Full disclosure, I am stacking this restaurant against Hopfield’s (also in Austin). Their half roasted chicken, baguettes, and frites all get an A. Frommage board gets a B+ due to Hopfield’s having an extraordinary board at roughly the same price point but it is still great. The ratatouille and mussels (moulles) get a C for low flavor. Once again Hopfield’s for the win on mussels (by a very long shot). Service was just good and they handle guests with reservations weirdly. Atmosphere just depends on what you like. Bureau de Poste has a modern feel to it (better if you bring the kids). Hopfield’s feels like a French country establishment with nooks that feel intimate (good for date night).

When we first arrived there was no one to greet us, we stood there for 12 mins without a peep. I really think the staff that passed by could have stopped and said hello welcome in, someone will be with you shortly. The menu was easy to read and flowed well. The coffee was great, the pancakes were amazing, bacon was cooked perfectly. Our waiter was pleasant and made great recommendations.

We had a great lunch, we tried the “small” plates and we were super full! Service was little slow due to the busyness, but very nice and friendly.
