- KKenvipSan Francisco Bay Area •23 reviews4.0Dined 1 day agoThis was our first time at Elia and the first time to set foot in the building since Piacere closed. Overall we had a good experience but the avgolemono soup was so salty we had to send it back. The noise level was excessive, however. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly. I hope our next visit will be a bit better.More infoElia - San CarlosPrice: Expensive• Greek• San Carlos•4.7
- KkonstantinosSan Francisco Bay Area •4 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoAs a Greek, I avoid "Greek" restaurants like the plague. Their food has "Greek names " but tastes anything but Greek. The "Greek" restaurant has familiar food but tastes slightly off because the owner and chef are Turkish. Those restaurants have the same relationship to Greek food, that Orange Chicken has to Chinese food. Taverna is excellent Greek food. The ownership group is a Greek family from Northern Greece. And of all the people in Greece, the Northern Greeks understand good food. Are the dishes authentic? No, and you wouldn't want the authentic dishes. What you want is food that has the flavor profile of Greek food. A Horiatiki only has tomatoes, olives, peppers and onions and FETA in a single block. I could go on. I love the place, and it's my go to place.More infoTAVERNA - Palo AltoPrice: Expensive• Greek• Palo Alto•4.7

I was surprised by how ginormous my rib eye steak was and thought it also had a giant bone in it based on its size (it had some small bone bits but not a big one and was mostly meat). It made the dish feel like an even greater value. My boyfriend had the goat with orzo pasta special and it was also very delicious. Love how high quality the parklet outside is, and the heat lamps kept us pretty warm on a chilly night. Great spot for a date night, and we saw some work groups gathered there for dinner as well as a few birthday celebrations.More infoEvviaPrice: Expensive• Mediterranean• Palo Alto•4.8
