Cucina 24 Ratings and Reviews
We had the tasting menu... super delicious, unique and great value! Atmosphere, server attitude, and service was extraordinary. Awesome experience where everyone is enjoying the food and it was the evening after Valentines... It's at the top of my AVL foodie list.
So Valentines is always difficult to plan. Cucina 24 is one of my favorites, but this meal was special. Their “family meal” was tapas on steroids. It just kept coming, and coming. Each dish a little more special, and the staff was great at explaining what it was and how it was prepared. It’s always great when you feel everyone is part of the experience.
Amazing food. We are still talking about it.
What a wonderful experience. Finding great Italian food in Asheville isn't easy and Cucina24 exceeded all expectations. We shared the family style meal and were delighted with every unique, delicious and healthy offering. Certainly not your typical Italian dishes but we left totally satisfied and anxious to return. Grazie, Paisano!
Cucina 24 was the absolute perfect place to celebrate my 40th birthday. We chose to order the family style tasting menu which was fabulous and a fun way to spend a special evening. Each dish was wonderful and perfect, showcasing not only the talents of chef Brian Canipelli and his crew, but also the quality of local ingredients. We loved the cocktails and old world-focused wine list. Our server, Malcom, was exceptional as well-- his professionalism, knowledge, and personality made the night even more memorable. My family traveled from far and wide to be with me in Asheville for the occasion-- I am so happy with our experience and would recommend it to anyone.
Food was ok but presentation has declined .Really small entree portions 2”x3” piece of fish not really satisfying. Asked if it was special occasion (a birthday) but don’t know why, no acknowledgement. And service was really really terrible. This used to be a favorite but I believe they are getting complacent.
A wonderful restaurant with great service and tasty food. Handy to everything downtown, nice atmosphere and fair prices. Our meal of two antipasto's, the fried artichokes were excellent, the PEI Mussels were good, but a couple were a day or two older. thea lamb sausage pasta was just right and rigatoni al’ amatriciana was excellent.
Our waiter Anthony was attentive, but not intrusive and never let our wine glasses empty.
We have heard good things about this place and decided to give it a try before attending a concert nearby. The menu was a little difficult to understand for our first time, (tasting menu, portions of tasting menu, regular menu, wine listed in two locations, etc.) and our server was nearly zero help with it. When we asked questions, instead of a good explanation, we were given one or two word answers. The food was good, and I think our experience would have been better with a different server. There were two male servers nearby, who seemed much more helpful with their diners, which is how we gleaned most of our information, just too late to apply to our own ordering experience. We'll try it again in the future and hope for a different server., or maybe just eat at the bar.
Excellent food, excellent drink and wine list. Had an office dinner here and was very happy with our experience. While the tasting menu looked spectacular, people opted for the a la carte menu, which also had excellent choices. While the main courses were very good (branzino, hanger steaks, and porchetta were selected at the table), I personally thought the pasta dishes were the highlight. Handmade pasta and some incredible sauces... I had the oxtail sugo and it might be one of the best pasta dishes I have had outside of Italy. The chef / owner has major talent. While we brought our own wine (with a very reasonable $15 corkage fee per bottle), the wine selection I saw on the menu was impressive.
Service was acceptable, but a little slow. Honestly, we were so busy talking it wasn't a big deal to us.
Definitely worth the visit and highly recommend this restaurant!
Superb food and atmosphere in downtown Asheville! Interesting menu with a balance of „regular“ items and „what we‘re cooking“ items which change weekly. The whole Bronzino was incredible. Celebrated my moms birthday there and they were very accommodating for special requests across 3 generations. Food came very slowly, but was fine for a celebration dinner out. Just don’t be in a hurry! Everything made individually to order.
My wife and I had the tasting menu that is per person price where the whole table shares each dish except a main course chosen by each person. It was fantastic with about 8 courses. All were distinctly tasty and fresh and perfectly prepared. East Fork (local) stoneware plating is a nice touch and rustic feel. Nice wine list by the glass. I will be going back. Good service by staff, with knowledge of the menu and wine list.
It was a week night and weekends may be much louder than our very nice noise level.
For a late-evening dinner, we only tried a few small plates. Excellent selection and preparation. We want to come back with bigger appetites for the full tasting dinner. But we will stick to a late seating. The space looked like it would be very noisy when full.
We were excited about dining here but to our dismay were sorely disappointed! We were encouraged by the server to order the preset menu. 2 hours later we didn’t have our entree and our server was absent! Our reservations were at 8:15. By 10:15 we had been left with minimal dishes and an empty restaurant! Manager seemed apathetic and compted our “meal!” But we had a really nice bottle of wine!! On us!! Will NOT be back or recommend!! Sorry Cucina 24!! Lost our business!!
My wife and 15 & 11 year old went for dinner. My daughter had Gnnochi, Son had a beatiful pasta sausage bowl, my wife had a special, I had the carbonara. A server/manager/owner came by and put a plate of house made pasta with emulsified pasta water (cooked down for sauce) with pepper and some spices. Outstanding. Great wine list. If you like hearty small plate authentic Italian dishes, you've got to stop in. It was the last night of a mini vacation and we couldn't have capped it off any better!
We have been to Cucina 24 about 5 times now and it never fails to impress. The tasting menu gives you a little bit of lots of items on the menu, so if you have the time, go for it. You may become acquainted with something delicious that you would not normally order. The traditional side of the menu is great too. The focaccia bread (you have to order it) is probably the best bread I've ever had in a restaurant. This time, I had the whole snapper with raisins and pignoli nuts. I almost didn't order it because I didn't want to mess with bones, etc. I asked if they would remove the head and tail and bones, which they did. I am sooo glad I asked. This fish was amazing. So moist and flavorful. My husband and mother-in-law had beef carpaccio with a fantastic sauce. Yummy. His pasta with sausage was spot on delicious. She raved about her zuppa de pesche. As always, excellent service. I am surprised that this restaurant is not in Asheville's top 10 more often. It is definitely on ours and we eat out there a lot.
Food was good, but not great. The service was fine, but a bit too casual. The hostess needs training; she could not bring herself to smile during the entire exchange and seemed annoyed that we had decided to dine at Cucina 24. She takes no pride in her work and that reflects poorly in her employer. Overall, an okay experience that could have been great if the restaurant had tried a bit harder.
I have been several times and have always enjoyed Cucina 24. We were a party of 7 on Dec. 30th for dinner. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Everyone ordered cocktails which took a very long time to come. The food was outstanding and we had lots of it - snail toast, foccacia, hangar steak, several pastas. It was all wonderful. The service however, was not up to the standard of the food. Our vegetarian friend asked several questions about meatless options and was assured that her pasta would be made without bacon; it wasn't. Two of our party ordered at the same time as everyone else but apparently their order was never submitted as 5 of us were done eating by the time their food came. Our second bottle of wine also took a very long time to arrive. It was a busy night, but isn't that what popular Asheville restaurants want and expect? The food made up for the bad service and I will go back.
