Steak night at the Union never disappoints. Probably one of the best in Melbourne. Dined with a vegan guest last night and they enjoyed the plant based burger option too!

Its been a while since ive last been. It was as great as remembered. My work friends who hadn't been before loved it!

The steak was cooked to perfection. However the pasta was completely over cooked, even though the waitress asked the chef not to do so. Hence, a lower rating overall.

Even though Olivine is a wine bar, I mostly go there for the delicious food. The steak, chicken, terrine & pate, the brussels sprouts (swoon) and fries are all great. The wine's always good too. The fitout looks lovely, but sadly the designers prioritised form over function - the cell bench seating is really uncomfortable! Nevertheless, the ambience is great and I like the idea of us all collectively creating a new, more positive cultural memory to sit alongside the history of the place. If you haven't been, I definitely recommend a visit. Do leave time to check out the historical info in the unrestored cells; it feels important to honor and try to understand the story of the place while we're there.
