Located within the clubhouse at Grand Cascades Lodge, The Crystal Tavern showcases the best of local New Jersey farmers and purveyors. Executive Chef Aishling Stevens crafts a menu that evolves with the seasons and pairs well with artisanal cocktails, microbrews and wines from Crystal Springs Resort award-winning wine cellar.
My daughter and I came here for breakfast and lunch. Lunch was great! The service was good and the food came out and delicious. Then we came for breakfast. There was only one waitress so the service was not good at all. She apologized at the end, but it was a long wait for not great food. I had an English muffin that I asked for well toasted and it was barely toasted at all. It was completely white with a slight brown on one of the edges, but she never came back for me to tell her and to get it fixed. My daughter had the açaí bowl which was smaller portion then expected, but it was fine. I would recommend because it is a very nice restaurant in general and if there was more then one waitress, maybe the experience would have been better.
Our server was very friendly, everything came out quickly and the food was good!
Food was terrible.. ordered 1/2 dozen oysters that were CUT in 1/2- I have never seen this before. My wife ordered buttermilk fried chicken sandwich for $17 which overlooked to the point it had no taste and hard as a rock ... I ordered buttermilk fried chicken platter for $32 and the chicken again was murdered/burned/over cooked. I have no problem with paying top dollar for food at resorts like this however when the food is absolutely terrible it unacceptable.. The kitchen staff is careless when they serve food that is obviously not prepared correctly.
Beautiful views and nice place for a drink, but the food, at best, is medicorce and the Chef has absolutely no flexibility. Requested that the wild salmon be blackened (which is no problem at any other good restaurant), but was advised could not deviate from the menu.
This is not the first time this has been experienced by myself and many others. While the resort brings in many conferences, and thus guests that frequent their only tavern (bar), its priority is serving alcohol, surely, not the quality of its food. Many regulars opt for the local restaurants which have excellent food, prices, and service. BTW - it's rarely I give a negative review.
Food was amazing. Service was great. Kid friendly. Ate here most of the nights we stayed at the lodge. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Food was amazing. Service was excellent and the view is beautiful!!!!
Great food, beautiful views!!
The Crystal Tavern is in a beautiful location and setting of the restaurant is lovely but the bar area located right next to the restaurant was very loud. The noise was made worse by a wedding the spilled out of the reception area and into the tavern. The service was prompt and the waiter was professional. I ordered a sidecar, which was excellent. We ordered several appetizers the Lamb Carpaccio was excellent. The other items were problematic. The Poutine consisted of under cooked soggy french fries topped with way, way over cooked, likely leftover lamb. The charcuterie contained really fatty ham of some sort and some very dried out blood sausage and only two pieces of cheese and a half a slice of toast. The Rhubarb Crumble had very little rhubarb and the oat topping was hard and dry. They were out of the unsweetened cocoa.
Everything was delicious!
Average food with great service and a great view. I would consider it romantic.
Review sent with my verification of attendance
Unfortunately no matter how many attempts I made, this restaurant was unwilling to accommodate my family of 15 people. I spoke to managers, left messages etc and still they had us sitting in 3 separate tables across the restaurant. Young kids sitting by themselves made for a stressful dinner. The food was inconsistent and many of our meals were sent back. This place has the potential to be a good time with its location and ambiance but they just couldn’t get their act together.
Large party and we had Great food and wonderful service. The French onion soup was fantastic!
The food was delicious, the view was amazing and our server was great!
They ran out of Glassware. We had to wait 25 minutes for our cocktails. They ran out of plates. There was a table of 12 ladies who were extremely loud making our conversation almost impossible
All the kids meals were terrible. Overpriced frozen chicken, I wouldn’t even feed my kids in a hurry at home. Nonetheless have to pay for at a restaurant. No substitutions allowed on any meal. Supposed to take meal off of bill because food was undercooked, didn’t. Then had to wait for that to happen. Overall...terrible experience.
This Is consistently the most inconsistent place I’ve ever gone. One meal will be great the other not very good. This is mostly about their service who seem to deliver the wrong foods all of the time. The value is not very good. I was surprised they had no specials this past week. They couldn’t deliver a plain cheeseburger correctly this weekend and then we had a great meal later that night
Very impressed with quality and preparation of the food.
Food is fantastic, even for healthy eaters. The service is terrible...tables were not filled yet the servers at every meal were extremely slow. Visited Crystal Tavern for 5 meals within 3 days and the service was consistently bad. Servers were friendly but just too slow.
Very nice restaurant and my family had a very nice experience, our server was very friendly
Service was very slow. No bread on the table. When appetizers came out the server did not bring any plates. After we asked for some took over 5 minutes to bring them out.
The food was fine. The service tried hard but was not very attentive. However I know on New Year's Day I know you can not always get your top-of-the-line people or enough people to work. But there was no one at the hostess desk for over 10 minutes. I asked a bartender to get someone and five minutes later still no one showed up. Another family simply left. I had made a reservation and wanted to eat. I finally went into the kitchen and found the hostess. She then sat someone else and took another five minutes to get back to us. Then she wanted to seat us right near the kitchen. Yeah OK honey thanks. But nope, and I was already annoyed so not a smart move. I insisted we sit closer to the windows.
Also used to make great bloody Mary with all kinds of garnishes. Mine just came with celery and the waitress said the bartender no longer makes the elaborate ones. Really?
🙄Get your act together, people.
Sara was great
Im a loyal Crystal springs , Grand cascade visitor since 1999 , this place really needs to work on treating there customers like they are customers and guests not like we are bothering the staff and management .. Used to have a good bar menu not really sure if mgmt. realizes that they are a golf course and are in Hamburg NJ??? Great idea , really need to listen to reviews …
This restaurant is part of the Crystal Springs resort. The landscaping and views are stunning. The menu is eclectic and changes regularly. The meals are excellent. The bar area can be quite noisy, otherwise the atmosphere is lovely.
Food was great loved the new crispy chicken sandwich
I ordered the dish with pork belly and scallops and was very disappointed that there was sand in the scallops. For the price of an entree there, I would expect the food to be cleaned properly. We sat in the dining area but it was pretty close to the bar which was extremely loud and hard to hear your own conversation. Also our waitress was no where to be found and the restaurant wasn't even busy. We constantly had to keep looking and waving down someone to come over. I would not recommend this restaurant.
This place has severely gone down hill. I've been going to the Crystal tavern on and off since 2007 - we live in Crystal Springs. The menu has become extremely limited and just - not good. Took 30 minutes to see a waiter and the food was bleh. We have to spend $1000 a year on food for our country club membership and I'd honestly just pay the fee than eat here again.
The dining room was very cold. Otherwise it was a good experience.
Good food terrible service limited menu
The view from our table was spectacular and the food was good. The wine list was fabulous.
Food and atmosphere were great. Portions were ample and overlooking mountains. Perfect view of sunset. One negative was bartender when we stopped for a snack prior to our dinner. Gave us the bill before we were done since her shift was ending soon. Did not appreciate being "bullied" by staff so she wouldn't have to share/lose her tip. Based on her actions, her tip was drastically lower than it would have been normally.
The view was amazing and the breakfast food looked and tasted wonderful.
The service was slow and the food was bad. Don't waste your money here.
Such a disappointment. Been coming here for the past few years and it was really bad. Started with a piece of glove in one of our salads. We then waited one hour to have our maim courses which were mediocre at best. Apologies were received for the salad but NO apologies for waiting over an hour. We were 9 people so it was a big bill — very expensive for really unremarkable pub food. Bummer that Grand Cascades Lodge can’t have a decent place for a fairly-prices meal.
Took almost an hour to get food, which was unevenly prepared (eg., 2 orders of the same dish, 1 was overcooked, the other very overcooked). Not worth the price, and definitely not worth the wait.
Wonderful food and drinks. Service was attentive. Don’t skip the French press coffee or desert.
We had a really great experience dining at Crystal Tavern. I'm a picky eater because if my digestive issues and they easily accommodated me. My husband said it was the best chicken he'd ever tasted. Our server was outstanding. The view was breath taking. Highly recommend!
Literally gave me 1/2 of a sandwich. $16 for a BLT and some over cooked and greasy chips. They have really lost there edge.
