Came here with a small group for dinner and honestly wasn't expecting much. I was happily satisfied with our meal. The service was quite slow—probably the only downside of the meal—even though it was not busy. The food and company, however, made up for it. We ordered the chicken liver pate (not my first choice, but was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of the pate and fig as well as the smooth texture). The mushroom pizza was larger than I anticipated, a perfectly crisp, yet chewy crust with bold flavor. And the bucatini pasta was another highlight. Wonderful bright flavors and textures.
Great food, the papardelle with short ribs was delicious. The pizza pepperoni and fennel sausage with a farm egss is divine! OH, the stuffed zucchini blossoms are a must!!! The refreshing lemonades are top notch, my fav is the lavendar lemonade! I recommend this restaurant to all.
I love this place and eat here frequently but last nights waiter was rushing everything from the moment we sat and felt like I was ordering takeout at McDonalds. not the service last night were used to....
The lasagna was just ok.
It was my Moms Bd and we spent 15 mins trying to fix the wobble table. Someone needs to go around and check the tables. It was annoying! Overall it was ok. Dishes are pricey for food that’s ok. Thanks for the experience thou. We prob won’t be back ;(
It was very quiet Sunday. The food, some of it was very good and some of it was overcooked. The service was very slow that day. Usually the food is very good and the service is very good. Do not know what happened that day. I will go back. But not on a Sunday.
Energetic, fun, indoor and door restaurant surrounded by casual and comfortable decor and wine store.
Nice atmosphere.... good happy hour deals for $7 a glass. It’s their house wine but was really good and enjoyable. Brussels sprouts were delicious! Good value and nice surroundings!
Service was bad but the food was excellent.
Great food and service. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would come back.
This was our first visit to CUCINA Enoteca and it was very charming! We came to celebrate Easter and we were all delighted with the menu offerings and the beautiful decor. One of our favorite moments was having my 11 year old son make his own pizza tableside then they baked it in the wood fire oven! Cool idea! Our starter was the Truffle Parm fries which we devoured and our main entrees were the Margherita pizza and Short Rib Pappardelle. All entrees were scrumptious! We’re looking forward to a return visit to try the other delectable entrees. This is now one of my favorite restaurants!
The quality of the white wine was poor. I ordered the Bucatini All' Amatriciana and the guanciale was burnt and hard and the pasta was of satisfactory quality.
The place has a very romantic and cozy atmosphere due to the wonderful interior design. Other than that, there wasn't anything else about the restaurant that will make me come back. The food is alright, a bit more on the salty side. I would recommend people to go for the experience and the truffle fries, but other than that, their main dish is mediocre and service is moderate.
We waited more than 10 minutes for a server to approach us. We waited more than 10 minutes for a glass of wine after the order was placed. The pasta was way undercooked. The appetizer arrived after the main course. No service with a smile. I think the waiter could not be bothered to offer a good experience for us. I will not be returning. I will not be recommending it to my friends and family. I hope this is helpful, as I know how hard the restaurant business can be.
Relaxing. Great food.
It was a girls’ lunch celebrating two birthdays. Chelsea was our service and she was outstanding.
When your gluten allergic customer asks for the roasted chicken without the sauce or farro, it shouldn’t be a big deal. The server looked at me like I was going to offend the chef and told me I was completely changing the dish and I should choose something else. Maybe that would be ok if you all were fast food or quick service, but you are a fine dining establishment and should have plenty of fresh options available for your customer. Chicken and veggies doesn’t seem offensive to me or the to the many other great restaurants out there that was willing to make minor adjustments. Before you talk about that you offer gluten free pasta, that isn’t what I was ordering....pasta is rarely done well as gluten free and it’s usually full of corn products. And, I wasn’t ordering pasta to begin with...
Also, the server was continued to be un attentive...he had to flag him down for another glass of wine...and while we weren’t interested in dessert we would have had a cup of coffee to keep chatting, but he never offered. Oh well...used to be a huge fan of your brand...not so much after Tues.
The pasta and meatballs are always good. We enjoy the variety of choices and the large wine list.
I have been a devoted customer of Cucina Enoteca since they opened in Orange County. I generally eat there every 2-3 months with family, friends and business colleagues. I even chose Cucina at Fashion Island for my 50th birthday party a few years ago. Unfortunately something has changed in both Irvine locations over the last few months. I have had 4 meals ranging from mediocre to bad. The meal I had last Sunday was Cavatelli Carbonara. It should not be too hard to make Carbonara, and I don't mind creative twists. But this was almost unrecognizable. There was very little parmesan, the sauce was thin, the pancetta had an odd flavor, and the peas were large nearly crunchy English types. The pasta itself was cooked OK but looked like insect larvae, not typical cavatelli pattern. My mother had lasagne that was OK but tasted more like meatloaf with a few noodles mixed in. The tiramisu was different than in the past. Thought topped with chocolate shavings -- fine -- it also had lots of dried raspberries that totally dominated and ruined the experience. Since this is the 4th disappointing meal in a row in two separate locations, I might finally give up.
The food was good but pricey. The service was very slow (over an hour to get food after ordering) and some menu items were not available.
I was worried that this place would be "too fancy" for my kids. I wanted a nice restaurant for my dad but still approachable for my picky eaters. This place filled both requirements! Great food!
I have dined at Cucina Enoteca several times and this is the first time I was disappointed. It was a cloudy day and the patio wasn't crowded at all yet our server wasn't very attentive. I had to go in and return my burnt pizza to the hostess. Then the waitress came over with the pizza and asked what was wrong with it, then the manager came over and asked the same. I had to wait for another pizza to be fired up and by the time my pizza was delivered everyone else was done. The pizza had a delicious taste until I hit the black, scorched bottom. Management did fire up an additional pie but they did not attempt to compensate me for my time or the inconvenience of waiting. I was disappointed by the service and now I don't think I will return. It's sad because I have enjoyed many lunches here and encourage my friends to join me on the patio where I feel taken back to an Italian outdoor bistro.
Service was probably the best we have had since we have been coming there.
Sad about the burrata jar. We really liked that dish.
This is my favorite restaurant, but last night I was disappointed. The short rib pappardelle is my favorite dish along with the chopped salad. The salad has had too much dressing the last 2 times. The pasta was over cooked and there was barely any meat. I also realized that the only comfortable seating on the patio is if you get to sit on the bench which I haven’t been able to do the past few times. Not sure why they don’t replace the chairs. They don’t fit with the tables. Very uncomfortable.
Service was attentive and dinner was great! Plenty of seating for a last minute 4:30 early dinner reservation( which were not needed). Suggestion.. dimmer on lights should be turned up two notches. Funny to see most tables using phone flashlights, including mine, just to read the menu. (Overcast rainy day)
We had a wonderful dining experience here last saturday for lunch for our teenage daughter's birthday. The pizza, as always, is fantastic as were the spicy Brussel sprouts appetizer that we love. We always purchase wine in the shop prior to enjoy with our meal and never cease to be amazed at the great variety and selection. Our server was spot-on and extremely attentive. We appreciated the complimentary birthday dessert with the sweet and salty crumble on top. Cucina Enoteca is well-worth the drive from Brea for us and we always have a great dining experience. We will continue to consider it one of our favorite restaurants as well as recommend it to others!
We went for the OC Restaurant Week. It was amazing, food was so delicious.
Everything was pretty good this time. Restaurant was very busy and i understand waiters rushing but the young woman that actually delivered our food practically threw it at us. She needs to so slow down and smile at her customers.
First time to Cucina Enoteca. Really enjoyed the experience. Great food, wine, and cocktail choices. We look forward to coming back.
Such a fun place to eat! Every time I have gone, we always have had good food. This last visit the service wasn't the best. But overall I have had good service. Would recommend this place to anyone.
I wish they tended to their servers a little. We had to wait and repeat our request a couple times. The server did not seem to care. Of course he was busy but his attitude did not help.
Went in with my wife and tried there Restaurant Week menu and it was delicious as always. My wife and I had a great dinner paired with a great bottle of wine.
Great date with the wife
Always love this place. The rock music outside in the Spectrum kinda ruined the vibe for methis time. I'll be back anyway :)
Brussels sprouts awesome. So was the salmon. Service wasn't great. Had to keep flagging waiter down for water and he never filled our wine glasses.
Also women's restroom was a disaster which I brought to waiter's attention before we even sat down, but nothing was done about it. Doesn't really help your appetite when that's one of the first things you see before
Food is terrific. Service in the bar could be better. Service at our table was awesome.
Not sure though when you buy a bottle of their own wine, you have to pay a $9.00 corkage fee.... That doesn't make sense
Waitress was on point and incredibly friendly.
Terrific branzino (zero bones), great chopped salad and don't miss the brussels sprouts. Service was spot on and reservation honored at time requested.
Always consisent with service and quality - drinks are pretty yummy too!
