Chef & owner Brian Canipelli opened Cucina 24 in 2008 on Wall Street in the center of downtown Asheville, NC.

Our kitchen is focused on melding the traditions and philosophies of Italian cookery with ingredients found in the mountains of the American South.

We work closely with a number of area farms and our menus reflect produce that they bring to us.

Chef Brian has three children, Mia, Skylar and Luca.

We eat here once a year, and it's not because we don't want to; we live in another state, 12 hours away, and every June we pass through Asheville on our way back from 2 weeks at the beach, just to eat here! I don't need to tell you about certain dishes, because they change all the time. But the ingredients and preparations are fresh and original, and even though we haven't been in for 12 months, our server, Maggie, remembered us. And there's absolutely nothing special about us, except that we just love this place. See you next year!

We ordered the tasting menu and the staff did not inform us that the regular tasting menu dessert was not available. Instead, they brought out chocolate pudding covered in kettle chips. This was a true let down. Had they informed us prior to ordering that the 'complete' tasting menu was not available, we may not have ordered it. The menu's a la carte dishes looked great, which is the only reason that I may recommend this restaurant to others.

Wonderful dinner at our favorite Asheville restaurant. Last minute weekend get away to Asheville and we were able to score a reservation at Cucina. My husband loves the beet salad and I had the best mussels I have ever had. We shared a bottle of their Vermentino which topped the meal off perfectly. Our server was attentive without being intrusive and let us linger over our coffee. Overall a perfect meal and we will be sure to return.

We tried the special menu. The multiple vegetable starters were bland, uninteresting and the entire meal contained far too much squash. The fish was OK, but nothing special and a bit overcooked. The meal was expensive by Asheville standards, so I was even more disappointed than if the price had been lower. The dessert was, imho, a disaster. While I appreciated that the polenta-ish base was not overly sweet, it was too strongly flavored with (thyme? rosemary?) and tasted more like a savory than a sweet. I don't much care for ice cream over savories. The chef should quit experimenting.

Great food. We chose the 4 course and we’re so glad. The dishes were not your standard Italian (lasagna) and were amazing. Four courses and the first two served family style. First was four tastings of some of the most wonderful and unique anti pastas. Then two pasta tastings. For entree I chose scallops (out of this world) and hubby chose duck (also very good). Dessert was a polenta custard with salted caramel sauce and ice cream. Ice cream made with brown butter and thyme. Yum!!

We had the most fabulous experience. We chose the tasting menu and they were able to make some vegetarian accommodations so we could still participate. The food utilized the freshest local ingredients in a way that was familiar-Italian but still modern and unexpected. I loved every bite. Our server was fun, friendly, and informative throughout the meal and even gave us some recommendations for the rest of our trip. I would highly highly suggest making a stop here when you visit Asheville.

We came in for our first time last night, and we’re still talking about our meal. The service was fantastic, and everything we tasted was amazing. Definitely choose the five course tasting menu, it’s worth it.

Excellent front hostess greeting to end of meal- excellent service ... started with foccacia- authentic with delish OO and salted butter- perfect texture!! Then we shared the green Pizza and it was worth the 19$price tag - amazing! Shared the frutti de mar and it was cooked to perfection- the scallop shrimp and mussels all perfectly moist and not over cooked as most are... we were too full for dessert but will try the strawberry shortbread next time. Service was great!! I’ll be back!!!! Thank you for a great date night !

Food was great for the most part. My only complaint was that they did not offer any green vegetables as sides. The salad was our only option for something green, and the dressing was weak. Pastas were delicious, bread was served cold (as in out of the fridge cold). Desserts were not interesting. Wine list was all Italian. All in all, I would return and would recommend this restaurant.

Excellent, interesting food. We did the “tasting” menu which included 5-7 “courses.”’ Most of the “tastings” were vegetable based and very small portions for the two of us to share. So we were not stuffed when we left. It was a full, satisfying meal. I would have like to have seen at least one fish or meat based portion before the entree.

Our server was Kim. She was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Definitely a 5 Star server. The service in general was attentive and well-paced, as befitting a restaurant at this price point.

We had a delicious meal. My husband and I ordered two different entrees and shared. We both enjoyed our meals. We had a bottle of wine which perfectly complemented our selections. We would have done the tapas offering but my husband has food allergies and would not have been able to enjoy the food. Our waiter was excellent and the restaurant was immaculately clean.

Just a really special place to try something different. Excellent servers and food. Bartender made lovely drinks also and seemed very knowledgable. Discovered this place on the Eating Asheville tour and knew immediately we had to dine here. We did the tasting menu of 5 courses and were very happy.

After trying a couple of other restaurants in Asheville this was by far our favorite. The food was tasty and the portions were large. I was worried that the food would be mediocre due to the larger number of reviews and the fact that it was based in the main tourist section of Asheville. I was pleasantly surprised.

We came here celebrating our one year wedding anniversary! We spent our honeymoon in northern Italy and wanted a culinary experience reminiscent of the dining experiences we had there. This place delivered! One of the most authentic Italian dining experiences we’ve had in the states!

Chefs tasting was not well composed. Parts were great. The buckwheat pasta was too bland to eat and the pork was nothing but oversalted tenderloin cooked too quickly. Our waiter was great and the service was prompt.

At the last minute, we were able to get reservations and we were so glad. Excellent on every level. Creative menu and one of the nicest wait staff we've experienced. I had the flat iron steak and husband had the rigatoni. We wish we had another day in Asheville to dine there again

My first visit to the classic and well established Cucina 24. We were not disappointed.
Service / wait staff was clearly a graduate student of the chef’s food prep, & presentation- sharing s story w/ each course.
We decided to pursue the “what’s cooking” multi-course and was wonderfully overwhelmed by creative & tasty dishes. The Arctic Salad w/White anchovy sauce is one of a kind. The unique pasta dishes and compliments were mini-explosions in your mouth.
I highly recommend visiting Cucina 24 when visiting or living in Asheville.

It was absolutely wonderful! Fantastic cocktail menu. I had a difficult time choosing between 5 drinks 😂 I tried two and they were both incredibly well-balanced and unique. The food and service were both superb.

Came in with my parents and their friends. We were in town for a car show and decided on this place after a very brief google search. Absolutely lived up to my expectations. Service was fantastic. Our server was able to offer great suggestions for drinks and was very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was stellar. From the olives and the bread to everyone sharing bites of what they got I think we were all more than happy. Portion sizes were spot on as well. Just very, very well done. I can't wait to come back!

Our first time at Cucina 24. The food and service were excellent. The pasta is made fresh. Our was nade with buck wheat flour and was delicious. The deserts were very good.
My husband is hard of hearing. This is one of the few restrurants that people spoke in “restrurant voices”. We had an enjoyable evening and will be adding Cucina 24 to our favorites list.

i have been dining at Cucina24 for almost 10 years now. And over that time it has had it's ups and downs but it is back with gusto! The a la carte menu provides a variety of fresh and well executed Italian dishes but for the more adventurous try the family style Chef's Meal. It was outstanding, unique and delicious!

Really interesting foods on the tasting menu. Loved the odd vegetables, nasturtiums and ricotta, radishes and butter, kale pesto. Knowledgeable waiter willing to answer questions.

The menu has variety and two ways to dine. Order delicious meals or experience a dining array of foods for one price/pp. My husband and I did the latter and our taste buds went on an exciting adventure from appetizer thru dessert! We sat at the Chefs counter and watched as each food plate was prepared. Brian, chef, explained each exquisite delicacy placed in front of us and we were not disappointed. 5 stars!

This was the best restaurant we dined at in Asheville during a three day visit. The food was outstanding and was on par with most any restaurant anywhere. No, this is not classic Italian food. It takes off from Italian and soars from there. Unique cocktails lead. The Forest Floor was a refreshing mezcal based drink. The wine menu was solid with interesting, hard to find Italian options. We went with a well priced Ligurian white. The tasting menu is updated daily. Highlights when we were there were the grilled sardines, salt cod tater tots, ricotta stuffed buckwheat ravioli, the halibut, and the perfect ending of polenta custard with brown butter, salted caramel and thyme gelato. And what a deal at less than $50 a person! Helpful staff and a warm, casual setting.
