We only ordered main courses. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food. When it arrived it was at best fair. The waiter was very pleasant and apologized but we spent between 2 and 2 1/2 hours in their restaurant and had 3 children, ages 7, 13 and 16. It was not pleasant and we will not be back!

My husband and I eat here often and really like the food. However, on Valentine's Day and other times when I have made a reservation at least a week in advanced I have asked to be seated in a booth. I was really disappointed that we didn't get a booth. This has happened to us 3 times. If this could be fixed my experience as your customer would be totally satisfied.

Came here on Valentine's day and it was packed. Our reservation was pushed but only by about 10-15 minutes, so no biggie. Food was nothing extraordinary, but the portion sizes are hefty. Overall, a good place for a weeknight dinner, would not come here to impress a date.

Our second time here, and it was even more delicious than the first time. We ordered two specials -- pork ribs and steak -- and they were both exceptional. The rum cake is also fantastic. We will absolutely be back!

I've been going to Cuba de Ayer for years, prior to their expansion, and they continue to surpass my expectations! The ambiance of the restaurant is great, from the decor to the music and just the buzz surrounding the restaurant! The wait staff were polite and attentive. I've been working my way through the menu over the years and would recommend the Lechon Asado (Cuban roasted Pork Marinated in “mojo criollo” (citrus marinade) dressed with onions) is excellent! Since this was Valentine's Day, we couldn't have spent it at a better restaurant!

Always a joy and culinary treat to dine at Cuba de Ayer!! The food, ambiance and service are always top notch. We brought two friends for their first time and they loved it. Both said they would bring other back.
For a pleasant and tasteful evening this is a wonderful place.

Loved the food -- but our table was adjacent to an unused door to the outside (so there was a cold draft coming in) and directly under a speaker (so the music was loud, making conversation difficult).

Had a wonderful experience at Cuba de Ayer restaurant in Burtonsville, MD. We were seated in a very good and relatively quite location of the dining area. Our waitress Elsie was very nice and answered all of our questions regarding the menu, and explained the various entrees and preparation of certain dishes. She was very friendly and helpful, plus she made our first visit a truly nice experience.
Elsie did not rush us to order our food. She perfectly understood that we were two friends that had not seen each other in a long timr, just trying to catch up.
We started off with a variety of empanadas for the appetizer, followed by a side salad for the first course. We both ordered steak dishes for our entrees. I had the Bistec Palomilla, and my friend had the Ropa Vieja. Both dishes were very flavorful and delicious.
If you are looking for a friendly, laid back atmosphere with hearty delicious food, that is a true gem. Then this restaurant is a great find. We really enjoyed ourselves and plan to return soon.

Cuba de Ayers never disappoints. My friend and I enjoyed a great dinner complete with Cuban coffee and tres leche. Our server was a very nice girl. (I wish I could remember her name!) We both decided to try something new and ordered bistec palomilla, which was recommended by our server. It was DELICIOUS!! The meat was tender and flavorful. It went well with the sweet plantains. Our sever was very attentive and checked on us pretty regularly. She was very sweet and pleasant. We’ve been there other times and the service wasn’t as good. But it’s hard to stay away from great food. It will be very difficult for me to pick a dish to enjoy the next time I go back!!
