Best Contemporary French American Restaurants in Upper East Side

We had a wonderful experience at Butter. The staff was so friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. The rolls were insanely light and fluffy. The veal bacon was perfect. The burrata was good but I don’t know if we would get it again. Our entrees were the short ribs and the salmon, both cooked perfectly and great portions. And we ended with the raspberry beignets which were light and fluffy and full of flavor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We have dined here several times but this was really an outstanding experience. Everything was delicious, served professionally and the noise level was comfortable. I had the special arugula corn and avocado salad, followed by the duck breast with figs. I loved the large slices instead of the usual many thin slices. It was tender and juicy. The figs were marinated and out of this world. I shared the warm bread pudding with my husband. Delicious. The only negative was the espresso. Watery and tasteless. Our friends loved their meal as well. We enjoyed the whole thing so much we stayed 3 hours!

Bread service was burnt toast. Weird. Cocktail menus don’t say when there’s egg whites on them, so we had to send back our cocktail. There’s no bread plates or appetizer plates. But the ambience is really pretty, and dinner was good. I don’t know. Mixed review.

A unique location with rooftop view of the city. A great spot for a cocktail or other drink and soak in a cityscape, but the food was ok rather than extraordinary, really more bar food than anything like a proper meal despite calling some dishes “entrees”. Service was at times distracted despite a relatively quiet evening.
