We were lucky to get seats at the chef's counter. The entire staff was engaging and very friendly, and we had great conversation with the chefs as they skillfully and swiftly cooked and plated food. The food was spectacular as well. This is a must visit when in LA.

The four of us tried 7 things to share. Each dish had wonderful flavors! The choices included the pork chop, the half chicken, the duck breast, pea pods, mousse, broccolini, and molten lava cake with ice cream. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!

Shiro is without question, the finest restaurant in South Pasadena and one of the best in the entire surrounding areas. Every detail from the warm greeting at the door, often by the owner, the fabulous artwork on the walls, the friendly service, and the ultimate, the food and beverage selections, are beyond outstanding! There is not a bad item on the menu. Dishes are presented beautifully and meticulously. We were presented with a complimentary dessert, an apple tart with vanilla ice cream along with a glass of port.

We had a lovely lunch and our server was very attentive without being overbearing! She saw to our every need and took very good care of us! She made sure we were able to have our meal and make it to our show on time.

My wife and I have been wanting to try L’Appart for a while now, and our dinner last night completely exceeded our expectations. We originally went in hoping to try their $49 tasting menu, only to find out it’s strictly a weekend offering. When we mentioned it, our wonderful server actually went and asked the Chef—and they graciously made an exception for us! That level of genuine hospitality sets the tone for the whole place. The food itself was incredible: authentic, rustic, and deeply flavorful with an almost homemade warmth to it, yet served with gorgeous presentation. Our server was fantastic all evening—warm, attentive, and happy to answer our questions about the menu. Such a gem in our city. We will definitely be returning!
