Best Contemporary Mexican Restaurants in Mid-City

Amazing experience so much fun beautiful setting! The best time!

Red O dropped one of my favorite menu items, the Goat Cheese Tamales so was disappointed by that, but the Branzino (Pescado Frito) was amazing as always. Slightly disappointed that Red O Santa Monica has become a very touristy restaurant. It used to be this wonderful high end Mexican Cantina, the bar was busy with customers and it was a hopping spot. We were there on a Friday night and no was in the bar and the place felt a bit stale. Still love the Red O, but miss the pre-Pandemic vibe.

Really interesting and delicious fusion. Owner is very engaged and is lovely to guests. Fun vibe. Food comes out QUICKLY and service is attentive but not obsequious.

Great spot. Convenient walk to PANTAGES after. The tacos are big! I rested 3. Could have gotten by with 2. The churros are awesome. Husband had the quesadillas

Perfect - we loved the food and it was all so great. I made a last minute substitution and they didn’t give me a hard time about it at all - very kind people all around. And the atmosphere is so lovely. Hidden gem!
