About Cucina Rustica
As if being in Sedona wasn’t magical enough- when you pass through the outdoor gates of Cucina Rustica you enter a restaurant unlike most others. The restaurant wraps its arms around you and settles you into dining experience that many foodies seek out but rarely find. Couples and large parties enjoy unobstructed service and ambiance. The tone of the restaurant is rich warm colors of the Mediterranean woven into the four dining rooms, uniquely separate but locked hand in hand to each other. Owner and Chef Lisa Dahl designed the restaurant with old world doors, lighting, windows for peek-a-boo openings, iron work, 4 fireplaces, 2 fountains and 2 magnificent patios. The large L-shaped bar area is vibrant, subtly lite and serving Wine Spectator list wines and fine cocktails while the sounds of the chef’s on the line ebb and flow in the background.
When you dine at Cucina Rustica the world is a million miles away.

Cucina Rustica Ratings and Reviews
We had an amazing time on the patio on a Saturday night. The setting was perfect and it was a perfect place to spend an evening on our only night in Sedona. The food was excellent and our waiter, Greg, was fantastic and very attentive. This will be our first stop next time we make it to Sedona. What a great night!
Great restaurant in a beautiful location. However, the fresh linguini was gummy and less than satisfactory. They made some fresh for me, but it was the same. I was disappointed to discover that the linguini was the only choice for fresh pasta. I changed my order to the chicken with orzo. The chicken and sauce were delicious, but the orzo pilaf tasted like it came from a box. My son's penne was nothing special, but again the chicken and sauce was great. I hope they find a new pasta chef before my next visit to Sedona
I was very disappointed in the service! We had asked for Jesus - slow night so he couldn’t wait on us. Although he was there.
The server we got was fair-not very attentive. The server for beverages and cleaning - was walking around twirling his serving tray while comeing to tables. Not very professional for a Dahl restaurant.
Food was mediocre.
We were are Mariposa the night before and it was spectacular-so thought for sure this Lisa Dahl would be as good! We were wrong!
I have lived in Sedona for 29 years and dined at Cucina Rustica many times. The restaurant seems to decline with every visit. This may well be my last. Admittedly, this was a Thanksgiving holiday visit, but you would think the restaurant would try to be at its best. Instead it was overcrowded and extremely noisy. We ordered cocktails (two brand name martinis). They were out of martini glasses, so they served lukewarm martinis in a whiskey glass (a first for me). The service was very slow and only our waiter spoke English. If the bussers spoke English it didn't show. Obviously, they did not properly plan nor did they have enough trained staff.
My wife and I ordered a Caesar salad and the rack of lamb (medium) with mashed potatoes and mushroom green peas. The salad was tasteless. The lamb was overcooked and meatless. The sides were unremarkable at best.
There was no ambiance. The room was dark and lifeless, but noisy, and we were sitting about a foot away from all the tables around us in every direction
Our bill (with tip) was $210.00. I have had bad experiences at this restaurant before, but returned because of an injury that kept me from going to much more pleasant dining experiences in Scottsdale , AZ. This was the worst of all my experiences at Cucina Rustica.
I've lived in Sedona for many years and I have seen many restaurants come and go. If Cucina Rustica can't get it's act together it will be headed the same way. Gone
We had a terrific Thanksgiving meal on the patio, with pleasant guitar music, lovely setting, and delicious food. Having an authentic Italian waiter (Alessandro) was the frosting on the cake. We are already planning another trip to Sedona and this restaurant for next month.
The food was excellent. Everything we had was delicious and perfectly prepared. Our server was not impressive, we seemed to be an after thought to him, but the food was so good we were able to ignore the sub-par server. Everyone else we interacted with was fabulous, only the server was underwhelming.
We have dined here for our anniversary for the past four years and at other times. They greeted us with a "happy Anniversary" and seated us in great corner table. In the other years they placed rose peddles on the table and had a little extra special dessert, but maybe the "special event" message wasn't passed on to our waiter. Food is always fantastic and music perfect.
This was our second visit to Cucina Rustica in 6 months and it was as good as the first time. One of the meals that is especially authentic and completely tasteful is the Classico Bolognese. And the deserts. Well, ooh-la-la. If we end up back in the Sedona area, it will be our restaurant choice for one of our nights.
My wife and I visit Cuchina Rustica every year when we’re in Sedona. The service last night was excellent as always—thanks, Scott—and the menu this year seemed lighter and healthier than in years past. We’ve always had a good experience, and we recommend it highly.
The food is very good, but the service lacks. This is our second time here and there were service issues both times. We waited a long time for someone to take a drink order, in fact we had to ask for someone to come and take it. Last time the bus boy was clearly off in his service and dishes were getting stacked in the corner of the room. The service was not up to par.
A little disappointed this time. My Eggplant Parmesan was very good but my husband’s veal was a very small portion for the price and very plain tasting and the sides were not impressive as well. The first time we went the service was impeccable on the patio. This time the service was slow and a bit inattentive. The ambiance inside was too noisy and dark. If we come again, we’ll sit on the patio and avoid the veal.
To whom it may concern, first and foremost the food was delightful. Now only if perhaps our service matched I would be happy to give a 5 stars. That being said, I am still trying to rehydrate myself from being so thirsty because we were neglected on being checked on once the food had been delivered. So, cheers to the chef for being on his A game!! We appreciate you!!!!
We were very excited for this dining experience that was highly recommended to us. Disappointing on multiple levels.....but, If you like The Olive Garden you’ll like this restaurant. Food is about the same with a better wine list. All the reviews set our expectations but after booking a reservation in advance, we still had to wait nearly 30 minutes for our table. A waiter finally acknowledged us and after delivering our wine (which were the same altho we ordered two different glasses of red), our appetizer was delivered to the couple next to us who had just been seated. :-( Our waiter tried to push another one on us but we were now over an hour into our dining experience and just wanted our entrees.) Shrimp and rice - meh! And pasta with prosciutto and mushrooms drowned in a cream sauce — no good. The waiter saved the evening with a complimentary chocolate cake dessert that was magnificent. The front patio was a fun atmosphere if the weather permits. The side room we were seated in was so dark we couldn’t read the menu. We must have ordered the wrong items. :-(
We come to Sedona every 2-4 years and always make Cucina Rustica part of our plans. This trip of 6 Days, gave us time to visit this outstanding g restaurant twice!
Love the fresh ingredients and the staff. First night we sat outside in the garden patio under the fantastic heaters near the outside fire pit. The second night we sat inside and both times enjoyed the local musician playing guitar
Got off to a bad start because it was so dark that my wife couldn't read the menu. Also, the noise level was such that she had a hard time hearing me when I read the menu items to her. We had arrived early, and were seated promptly, but that didn't make things go fast. Waiter greeted us, promised to fill our water glasses, took our drink order, and disappeared. Twenty minutes later, just in time to stop us from walking out, waiter's partner arrived, apologized for waiter's absence, filled our water glasses, took our food order, and returned five minutes later with the drink ordered and with bread. This was the last time any water was added to the water glasses. Five minutes later the appetizer arrived. It was very good. Upon removing the empty appetizer dish the waiter promised the entrees would arrive within "a few short minutes". Fifteen minutes later, he returned, stating that the entrees would arrive "pretty quickly". The entrees arrived ten minutes later. They were both very good, but not as hot as they should have been. Also the amount of food was a little sparse, and one of the two scallops was tough.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Cucina Rustica and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience start to finish. We dined inside - the decor is "eclectic rustic Tuscan". Our hostess initially offered us a small corner table tucked in beside the fireplace, but when I asked for different seating she promptly (and graciously) made a "4-top" available. We were seated next to their musician (classical guitar) and were able to interact with him throughout our meal - super!!
The entire menu is excellent and we both enjoyed our entrees - mine was "Vitello Magellano" (veal scaloppine sauted with scallops, mushrooms & spinach and finished with brandy) and my wife had the "Maiele Grigliata" (an excellent grilled 10oz. pork chop accompanied by braised kale and a faro pilaf). My wife was served a large (and complimentary) piece of tiramasu for her birthday desert.
The outdoor patio is incredible as well and we (almost) regretted eating inside. Plenty of tiny patio lights, fireplaces, lots of greenery, etc. Both indoors and out, Cucina Rustica is an excellent choice if you're looking for fine Italian dining and great ambiance in Sedona. Great for a romantic dinner for two, evening with friends, etc.
Very busy restaurant--overall it was good--I had lamb chops and my husband had short ribs. We were seated on the patio right by a wall, and on the wall there were bowls with fires going in them. This became a major distraction as the wind blew the flames very close to my husband's head. Luckily he was able to reposition his chair before his hair caught fire! It was very dark as well, couldn't really see my food overly well, but it did taste good.
Cucina Rustica was a Beautiful Restaurant with different rooms & atmospheres!
It was our 45th Anniversary & I booked this dinner way in advance, as I read that they did special things for Bdays & Anniversaries-
However , they put us in a back room w the next table ( & only other people
in there) being 2 elderly women - I was Very disappointed - the message also got lost between the front desk & whoever took us to our table - no mention of Anniversary & no rose pedals-we felt also that we were being rushed !
The food was very good ,salad & appetizer portions were Very big & pricey! So Share!!
I wish I would have known about the different rooms - the front had a guitarist playing & beautiful lights all around, the next room had a stone fireplace on, the next had a lot of tables but seemed like a happy crowd - also a back outdoor area w heaters- ours was only 3 tables - looked like my grandmas dining room
The main meals were Excellent & the dessert we had Supmoni- I had asked about tortufo's which was chocolate covered ice cream with a cherry inside , ( which I explained to waiter) was told no they didn't have that , yet the spumoni came out chocolate covered & again very big that could have been shared! But pretty much the same as I was describing to him-that he said they didn't have-
All and All the food was good- but pricey even for Sedona- but it was so busy that messages were lost in translation - and wait staff , in my opinion should not have rushed us either!
