We walked in at 6:20 to check in for a 6:30 reservation. Another Couple arrived just before us and asked for a table without a reservation. We were told by the hostess that she would call us at 6:30. The other couple was seated about 5 mins later, before our 6:30 reservation. We sat at the bar and had cocktails. At 6:35 the hostess came over told us to settle our bar bill and let her know. Now, I understand 5 mins is not a huge amount of time. The issue I have is two fold. 1) Why wouldn't you prioritize a reservation prior to a walk in? Do you have a policy to not seat reservations prior to stated time? Obviously there were tables ready. 2) Ability to move the ticket from the bar to a restaurant, is a common practice, rather than having to take the additional time to close out.
