As if being in Sedona wasn’t magical enough- when you pass through the outdoor gates of Cucina Rustica you enter a restaurant unlike most others. The restaurant wraps its arms around you and settles you into dining experience that many foodies seek out but rarely find. Couples and large parties enjoy unobstructed service and ambiance. The tone of the restaurant is rich warm colors of the Mediterranean woven into the four dining rooms, uniquely separate but locked hand in hand to each other. Owner and Chef Lisa Dahl designed the restaurant with old world doors, lighting, windows for peek-a-boo openings, iron work, 4 fireplaces, 2 fountains and 2 magnificent patios. The large L-shaped bar area is vibrant, subtly lite and serving Wine Spectator list wines and fine cocktails while the sounds of the chef’s on the line ebb and flow in the background.
When you dine at Cucina Rustica the world is a million miles away.

So disappointed! We wanted to celebrate Father’s Day with an amazing dinner and instead we both left extremely unsatisfied. My boyfriend ordered the special Ribeye with Prawns. He asked to have it cooked medium well. Instead he received a piece of meat that was burnt around the edges and rare inside. I got the Don Quixote and it was less than flavorful with the pasta and chicken floating in a watery sauce. When they delivered our rolls there was one that was hard as a rock. We actually thought it could have been a prop. When I addressed this with waitress she said “I’ll have to make sure the chef does not cook them so long”. She did not offer to replace the roll with one that was edible. This is not acceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. I do not enjoy writing a review that is less than favorable but I hope no one else has an experience like this one. I hope they are able to make this wrong right in the future.

After being seated we were told happy hour was only for patrons sitting at the bar. Another unnecessary little irritant. It just seems a little something is missing from all Lisa Dahl’s restaurants keeping them from being better. Every detail reported on Open Table or Trip Advisor could be easily remedied. If only some one took the initiative.

The food and experience was amazing. It was a great way to end out time in Sedona for the week. The outside area was very romantic, and we loved each of our meals. The waitress was great, just a little off and awkward whenever she was needed. But overall it was a tremendous dinner experience.

The dining area is s little cramped. Our waitress was outstanding, the wait staff was great! We had two veal dishes, which were flavorful, but a little tough, I think it should have been tenderized, but that’s just me. Ambience was great, loved the guitar!

Terrible experience all around. First no one wanted to wait on us, staff totally unprofessional, over cooked steak, wrong drink orders, replacement meal bland, manager was aware of all and refused to apologize or even acknowledge us. Will not return.

This is one of my favorite places in the Sedona area. Lisa Dahl knows how to run a restaurant. Getting great good and great service is not an accident. This well managed establishment never disappoints. Try the grilled artichoke. It’s fantastic as are many of the dishes.

If you want to have a perfect dinner experience, I highly recommend Cucina Rustica. Our bill for 2 people was $103 which included 2 glasses of wine, 2 entree's and desert. It was well worth it. We ate on the patio where it was lovely and quiet.

We visit Sedona twice a year and always hit Cucina Rustica during one of our visits. The food is fantastic and there's usually something newf. This trip was the serrano chile olive oil with the bread. I love spicy so this was a welcome change. Anybody can do butter or olive oil. We'll be back again soon.

Food was just okay, nothing to rave about. Also, the restaurant did nothing at all to make our wedding anniversary celebration special. We had a more satisfying meal at Pisa Lisa. Would not recommend.

We visited from Scottsdale and chose Covina Rustica because it had been highly recommended by friends who have a home in Sedona. I also had purchased Lisa Dahl’s beautiful cookbook several years earlier. It was recommended by another friend who had eaten at the restaurant. I also wanted to taste the flavors these recipes should be. We were not disappointed. Though the pasta dishes are priced above typical Italian restaurants, the food was anything but typical. It was quickly decided we’d be back.

It was a magic night at end of May
An anniversary to celebrate.
How could we make this such a special day?
My wife and I, we had a wondrous date.
What can Sedona offer that's a treat
When it comes to the best gourmet cuisine?
My favorite chef is the great Lisa Dahl,
A Rockstar in the red rocks dining scene!
She owns so many restaurants in this town,
Yet I have always loved Italian food;
Cucina Rustica, the jewel in crown,
Would set for us the true romantic mood.
I never will forget that wondrous night;
The food and atmosphere were sheer delight!

First time visit for our anniversary, and were totally impressed in every respect. The service was excellent, the food was superb, and the decor took us thousands of miles away from Sedona. As regular visitors to Sedona for many years my wife and I have frequented all of Sedona's popular restaurants but somehow have missed CR. What a well kept secret! CR does not disappoint and makes for a perfect evening. BTW, the solo acoustic guitarist was a nice added touch.

The foods was good, however, the service wasn’t. We put our orders in and it took them over an hour to bring it out. The couple next to us come 30 minutes after us and got their food within 15 minutes. Worst is that I left a note on my reservation that it is for a birthday dinner and they completely forgot about it.

Yes, with reservations. The wine bottle pricing was highway robbery. And we ordered the lamb and steak specials and the steak was very tough. We had a much better steak in Downtown Old Cottonwood for half the price. My lamb was just ok.

If w return, we will stick to the pastas.

If you're searching for a fabulous restaurant in the Village of Sedona, look no further than Cucina Rustica! Chef Lisa Dahl is one of my fav chefs, and I dined here over the holiday weekend. The restaurant decor is reminiscent of an old world restaurant in Italy. My kale salad was to-die for...oh wait, I didn't mention the seasoned olive oil that came with my bread--SO Tasty! Pasta was yummy and the lemon pie gelato was the perfect light but tasty dessert to finish my meal.

We stayed in Oak Creek Village with friends visiting from Ca. This restaurant looked interesting so I made a reservation and the experience and food turned out to be ....great! We have eaten in many good Italian restaurants and this is one of the best. The restaurant is bigger than I thought it would be and, although they told us they were serving 300 meals on the night we were there, we were treated and served like we were the only table there. We had two pasta dishes cooked perfectly, veal piccata and chicken parm..all excellent. The server was fun and attentive and the food came out fresh and hot. If you like red wine the Super Tuscan by the glass was very good and cheaper than a glass of Malbec! While the restaurant is broken into smaller rooms, it is noisy when all the tables are filled but most busy restaurants are like that these days. We will be back anytime we visit Sedona and, maybe, only to eat at Cucina Rustica!
