The food was impeccable and the atmosphere perfect.
Since COVID, I prefer restaurants that are not overly packet, outside and a good vibe. This place never disappoints! Food was on point with the perfect bottle of wine
Our meal was absolutely delicious. Our waiter Tanner was very attentive without being intrusive, great meal on the patio on a beautiful day. Can't wait to go again.
Beautiful outdoor dining!
Maybe it is covid setting, the waiter brings out all the food (appetizer, salad and entree) at once so order what you really want to eat. It felt a little rush.
Recommended wine was amazing!
We ordered the ribeye and it had no flavor at all. Very disappointed. This so called ribeye was the texture of tri-tip! When we asked they said that they use only the center cut so that’s why it had no fat but that’s what makes a ribeye flavorful. We truly believed it was not a ribeye steak that we were served.
Second time coming here! Amazing as always!
This was our first visit to a cucina restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was very fresh and well prepared. We all enjoyed our selections.
The restaurant has just the right amount of ambience and decor, rendering our visit to be a very enjoyable experience.
Our service Was outstanding in the food was fantastic it’s so nice to be able to enjoy dining outdoors a good Americans again
We have not eaten here in a couple of months. The service was great from beginning to the the end. The burrata appetizer was fantastic. But both of us were a little disappointed with our pizzas. They were both a little bland, but the crust was very good. I know it is hard to run a resturant these days. But we will be back to try in the future.
Server had a bit of an attitude initially — got better. Food was good—not great, somewhat limited choices for lunch and overpriced
Ambiance was very pleasant
Great diner with friends and family great service
Lunch with my sister after MONTHS of lockdown. Outstanding.
Thank you
Waiter was good. Hostess VERY rude
Over all we were very disappointed in a Restaurant we have visited on many occasions. We made our Res. 1.5 weeks in advance for our daughter's 19th birthday. We chose the restaurant partly on the fact they have a large patio for outdoor seating, and its very nice. We unfortunately were seated on the front sidewalk next to the door, our Server was merely going through the motions with no care about how things turned out. No water refills, no paper menus, only your phone, one glass of wine and no Birthday observation, even though we reminded them when we arrived. The food was good, we just had pizza, didn't feel like really dining is such a off putting environment. Overall a complete fail, have to try something else next time.
We enjoyed the the food very much. They need to be more polished on their service. That definitely need more improvement
I feel badly rating restaurants during this crazy time as I know they are doing the best they can. Cucina has a beautiful patio and thankfully can accommodate a fair amount of diners making it almost feel normal during a night out. I always adore eating here but it just misses the mark a bit on food each time. I will keep dining here and look forward to it getting all 5 stars next time.
During the pandemic, we don’t eat out much. We decided we needed a nice meal, so we went to Cucina Enoteca. Reservations are the best bet. I ordered the Burrata, Pear and Persimmon dish. Looked wonderful....but had a long dark hair in it! The replacement had no persimmon in it, they must have rushed to get a replacement to me. There was no price adjustment to make up for the hair issue.
The hummus and margarita pizza were good
The servers were pretty good.
We’ll return, but hold the long hair in the food!
Service was fabulous! Took some time (20 minutes) to get seated but not a big deal. Food tasted delicious. The menu has been shortened, again not a big deal. Server helped select a fantastic Pinot. Was a bit disappointed with the meat and cheese board... more like a small plate and the variety of yummies were much smaller compared to past visits. They ran out of the tasty crackers and offered bread as a substitute. Tiramisu was amazing! Patio offered great ambiance and was heated. We look forward to our next visit.
Our weekly “family dinner” night was a delicious experience on their beautiful fireplace lit patio!
My friends and I had a lovely time on your charming, inviting patio!! The entrees were lovely, and we felt that the restaurant was following the Covid guidelines, to the letter! We will be back and hope to dine inside, which is a work of art, when it is safe! Nancy
Farm to table fresh food, great flavors, and very reasonable prices make Cucina Enoteca a wonderful dining experience. We highly recommend.
I have to say I came here a couple years ago and didn’t like it. I hadn’t returned since then. I decided to make a reservation with my family a few weeks prior to this day and I accidentally made it for the Spectrum location. So we drove to the Spectrum location as the Newport location did not serve lunch at the time. It was delicious, every bite! I was so excited and I was glad I gave it another chance. So I booked the Newport location for today. Awful. I ordered meatballs to begin with and two iced teas. I asked for straws and Splenda and it took asking three times to get the Splenda. We placed our order for our main dishes and the meatballs still hadn’t come out. So I asked our server and he said, “oh yes, they should be coming shortly.” (I’m pretty sure he forgot to put the order in). Meanwhile, some of the main dishes came out and the meatballs still had not arrived. Finally, the meatballs arrived, and they were so tough... I was so disappointed. My daughter ordered the same dish that she ordered at the Spectrum and this one in Newport was completely off. She didn’t even eat it, and she’s not a picky eater. We ordered another dish for my other child, penne with butter, it came out and it was spaghetti with butter. And if your a true pasta eater you know that penne and spaghetti do taste different. While the waiter was nice, it was bad service. I’m sad to say that if I want to have the same experience I did at the spectrum I would have to drive there instead of going to the location that is closer to my home in Newport. I very rarely write a review. But this was so the polar opposite of our experience at the spectrum, I had to and it saddened me.
Beautiful location, great service, would highly recommend!
Nice meal outside on the patio. It was quiet, the food was excellent, as usual, and service was good. Nice lunch with friends.
This was not a good experience.
We were seated at an outside table that was 10 ft from the street, it was cold and the table was too high for the chairs, and the ambiance was horrible. We asked to be moved and they did. They brought the wrong drinks, did not have set ups on the table and had to ask for forks to eat with after the appetizers were served. Food was only average and it was a very limited menu, probably due to Covid. We asked for separate checks and the were wrong so the waitress redid them and they were still wrong. No manager o site or at least one did not come to our aid. Mostly very young servers with no experience. With so many wonderful restaurants in Newport/Fashion Island, why would we ever go back to this one.
Outdoor patio was cozy and warm.
Always Felicia food. Gem salad.
Squash flower.
Truffle fries.
:)
Service and food were outstanding. Was not over-crowded in the covered patio area.
God we love this place. Firstly, they've done COVID really well - outdoor patio, heaters overhead, good spacing.
Second the food OMG the food. Just get this - you can thank me later. Order the burnt brussels sprouts + ivan’s hot sauce first as your shared appetizer. Damn they are good. Then order the Bucatini with the egg and the Short rib Papardelle pasta. Share it. Wash it down with a couple of glasses of the Austin Hope Cabernet. OMG. I can't wait to go back!
The place was OK. Food and service were fine. Overall a good spot to meet with friends and catch up.
a bit of let down from our usual
we love all the Cucina restaurants, including San Diego (been there 6+ times, including their covid-19 pop-up), Newport (3+ times), Irvine (3+ times)
our favorite has been the squash blossom, grilled octopus, and magherita pizza
this time, we had all of the above, and the squid ink linguine which we normally liked too
but the noodles were bad this time, smelled foul and tasted off
clams were okay, it was just the noodles.
the server took care of it for me and put it off the bill as well as was sorry for the mistake kitchen sent out
when we returned home, we were sick for the night from the few bites of pasta we ate
thankfully recovered mostly the next day
I understand during covid-19, operations is tough. just to be able to source these ingredients is no easy task already.
but a few short-cuts were taken
the octopus was deep fried and not grilled
magherita pizza had very little basil (about 8~9 little slices, 3 of which were stems, not leaves)
a bit sad but it is what it is.
my favorite Cucina is still Urbana in San Diego
heck, Ive driven down from LA county twice for that place...
just hope the Newport beach one can pick up the slack and get back to the glory it should have been
We went for lunch and great entrees. The ambiance was very nice with outside tables.
Overall, we had a great experience and want to extend our gratitude to the manager on duty for all he did to recover our evening, the chef for personally delivering our first dish, and the food runners & our server Allison for their wonderful service.
Very good food, full of flavors and good services
We went for lunch on the patio and the food and service were excellent, as always.
COVID safe dining - check! Wonderful food - check! Excellent service - check! Hats off to our server, Steven, for going to extra mile. This was a dining experience we won’t forget any time soon, especially after being at home for so many months.
perfect venue for covid with covered patio and heat lamps
We have always loved coming here, the food is so delicious, and so are the cocktails. I always seem to order the half roasted chicken, because its so flavorful and I can usually take the other half home with me. With Covid, they seat you in the outside garden room, with heaters and a fireplace. Only downside, its very loud, so its not a real romantic setting, but just getting out to eat , makes it worth it. Service has Always been excellent.
One of our favorite spots for some yummy wine and Italian food! The wine shop carries a unique selection of wine.
I am happy Cucina is open again. We frequently dine here. Today I ordered the clam linguine. I really didn’t like it and don’t recommend this dish.
