Joyce and I love coming here. Our first date started here and it is now a tradition that we come here for birthdays and every anniversary. Food and service is always very much on point.

Ruth's Chris was a bit of a mixed bag last evening. We had an secured a reservation and when we arrived at the stand to check in there were three young people, one of whom was focused on her fingernails, actively using an emery board to file them. It was an unfortunate signal of things being less than fully professional. Also disappointing was the amount of time the three greeters took to figure out where to seat us; in light of the fact that I notified the restaurant that this was a milestone anniversary celebration and they were anything but busy, seating should have been swift but instead we were made to wait far longer than we expected. To their credit, rose petals has been strewn on our table as a welcome gesture but the seat we were initially assigned was the end position of a long bench seat with an extra chair positioned in perpendicular fashion at the very end. My wife was instantly turned off by the assignment and requested a different seat [it is worth noting that we dined early and there was abundant open seating--we probably should have been offered a seat by the window at the front of the restaurant]. We wound up being seated right next to a (hot) gas fireplace. The service was friendly and attentive (not intrusive) and the food was quite good. Our salads were wonderfully fresh and well-composed and my wife judged her steak as outstanding--something one would expect of Ruth's Chris. My lamb chops were particularly large and cooked exactly as I had requested, although they were not as flavorful as others I've had elsewhere....good, but not as impressive as expected. We also ordered creamed spinach and again--good, but not knock-your-socks off flavorful. Our meal concluded with a complementary chocolate mousse and fresh berries in cream served on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate sauce--a nice touch. Overall, we were reasonably pleased but in total the experience fell short of the five-star rating I'd expected to leave.

We went here on Mother's Day evening -- and I think the staff were just tired after having worked the Mother's Day brunch crowd... Our food was excellent, and our waitress was excellent -- and they did give us a discount since they were not at the top of their game. But, it was nearly 45 minutes before we finally got our bottle of wine. Again, the food was excellent & our server did the very best to keep us informed. We might give the rooftop dining a try another time.

Excellent service and great steaks, consistently.
