Southern Chicago Restaurant is truly a gem! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm, attentive service and a vibrant, inviting atmosphere. The menu showcased an incredible range of flavors, perfectly balancing soulful comfort with refined creativity. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious — clearly prepared with care and passion. The Executive Chef even came out to greet us and made sure our experience was exceptional, adding a personal touch that set the evening apart. The ambiance, the hospitality, and the culinary artistry all came together to create an unforgettable dining experience. Ryan the waiter could sell anything! He was personable, knowledgeable, and on target in all of his recommendations: The “blt sandwich” quite tasty and unusual, the fried chicken moist and crispy, Mac and cheese to die for, and banana pudding gelato perfect. Although the “brisket meatloaf” dinner was flavorful enough, the meats were not quite as tender as anticipated. Will we return? Definitely. Excellent dinner location for Chesterton.

The food was excellent -- as always! However, more attention and care should be placed on the cleanliness and care to the interior. A can of paint goes a long way.
