   I booked a reservation at Cucci two weeks in advance to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. What should have been a special night turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve ever had, due to discriminatory behavior, poor service, and subpar food. When my girlfriend arrived before me, she was treated with rudeness from the start. After politely declining to check her coat, a staff member muttered “That’s poor dining etiquette” under her breath. She arrived at the same time as an older white couple. The man went to the restroom, and when the host appeared, he asked the woman if she had a reservation and seated her. My girlfriend, despite having a reservation, was ignored until the host finally acknowledged her and said she had to wait for me before being seated. The host and a server also told her she was “blocking the entrance,” even though she had already moved aside as much as possible. When I arrived, the host’s attitude changed and we were seated - but in the worst spot, directly in front of the entrance. Despite noting in the reservation that it was a birthday, and being told we’d receive a special treat, nothing ever came. Meanwhile, other birthday tables received sparklers and desserts. Service was inattentive, with water refilled only once, and the food was bland and overpriced. My steak had no seasoning, the broccolini was bitter, and my girlfriend’s lamb was underwhelming. Drinks were poorly made, with no measuring and unsanitary bar practices. We also noticed all guests of color were seated in the same crowded section, while white guests were seated in more private areas. We were eventually moved to a better table, but only because they needed our original one for a larger group. The whole night felt like we were treated differently because we are a young, mixed-race couple. I left feeling frustrated and upset that my girlfriend’s birthday was ruined. I would not recommend Cucci and will not be returning.

   This restaurant is consistently great. Why we return and return. Like other people, obviously, as it is always busy on a Saturday night! Great service. Food delicious. Appreciate that the menu changes frequently and there are specials. So you never get bored with the same menu time after time like many other fine restaurants.

   Our first time visiting but will definitely return. Quality of food and level of service was outstanding. The scallops were done to perfection and the crème brûlée was better than more than one Michelin Star restaurants in Paris.

   A wonderful evening as always. Prompt but not hovering service, excellent food , both choices and quality. A perfect restaurant for a special occasion.
