Cucina 24 Ratings and Reviews
My wife and 15 & 11 year old went for dinner. My daughter had Gnnochi, Son had a beatiful pasta sausage bowl, my wife had a special, I had the carbonara. A server/manager/owner came by and put a plate of house made pasta with emulsified pasta water (cooked down for sauce) with pepper and some spices. Outstanding. Great wine list. If you like hearty small plate authentic Italian dishes, you've got to stop in. It was the last night of a mini vacation and we couldn't have capped it off any better!
We have been to Cucina 24 about 5 times now and it never fails to impress. The tasting menu gives you a little bit of lots of items on the menu, so if you have the time, go for it. You may become acquainted with something delicious that you would not normally order. The traditional side of the menu is great too. The focaccia bread (you have to order it) is probably the best bread I've ever had in a restaurant. This time, I had the whole snapper with raisins and pignoli nuts. I almost didn't order it because I didn't want to mess with bones, etc. I asked if they would remove the head and tail and bones, which they did. I am sooo glad I asked. This fish was amazing. So moist and flavorful. My husband and mother-in-law had beef carpaccio with a fantastic sauce. Yummy. His pasta with sausage was spot on delicious. She raved about her zuppa de pesche. As always, excellent service. I am surprised that this restaurant is not in Asheville's top 10 more often. It is definitely on ours and we eat out there a lot.
Food was good, but not great. The service was fine, but a bit too casual. The hostess needs training; she could not bring herself to smile during the entire exchange and seemed annoyed that we had decided to dine at Cucina 24. She takes no pride in her work and that reflects poorly in her employer. Overall, an okay experience that could have been great if the restaurant had tried a bit harder.
I have been several times and have always enjoyed Cucina 24. We were a party of 7 on Dec. 30th for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Everyone ordered cocktails which took a very long time to come. The food was outstanding and we had lots of it - snail toast, foccacia, hangar steak, several pastas. It was all wonderful. The service however, was not up to the standard of the food. Our vegetarian friend asked several questions about meatless options and was assured that her pasta would be made without bacon; it wasn't. Two of our party ordered at the same time as everyone else but apparently their order was never submitted as 5 of us were done eating by the time their food came. Our second bottle of wine also took a very long time to arrive. It was a busy night, but isn't that what popular Asheville restaurants want and expect? The food made up for the bad service and I will go back.
Celebrating mom’s retirement. Excellent service, our server was engaging yet never over bearing and gave us an excellent wine recommendation. Food was delicious and straightforward. The dual menus were super fun and was very unique. Prefect for two ladies to enjoy some wine and not feel pressured to over order ect. Will defiantly return ASAP!
Great food. Had the Chef's Tasting Menu which really was both fun and delicious. The service staff was great. Our only complaint is that we also chose the pairing wine. Four half glasses of wine for $35 was not a good value. Two glasses of sparkling wine and two $12 a glass reds comes up short. In addition, my wife had fish and I had the quail yet we ended up with the same exact wine. The sommelier needs more training. Otherwise, great place to go. Our second favorite in Asheville.
We waited 40 minutes between 1st and 2nd courses, soup then pasta. At the end of the meal they offered to buy us a bottle of wine and dessert. Nice offer but we had no time to partake. Had a previous engagement.
Aggregating because people around us were being serviced. They gave is no explanation for the delay. Oh and Brussel spouts were not carmelized but burnt
The staff was nothing short of spectacular. We were assisted by no less than four servers over the course of our meal. They were constantly attending to our every need without being obtrusive.
The food was great. We stayed fairly vanilla in our selections because we had our kids, but the small plates presented as well as they tasted and the pizza was fantastic.
This was our first visit to Cucina24. The server did a nice job of helping us order appropriate portions. The restaurant is very cozy and intimate. The salads we had were tasty, but nothing special. We shared a entree the tagliatelle bolognese. While the pasta itself was very very good, the ragú was bland.
My date and I both chose main dishes from the new family style offering without committing to the entire set menu at $45 each. We had to ask if that option was available as the menu didn’t mention it. The waitress said anything was available on request and the pricing would be comparable to mains on the normal menu. As price wasn’t the issue we chose the duck leg and sea bass. To our surprise they were both priced at the low end of the normal mains. That impressed us on the value scale.
Both dishes were excellently crafted to highlight the flavor of the meats while adding depth with complementary flavors.
Our waitress was always there when we needed her and she seemed to have an excellent understanding of the evening’s menu and the extensive wine list. Excellent service.
Cucina 24 stands out in the many excellent culinary choices Asheville offers. It’s now on our top 3 list that we’ll return to over and over.
Absolutely loved our dinner at Cucina! We almost went back our second night in town. Specifically enjoyed our Tequlia cocktail, best bread ever and cheese plate, with an awesome menu including devious lamb ragu and branzino. Highly recommend - we’ll definitely be back to Asheville and Cucina!
Cucina24 is a long time Asheville Superstar. Always a treat, service is top-notch (thanks again, Kim! and Nick) and the food is just really damn delicious. Bravo, Cucina for maintaining excellence and integrity for so long in our ever-changing "food town" (remember when there were just a few stars?).
