Best American Restaurants in Des Moines

I always stay at Cedarbrook and have dinner in the Copperleaf while passing through SeaTac. My most recent visit was during three large Christmas parties, so every available employee was on duty. In spite of what should have been total chaos, I was able to enjoy a great meal with Marco and the staff. What a wonderful place to stay and relax.

This was a gathering of old dear friends so the ranking is high because we were served great food by a very nice and friendly server that provided great service without being overbearing. We started with cocktails and then dinner. We stayed for three hours laughing and talking and never felt pressed to leave. Nice job Stortinis!

Great place to eat after a movie. The service and portions were great. Lots of families and small groups. My husband is eager to return to try all the chowders.

Not worth the special trip if you aren't staying at the hotel already. Parking was very unclear for dinner guests; we needed to ask valet what to do. The parking lot is far opposite end from the restaurant, so you either have to walk all the way around the hotel's exterior, or navigate all the interior hallways to find it. Our reservation was meaningless; we waited 20 min to even be acknowledged by the single staff member at the restaurant. She then sent us over to have dinner in the bar because she was too busy to serve us! Their saving grace was that the food was tasty, and the server in the bar was nicer. The price was highfor what we got, but it's a hotel restaurant. We won't be back unless actually a guest in the hotel and have limited options.

I was able to snag a last minute reservation for the thanksgiving meal and it was a great experience. I was seated promptly. Service was excellent and the food was very delicious. The icing on the cake was my seat was in perfect view of a basketball game that I wanted to watch. Thanks for a perfect solo thanksgiving meal.
