food and drinks were perfect - only minor complaint is that our server took our bread plate when we weren’t done using it, and she took our cocktails before we were finished.
Overpriced food. Bland, unimpressive tasting menu, but great service. Plenty of other great restaurants to check out in Asheville. Skip this one.
Food was decent. Sweetbreads were excellent. Service was slow and spotty. It seemed to just be our particular server. Very inattentive.
Amazing. The food was outstanding and it was the perfect evening to celebrate our first anniversary.
Great food and wine. Exceptional menu. Very creative and it changes often. I highly recommend this place. Good spot for foodies!
Excellent. Never fails to impress. Even a light meal is a feast.
My daughter and I had a delicious quiet meal. Service was great!
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous meal that included mussels, turnips, rigatoni and tagliatelle. Everything was wonderful
Cucina 24 is the best restaurant in Asheville. Brian the owner/chef is the most energetic and creative chef in Asheville. It is amazing to me that after all these years he continues to create an amazing menu and so often. So many restaurants you visit have the exact same menu they had 6 or even 12 months ago....not Cucina. Each week there's a new delicious surprise. Want just a very casual meal go for the pizza.....Jimmy's pizzas are some of the best I have ever eaten.
We got the family dinner/fixed price. Very interesting and delicious. Excellent fish segundo.
Great food, attentive service and cool setting; but, from the moment we walked out of the reception area we had the overwhelming smell of fish and we took that scent home with us even requiring winter coats to need dry-cleaning to remove. Won’t be back until the ventilation is fixed/upgraded.
We had a family reunion celebration dinner with fifteen people. We chose the sample option with the courses served family style and the entree chosen individually
Our server was amazing!! Not one bite was off. All our dinners arrived at the same time and we felt pampered.
We would certainly go back again.
Food and service were exceptionally!
Truly enjoyed the ambiance of Cucina 24. Service was superb. Food was delicious. Asked for a wine recommendation for my Main choice and was rewarded with a perfect match.
Highly recommend Cucina 24 to anyone looking for an excellent meal with fantastic service.
Service (both drinks & food) was very slow. Appetizer assortment was good, but no one raved about the entrees. Tagliatelle bolognese was bland & lacked depth of flavor. They didn’t offer grated Parmesan & didn’t have salt & pepper on the table - by the time we got it, the food was cold.
We chose the fixed menu option which gave us a variety of item to choose. As a result we enjoyed some dishes and did not like others. The portions are small. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. A variety of servers brought our food in shifts and would explain each dish. I did not like the fact that all the wines on the menu are Italian. Should have some other choices. If I returned I don't think I would choose the fixed menu.
Ultimately we were disappointed. We had the tasting menu, which was Veneto-based and very intriguing. We unfortunately had the very best dishes of the evening at the very beginning of our meal. The radicchio agrodolce and kohlrabi were terrific and and elevated both main ingredients. Sadly, the baccala fritters that followed were bland to the point that I wouldn't have known the main ingredient without reading the menu and the mozzarella, while fresh, was uninspired and the "fried focaccia" was closer to overcooked pieces of bread crust that had stayed in the oven too long. Both of the pastas were fine; the bigoli with duck ragu was tasty but needed seasoning and the stuffed casonesi were deliciously filled but disappointingly undercooked. For the main courses, the scallops were perfectly cooked as was the polenta but the textures together were like eating baby food. It needed something, anything to distinguish it. The duck leg entree was far better but very sweet. Butternut squash puree and carrots will do that and the frisee was just cumbersome and added nothing to the dish but annoyance. The Apple Butter crostata for dessert was delicious as was the salted caramel ice cream on top. Wine list was excellent and we were very happy with the sparkling Rosato we chose to go along with the meal. Service was nice but erratic. We asked the server at the end of the meal if there were any amari available and she said they didn't have any, which was a surprise when I walked by the bar and saw nearly a dozen lined up in a row. We didn't receive any bread at the start of the meal but the couple that were sat next to us as we were having dessert received a huge quarter of a beautiful rounded loaf with their appetizers. When we asked about bread service "for next time" we were told there was focaccia on the menu. The loaf the others were served was nothing remotely resembling focaccia. Lots of disappointments at such a promising restaurant. Very sad we can't recommend.
Great food experience! This place is not just an Italian restaurant. It’s an experience that gives you an international culinary delight!
Best meal my husband and I have had in while! Mackenzie was amazing. Food and wine were perfect. Kitchen crushed.
Always a great experience!! This is one of my favorite restaurants in Asheville!!
NO! Not flavorful; quite bland.
The bolognese is a shame... The buffalo mozzarella and fried Foccacia was recommended but we did not find it very appetizing. It was pretty cold in this exiled back room. Should have told them to turn up the heat but ehhhh; I think they need to get their windows worked on, cold creeps in. Not everything was bad but overall it was very lackluster; the good reviews I had seen for this place on yelp and google led me to expect too much from it. The service was bland too. Very transactional exchanges. The server took care of us well but didn't find her inviting. I usually get dessert but wasn't going to bother with it after being dissatisfied with the initial dishes.
It was my birthday and the server didn't even say happy birthday to me when she checked my ID.
I will not return.
Birthday celebration not recognized
Great food! Noise from the bar below the restaurant made it almost impossible to have a conversation.
Awesome. Had the tasting menu, served family style. Great selection with varied ingredients and flavors. Only hiccup was a missed modification on our reservation - we increased from 4 to 5. I called to notify them, but they missed it. When we got to our table they told us we would be limited to 1 hour and 15 minutes! It ended up not being a problem though, and we stayed longer than “allowed”.
Excellent food and service. The tasting menu provided a delightful sampling of dishes.
Very good and creative menu, small plates to share before delicious main course! Excellent service too, do not miss enjoying a meal here!
The knowledge of the server and her embracing good nature was second to none. The food is to die for. Wine knowledge was also exceptional.
We've been going to Cucina for many years. Always great pasta and pizza and other bits too! Overall it was a delicious meal, but for a couple of things. Coffee at the end... blech.. Apple desert.. meh.. But the worst part was the music. Nice ambience in this restaurant, and I don't know who picked the top 40 crap that was playing, but it was abominable. We were sat near a speaker, so it made it worse. Dining is important to us and so is music. However, we are usually disappointed with the noise level of any music and feel that it never really "adds" anything to the experience. In this case - it definitely didn't. Oh well. Didn't complain this time, because the wine was so delicious and we were with friends and just couldn't be bothered. But...
I've been to Cucina 24 many times, and it's hard to understand the negative comments in some of the reviews: I've never had anything there that was less than good, and most of the time the food is outstanding. Service can vary a bit from one server to another (it's always a bit annoying how long it takes to get anything from the bar), but it's always at least competent. I particularly appreciate the extent to which the staff knows the extensive and unusual list of Italian wines. I agree with one other poster, though, that they really should pay more attention to keeping the online menu up to date. Since they have moved to the system of a prix fixe menu focused on different Italian regions, it's often the case that the menu online bears no resemblance to what's actually on offer. I sometimes don't see the connection between the "for the table" menu and the region it's supposed to highlight, but regardless, it's generally interesting and excellent.
This restaurant offers a tasting menu that’s wonderful! For those of us who have issues deciding what to order, this was the best recommendation that night! Kudos to the server who advised us of it. The menu changes monthly to allow patrons to experience tastes from different regions of Italy. Ours was truly enjoyable.
We were in Asheville for vacation and this was the best meal we had by far. I loved the tasting menu set-up, it's wonderful to be able to try multiple different things. All of the appetizers were unique and delicious, the pastas were fantastic. Our entrees were also great and perfectly portioned. One member of our party asked to substitute an entree from the regular menu on the tasting menu and they easily allowed this for a nominal fee, which was great. They also featured wines to match the menu which was lovely, and our craft cocktails were also unique and delicious, just like the food. We had wonderful service and a great experience. I would highly recommend!
We suggest you update the menu on Open Table. It was completely different than what we were given at the restaurant. Also if you truly want to do a upscale chefs table you may want to clean up the kitchen and the kitchen staff.
I thought the food was not good. We expected more. The flights of vegetables and pasta before the main courses, were not appealing or good. The main entrees were ok ( I had grilled sword fish). I would not return, with so many other great restaurants in town.
Great vibe, cool spot, excellent service and the food is amazing. Thank you Cucina 24!
Excellent all around. Highly recommend. Open kitchen interesting to watch. Ignore others’ negative comments on this site - very welcoming and food was heavenly- especially when the menu is Tuscany inspired! Only recommendation is to offer a few mid-priced wines, bottles price points a bit high.
One of my favorites has remade their menu approach and offered new options. I had a great greens salad and the zuppa de peace, as well as excellent cocktails. Really good job all around, and they have tamed the background music, so ambience is much better. Highly recommended.
Food was not great
Very impressed with the food and love the concept of changing the menu for a different region of Italy each time
Start with caviar and oysters!
Probably ordered the wrong thing for every dish. Seemed well executed but we just didn’t like much of anything we got.
