I had the Lasagna and my wife had the Pasta Special. Both dishes were very tasty and we enjoyed them with our special cocktail drinks. Because St. Patrick's Day was being celebrated that evening, the entire restaurant was noisy and the Wait Staff was very busy.
Our table was too near the door to the outdoor seating area. We had to tolerate continuous cold blasts of air from the outside, where guests should have been wearing parkas. I'd not allow us to be seated in that area again. The rest of the restaraunt seating is generally very comfortable. Just not this night.
My favorite place to eat in Chico. Food , service and ambiance always stellar.
We love Crush whenever we are in Chico! The staff is friendly, the food is fantastic and it is always a good time.
We had prime rib and swordfish and the food was tasty. However, the place seems to have an identity crisis. On one hand it is an expensive fine dining menu, on the other hand it has couches and a TV playing sports. I would say it's too expensive to be a good sports bar and it's too loud and casual to be a good fine dining establishment.
I was there for an anniversary with my wife and it was far too loud to have a conversation without raising your voice. I wouldn't go back for something like a romantic dinner. It's probably best for appetizers and creative mixed drinks. Or maybe for pizza?
The service was attentive and they gave us a free dessert to celebrate the anniversary, which we appreciated.
Was wonderful start to finish. Had reservation and we were seated right away. Great drinks menu which did not disappoint. Food delicious as was the dessert. Will certainly come back.
Can recommend the apple salad, chicken picatta and the eggplant parmesan. Very noisy is only downside but its a college town and a Friday night.
Some of the best food in Chico! Easy parking! Great staff! One of our favs!
Dinner and service at table was great. Although had reservations for 7:30 didn’t get sat till close to 8:30
Always a good time and great food. Servers are thoughtful, courteous and seem interested in their customers and their work.
This was our first time eating at Crush and it didn't disappoint. The service was great. The servers were very friendly. The food was great and definitely worth the price.
The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff wonderfully fun. We will be back.
The food was very good but it took 45 minutes for it to arrive to our table. When we inquired about when our food might get to our table the waiter replied "your food will get here when it's ready sir". Not very good for someone who works for tips. Going to be awhile before I go to Crush again.
Excellent food and service. Waiter made a special occasion even more special. Good specialty cocktail.
The staff at Crush was very attentive, helpful, ensured GF options, and met our needs and requests! Thanks!
Started out in the bar for happy hour and drinks were good. We had a reservation and moved into the dining room, we had a good sampling of the menu with 4 of us, chicken parm very good, chicken picata very good, ribeye and filet steaks were great! We will be back!
Always love this place. This is my absolute favorite special occasion place. They always treat us like we’re in the fanciest place and have everything perfect.
Just a nice night out with my wife. The chef(s) really kick butt with the quality and presentation of their meals Our selections this evening were the sea bass and chicken picatta. We enjoyed the meals immensley . The house Merlot was on point. My wifes martini was not to her liking, but no fault of the restaraunt. The waiter, Joshua as I recall, was on top of it and after several attempts finally got her a cocktail that she really enjoyed. He went out of his way to make sure she got something that she really liked. I recall it turned out to be a chocolate martini, probably intended as a dessert, but served her well with her meal.
I wish the acoustics could be modified to quiet the place down, but the meals and service favorably blow Crush out of the park. At nearly $85 for two, including a well earned generous tip, it's a bit pricy, but from the size of the crowd, you'd be unlikely to think price to be much of a problem, although it was Saturday night. Strongly recommend.
Excellent service and a very knowledgeable staff. A nice upbeat atmosphere.
Wish they had a smaller Rib Eye steak. Love it but it is enough for 4 people! Should have two sizes available.
Seating wasn't very good sat right in the middle of a walkway which several tables were in the middle of walkways waiters trampling back and forth noise level was high food was really expensive for the amount you get expect to spend $100 plus on a two seating meal maybe saw my waiter twice the whole night
Excellent meal! Had a good porter from Secret Trails Brewery.
Great night out however right before being seated i slipped and fell and hurt my ankle due to the waxing they did on their floors. Found out later another patron slipped and fell too. I did make my complaint and filed an accident report.
Really nice place. Service was adequate and food really good.
Only suggestion would be to put the price on what the shots or pours are on the specialty liquors are.
The food was delicious, the service prompt, and the ambiance conducive to conversation.
My husband had an excellent chicken piccata. I had bucatini a la amatriciana and it was delicious, not particularly authentic, but in some ways I liked it better than what I had recently in Rome - more sauce and a bit spicier. Very good house Zinfandel. This is our third time to this restaurant - we pass through Chico about once a year and it is our go-to place.
Where we were seated it was way too cold. And there were other tables available. tables kept being loudly reorganized close to us even though no one had sat there until we left. Food was very good and our waiter was very nice. We left as soon as we were done eating. But we will be back soon and hope for a better visit
Excellent as usual. Got our favorite server Josh who took good care of us.
It took us over an hour to get our entrees. The waiter was apologetic, but i was ready to go home.
I always enjoy going to crush, food is always fresh and he waitstaff is always friendly. Happy hour is awesome if I can get off work in time to make it
The food and service were fantastic, very noisy. Hard to talk to my wife across the table.
2nd time we've celebrated our anniversary with friends . Waiter was cordial, making us feel comfortable and was more than friendly. Food was excellent. We'll try to celebrate more family occasions at the Crush
Another great dinner
Again we ordered the chicken piccata and it was equally as good as the other times we have come to Crush. We have tried chicken piccata at five other restaurants to be sure we were right that Crush is the best. Nothing came close! You can literally cut it with a fork. Sauce not overly lemony, Yukon potatoes, spinach and salad all great. We were celebrating my granddaughter’s 21st birthday.
Was a special occasion dinner with my girlfriend who after dinner was my fiance. Dinner was phenominal food was great. Taylor the hostess took delivery of flowers for my soon to be bride assured that the flowers as well as a bottle of Vueve was on the table when we arrived. Josh our server was right there when we needed everything and was able to read the mood of the table and the timing if our meal attentive but unintrusive.
Overall Review: Good, but could have been even better. A tad bit expensive.
I took a first date here. She is a Chico native and suggested we go to Crush. I am from out-of-town and had not previously heard of Crush.
I made reservations for two at 5:30 p.m. on a Friday night. The dining room was absolutely packed. I didn't think it would be so busy that early in the evening. The noise level was extremely high, but it didn't interfere too much with our conversation. Truthfully, I didn't even notice the ambiance/decor at all. It seemed like an ordinary "nice" restaurant in that respect. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation, which I appreciated.
Both my date and I ordered the Gorgonzola salad along with a bowl of Lentil soup. The Lentil soup was excellent, with tiny bits of ham and carrots in it. However, my bowl of soup was not even lukewarm and that really detracted from my enjoyment. It would have tasted much better if it had simply been warmed up to "regular" soup temperature. I ate my soup and didn't complain. The Gorgonzola salad was also good.
My date ordered two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc wine. The wine came in huge glasses (?), but the wine barely made it 1/3 full in the glass. I thought it looked silly to put such little wine in such a large glass. Soup was $8.00 each; Salad was $9.00 each and the wine was $12.00 each. Along with my Iced Tea, the check came to $65.00. I realize that the wine really inflated the check, but I still think that $65.00 for "soup and salad" with two glasses of wine was pretty steep.
Service was excellent; attentive, but not intrusive. I left a nice tip.
Would I go back? Well, I'm not in a hurry to return to Crush. I would rather try another "nice" restaurant in Chico. That said, I would also return to Crush without a problem.
Using Open Table the day before paid off. When we arrived there was a 2 hour wait. Servers were great. The pizza with fig was awesome. We started with the kale salad and Caesar salad. Both were excellent.
Friends and I agree that the food was better than average to very good, and that Crush is a good choice in other respects. One problem, however, was that, it being a weekend evening, the noise was a negative. A second was that, for an older customer with some health problems, using the men's room required a considerable effort, going downstairs two flights or taking an elevator which was very busy.
On the positive side, the serving staff were attentive and among the most professional in Chico.
this was for my wife's 65th birthday...it did not disappoint
would recommend for special occasions...but is a bit pricey
My boyfriend and I came her for our first "fancy" date. We dressed up and almost felt over dressed. My boyfriend was super excited about it and we were enjoying our date, but I noticed our server looming in the back, watching us like a hawk. It made me feel a little on edge, but I couldn't tell why I was. I brought it to my boyfriend's attention but his back was to our server, so he didn't notice. We continued our normal conversation, but I could still see our server out of the corner of my eye just watching us. When we finished our food, another server boxed my food and brought it back. My boyfriend and I waited for quite some time for our check. We just assumed we paid up front after such a long wait, so we got up and as we made it the the front, the server that was watching us like a hawk came up behind us and, in a slightly annoyed and almost angry tone, he asked with an almost forced smile, "Can I help you?" I then explained to him we were coming up to pay because we were waiting for our check and no one came so we assumed we paid up front. "No, we bring the check to you," he replied with an annoyed tone. I then proceeded to apologize countless times, thanks to my anxiety. We paid and rushed out, since I was overwhelmed with anxiety.
Other than feeling like being accused as a Dine and Dasher, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food!
Crush never disappoints. This was our 24th Anniversary. We live in Carson City, Nevada and have enjoyed Birthdays, Mothers Day and now our 24th Wedding Anniversary at Crush. The service is always fabulous. The food is out of this world. If I had to pick a negative, I would say that It is loud inside. It may be ok for most other people, and it may just be me.
