Fabulous service as always !
I ordered a pasta dish that was a bit more spicy than I thought... no questions asked ... the manager said let me make it better for you. They remade the dish... now that is service!!!👍🏻
Love the food and wine selections at Cucina Urbana, but I found the noise level, coupled with the clubby thumping music to be enough to prevent me from wanting to dine there again, unless I was by myself and didn't want to try and hold a conversation. Service started attentively, but fell off quickly once the restaurant became busier. Food was delicious.
I always love taking co-workers to Cucina Urbana. The atmosphere is wonderful and even though it would seem to be on the loud side, you can easily have a conversation so the set up is great! My number one go to is their chopped salad, always delicious. First time having their pizza - I chose the fig and ricotta pizza and what a great combo of flavors! Others with me got their bolognese pasta and said that it was wonderful as well. The service seemed to be a bit slow but we were in good company and the atmosphere makes up for it, the server was very pleasant.
A very nice place. Receptionist, wait staff, and servers did what they could to accommodate us. The ambiance was fun and romantic, although the place was a little noisy.
The food was great, although the pasta portions could have been more bountiful.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. We will surely come back, and try something other than the pasta.
I went with my wife and daughters, the waitress was phenomenal great! everything she recommended we love it
Great food, lovely atmosphere, great and good humored service.
Our experience was amazing. Food was delicious. You could never go wrong with anything you order!
Such a great experience. Lynn is amazing!
This was our second time coming to this restaurant and just like the first time we loved it!! The food it delicious and the service is always spectacular! They also have a wonderful wine selection. We will definitely come back again!
Great service and delicious food! The place fills up fast. Our reservation was at 5:30pm which was perfect.
The place was really crowded for a Thursday night. Creative food, great service . Their wine prices are reasonable compared to other places because they have a wine shop in the restaurant. We shared a lot of small plates and all were good. Pizza was the one of the best in recent memory..
We love this restaurant. It's always a fun, lively atmosphere. They have a make-your-own pizza for little kids which was a huge hit for our son. The sangria was super good, too. We'll keep coming back!!
Our waiter was outstanding.
The cuisine was delicious - just superb.
I can't wait to return!
Great food! The polenta with chefs ragu, the octopus, the squash blossoms, and the tiramisu were all delicious! Then the shuttle to the Old Globe theatre topped off a perfect evening! I will be back!
Excelllent Italian food and impeccable service.
This was amazing and a must try if you’re in San Diego!
The food was very yummy and our waiter was awesome! I would definitely go back again!
What a great restaurant. Our server Lynn was excellent. She made the evening a pleasure. The food was fantastic no complaints whatsoever
Excellent wine options and reasonable corkage fee. Food was superb as was the service. Noise level was very loud.
Good as always, excellent food and great atmosphere
Although the ambiance was fantastic, and the service needy good, I think the food at Davanti is much better. I might come again for cocktails, but I would not suggest it for dinner.
Honestly had a wonderful time at Cucina Urbana, the next time we are in San Diego we’ll be coming back! Food and service were top notch.
Great table and food fabulous !!! Server was too rushed and not very attentive or warm . Oh well , we had good company at our table .
The food and service were outstanding! The rib eye carpaccio was absolutely phenomenal. We'll be back for sure
This one is a keeper. I went one night and enjoyed it so much (octopus, fried squash blossoms, whole grilled branzino; they’ll cork your own wine or even allow you to go pick your bottle of choice from the wall stack ..), I canceled another rez and went back a second day in a row bringing new friends. Great eatz, great service.
Great food and service. I had the burrata salad. Absolutely loved it!
Hadn't been to Cucina Urbana in a very long time & we were heading to Balboa Park for an organ concert so we decided to give it another try. I'd say the food is o.k. - nothing special, which was a bit disappointing. My sister-in-law tried one of their pizzas and it was BLACK! She had to cut all of the outside edge of crust off - it was really inedible! The bottom of the crust was the same so she ended up scraping off the toppings and eating those for her dinner! Not good! Our waiter was scarce after the food was delivered so while she wanted to complain & ask for another pizza to be made, we couldn't find him! I had the burger - the bun was a bit stale which is really a pet peeve for me! How difficult is it to have FRESH rolls in a restaurant???? On the good side, my husband had the seafood pasta which he loved and my brother-in-law enjoyed the Branzino. Forget the tiramisu - we all thought it was the worst we've ever had! Just pass on dessert and have an ice cream cone at Balboa Park!!!
We had a fantastic anniversary celebration at CUCINA urbana and highly recommend it. The service was excellent and the meals were delicious. You have to order the polenta with short ribs - outstanding!
As always, the service and atmosphere was impeccable. My wife and I celebrate our anniversary here almost every year. The appetizers were great. However, the squid ink pasta was a little off. The pasta itself was undercooked and starchy while the shrimp was overcooked and tough. The portion itself was pretty sparse considering the cost. I'm sure this was a one off situation as we've been happy everytime before this. We'll still come but thought you should know.
Always wonderful friendly service and always outstanding food. Cucina Urbana is a Treasure!
I love this place. Nice atmosphere, good food, nice selection of wines, and a full bar. We choose Cucina Urbana because of its proximity to The Old Globe, and we LOVE the free shuttle service.
Great Food - Exceptional Service
Cucina Urbana once again pleased our out-of-town guest before going to a play at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park. We always begin with polenta, and this time two of us enjoyed the agnolotti, and one enjoyed the seafood pasta.
Great food, but don't expect a free desert for your birthday LOL. Friendly staff, who are always willing to help.
We have eaten here many times, and it has always been excellent. Food is great, and the wait staff always make you feel welcome. Perfect for pre or post theatre dining.
Good food on average, nice staff, but a wall of noise when you enter. It got better after 9:30 PM.
I am a frequent customer at Cucina Enoteca in the Irvine Spectrum and Fashion Island. I always enjoy the octopus an the the board/ragu appetizers. On this visit, I felt that the octopus was a bit rubbery and that the chicken ragu was flavorless and that the polenta was not creamy/rich in texture. Disappointing based on my experience at the "sister" restaurants.
From the second you walk in, until you walk out the service was amazing. Every aspect of dining in exceeded my expections.
Our reservation was at 9pm we arrived at 845pm.
We didn't get seated until 930pm. Then our waitress forgot to put in our order for Truffle Fries prior to our main dish coming out. She told us she forgot, but she did comp the item for is so that was nice.
Overall, the place is okay drink prices a little on the High end
