our visit in the bar and I had one of the best Manhattans I've ever tasted.
Perplexed............two pasta dishes for entrees but only one Italian Sangiovese ?? It was too expensive at $400......
Cuistot never disappoints! From the expansive wine list to great specials (both fish and beef on our visit), the experience is wonderful!
When I go to this restaurant I expect two things.: Excellent service and outstanding food. On this occasion it was evident that the server was assigned too many tables and the service was poor. Fortunately for us a second server took our order and after that everything went well. And, the food was outstanding!
Very good loved that the chef walks around and talks to the patrons
Great food & service. Had to change tables because of bad odors sat table.
Fantastic meal and superb service!
The morel/asparagus was insanely delicious!
We will be back for more!
Very expensive considering the noise level and seating.....
Wonderful facility, food, service, ambiance.....We will go back and recommend it to all our friends.
The food was delicious. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance. I will definitely return.
Unfortunately, the beet “salad” is on the salad section of the menu. The only problem is, it’s “just beets” and no lettuce or anything that resembles a salad. The only thing on the plate beside beets, were 3 little and I mean little, pieces of cracker/bread....A little disappointing since I came home hungry.
Took four friends here for lunch and fashion show. I'd highly recommend it!
Wonderful little treasure of a restaurant.
Cuistot is two restaurants in one...the main room with a high-end, expensive Italian menu, and the Bistro with a more moderately priced menu, although the main menu is also available in the bistro. The cassoulet on the bistro menu is excellent as were the moules frites. The wine list is on the expensive side. Service was a little sketchy since the bistro was almost empty.
All-in-all a good experience. Will return.
This is a lovely restaurant. We sat on the patio and it was very pleasant. You could have a nice conversation. But the price was quite high and with four people, all having different entrees, the food only hit the mark about half the time. Oysters appetizer and lobster entree were both fishy. The special fish and the steak were excellent. Duck was dry. Service was fine although I was firmly steered away from the pasta dishes, which makes you wonder if it was the difference in the cost or if they really aren’t very good.
We arrived a tad late for our appointment and had to wait another 20 minutes before being seated (we were offered a seat at the bar, but declined). The wait was worthwhile for the service and food were excellent. Great ambiance with talented piano player. Of course serving Soufflés (Grand Mariner is my wife’s favorite) makes the experience even better. Highly recommended.
Foos was excellent, good service, lovely spot, but expensive, be prepared!
excellent food, great atmosphere. Definately at the top end of price range.
This was a disappointing meal with semi disinterested staff.
Having been with Chef Bernardo ( who was there) from the early days on El Paseo I am disappointed to give this review.
Pasta with morels- morels were dehydrated not fresh and pasta while made in house were not al dente, the water has not been salted resulting in a very tasteless dish.
Caesar Salad-deconstructed and overly dressed.
Spring Salad- average
Chicken - with vegetables-excellent
I know this restaurant can do better, hesitated writing this review, would also mention the waiter was indifferent and lacked an overall attentiveness.
Went in with high expectations, came out very disappointed, considering it’s a fine dining French restaurant. Food was poorly executed. Service was exceptional. Management turned a blind eye to what was coming out of the kitchen and never asked how our meal was. Cesar salad was filled with the hearts of the romaine, no leaf, poorly dressed, and no flavor. Pate was alright, came with a wilted slaw on the side. The fish was cooked well but the plating was very poor. Came with two very thin sliced carrots, yes two, and a sad looking side of potato au gratin, again there was two slices of potato. Couldn’t believe they let it out of the kitchen looking like it did. Felt swindled after paying $100 a person.
It's said that "First Impressions" are important. In this case, it is our last impression which spoiled the meal. It was a prix fixe menu for Valentines Night. We've been together 25 year and I wanted a great evening from an early fine dinner, to theater to see and listen to one of our favorite music groups. When I made the reservation and when we arrived...just before 6pm, we informed the reservation person and our server that we needed to be out of the restaurant by 735pm to make our 8pm theater performance. The server acknowledged and assured us all would be paced accordingly, not to worry. I should add, that at our 6pm arrival, our room and the servers stations, was half full. Long story short. I hadn't even looked at my phone for the time as I was confident the server was taking care of us. Then when I felt time was running away, I looked and, it was 730pm and dessert had not even been presented. I had to stand to get the servers attention while my wife went to get the car from the valet. So at 740pm I was handed a plastic bag with a "here ya go" and the bill. How bad can it get on Valentines Night? well, then I mentioned this incident to a chef looking character who had been talking to various tables...explained the whole thing...briefly and he looked at me and said "sorry 'bout that". Sure I could have looked at my timepiece every 15 minutes to make sure...but in a place which charges $100 a person and has the trappings of taking care of the customer, I chose to enjoy the love of my life and trust the words of the server. And then to be told "sorry 'bout that". Well "last impressions" are lasting impressions. In closing, I should add, that we are not schmoes in fine dining. We regularly enjoy fine dining but will not include this in future plans.
Excellent food, friendly staff
Made a big mistake going here for Valentine's day dinner with 3 couples. The food on the prefixed menu was poor. My pork loin was cold in spots and the "molten lava " desert was dry and hard. The service was slow. It took three hours to get our food! With a prefixed menu! And to add injury to insult the meal was very expensive. We will not be back!
Went to Cuistot for Valentine’s dinner. Pluses: great menu, great service, great food! Minuses: not very romantic due to noise.
Lovely evening and good dinner but prices took too much advantage of Valentines Day
Classic French cuisine in an elegant setting. A bit on the pricey side but good for a special occasion. I’ll be back.
The food, service and the entire experience was excellent.
We can’t wait to go back!
We have been meaning to try Cuistot for years and finally decided to go to celebrate my wife's birthday. First thing, this place is a big impersonal restaurant, not a quaint french bistro. We arrived just behind a coach that dropped off 20+ people for a function. We were seated for our 7pm reservation at 7:40 then got to place our food order with our server at 8pm. The server was very pleasant but absent most of the time. the food was good not great. I am always a little surprised to see pasta on a french menu! The food was rather bland and had the mass catered feel of hotel food rather than individually prepared french creations. Think big thick sauces and clunky flavor pairings rather than finesse. This would be fine if the dishes weren't priced like this place has a Michelin star. At the end of the evening we had a visit from the chef who seemed totally disinterested in what we had to say. Fun night out but won't be rushing back.
Unquestionably, Cuistot is the finest restaurant in the Coachella Valley. Authentic, beautifully prepared and presented French cuisine, impeccable service and wonderful ambiance. What more can I say? M. Dervieuix deserves a Michelin star.
