Second time visiting and both times were exceptional. 🍷 We had house white wine and flight of Greek liqueurs along with wild greens pita and three dips to start (fava, eggplant, tarama). Eggplant dip in particular was a standout with smoky depth of flavor. Pita was made with cornmeal instead of wheat/filo which was a new recipe to us but which we really enjoyed. 🍽️ Then we all shared three other dishes with sides: shrimp with gigandes in tomato, boar with egg noodles, and beef cheeks with trahana (sourdough pasta). All of these dishes along with the beets, cooked greens, and oven potatoes we got as sides were flavorful and superbly prepared. The heartiness of these dishes was perfect for a cold winter day! 🍮 We were pretty full at this point but could not resist getting a couple of desserts - bougatsa (like a sweet cream filled phyllo pie) and a baklava dish, each paired with a unique house-made ice cream. 🥂At the end of our meal we were treated by the house to an aperitif of masticha liqueur along with two (delicious) non-alcoholic aperitif options for those in the party who were not drinking. This kindness is typical of Greek restaurant hospitality, but the attention to detail in the fact that two members of our party of six were not drinking alcohol is in my mind above and beyond and indicative of all the attention to detail in both service and food design and preparation at Bar Vlaha. I hope to return again soon! 🇬🇷♥️More infoBar VlahaPrice: Moderate• Greek• Brookline•4.8
