We met friends at the Hartley Arms, it was convenient for us all as half way between our homes. This was the first time for all of us and the welcome on arrival couldn't have been better. Very relaxed welcoming and we were checked in at our choice of table very quickly and a tab set up at the bar while we waited for our friends. The service was very good and our meals were delicious. The menu was small for Sunday lunch with just the right amount of choice for us, although one of our party would have preferred a burger or chicken, they don't eat vegetables at all but the rest of us had the roast dinner which was very good. The only thing I would say was somewhat of a surprise was the tiny portion of gravy with it. You could buy extra if you wanted it so be aware if you have the Sunday roast. Overall a lovely experience and we would go back again but maybe during the week next time.

Food and drinks were excellent as was the service, staff were friendly and polite. A rather lovely lunch treat, would highly recommend.

One of the best roast dinners we’ve ever had. The food was excellent, as was the service. And very reasonable. We sat outside on a sunny day and our granddaughter ran around and played. We all had a lovely time.

Fantastic place to eat, beautiful decor, really nice beer garden, lovely staff very helpful, they want you to have a good experience. The menu was varied, you get quality on a plate. The steak was perfectly cooked. We went there for my brothers 60th and they gave me a recommendation for a cake maker and they decorated the table for us. Jon and his staff went over and above. We would definitely recommend The Royal Oak if you are staying in the area.
