Cru-Fort Myers Ratings and Reviews
Lovely dinner for 4. I love that Cru is usually quiet, but this time there was a rowdy bunch at the bar having fun. Our server was helpful without being intrusive. The salads were crispy. From seafood to steaks, everything was perfectly prepared. We’ll be back.
We find Cru to be one of the gems of Fort Myers! The food is unique among local offerings and delicious. We went before the Tree Lighting with an 8 month old baby. I had asked for a high chair in the comments section of Open Table and it was all set up when we arrived! That was impressive, usually you have to stand there and wait for someone to bring it over. Cru has delivered over the years and continues to do so.
Truly, there aren’t a lot of finer dining options in the Ft Myers area. My husband and I chose Cru to try something new. Travis, our server, was the highlight of the experience. He was professional, not overly involved and knowledgable. All that being said, the decor is reminiscent of something Disney’s would have done at the opening of Future World. Very dated, black/white/silver, some water (?) damage visible in the main dining room. Food was underwhelming. My husband started with a chicken liver pate, “Meh...” was his comment. His entree was a duck breast, about which he again was not enthused. I ordered the cauliflower Mac-n-cheese and brussel sprouts. The former was good; the latter lacked discernible flavor. As an aside, the bar scene was beyond vibrant. Might be worth considering if that’s your gig.
This restaurant was recommended to us by my niece who lives in Fort Myers. It was my husband's birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect. Our waiter was very attentive but not bothersome. The wine list was very appealing and the food was delicious. Highly recommend for just about any occasion.
Disappointing. Very echo-ey. Condensation from AC vent was dripping on me. Had to move entire table over. Finished entire glass of wine before cheese tray appetizer was served. FOOD VERY DISAPPOINTING.. How could this restaurant be ranked Top 10 best. Waiter vas very polite, had that going but really nothing else. Will not Be back.
I had seen the tapas menu on line so I was surprised to get the menu and there were no tapas or reference to them. We had a wonderful waiter who explained the tapas were served in the bar area but we could get the tapas in the dining room. He gladly brought us the menu so I'm still not clear why the tapas menu wasn't served with the regular menu. Many people who come to the restaurant for the first time might not have any idea about the tapas menu and they would be missing a great experience. There were two of us and we each made two choices and enjoyed everything we ordered.
We were greeted promptly but when seated? No one came to our table until I asked for a server. Once our server came? He was friendly and professional and knew the wine and menu well. The food? Was by far the best part of the experience. It was wonderful. Portions were a bit small but I expected that based on tapas concept. The atmosphere? Needs to be tidied up a bit. Sloppy service areas, and it didn't seem that clean. Almost like eating in a night club. Also the layout of the restaurant is too closed off. Everywhere you look? There is the back of something: the bar, a wall, a service area. Could use a refresh on the decor to lighten and open it up. But the food will have me coming back....it saved it. Bravo to the chefs!
We heard this had a great tapas bar and decided to try that before going to the main restaurant. We never made it into the main restaurant. The offerings were great. The Tuna Tartare with Szechuan Slaw & Wasabi Aioli was very tasty. (They are not stingy on the tuna tartare.) We then tried Baked Brie w/ Braised Brussel Sprouts which was well prepared. A big surprise was the Dynamite Scallops. We finished up with a Pork and Tomato ‘Slaw Taco.
I had a nice cabernet and my wife enjoyed her pinot grigio.
Our server, Ariel, was attentive and helpful with making choices.
My husband and I came here for the first time on a date. The restaurant is decorated nicely and the waiter was very polite and attentive. It seems out of place in Belltower though. I am pregnant so I didn't browse the drinks list but it seemed very extensive. The food menu was not very large, but that makes decisions easier. There was no bread or anything to snack on while we waited for our food. We ordered the Cru Steak and the Duck Breast along with a shared side of Cauliflower Mac n Cheese. Our main meals were good although nothing special. The best thing was the Cauliflower in a cheese sauce. That was very tasty. We enjoyed our time but won't be going back anytime soon.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. From fine seafood to top quality beef/steak and everything in between Cru is and outstanding place. They have some of the most knowledgeable, friendly, attentive staff you will ever find. The quality of the food is second to none, with unique twists on many different dishes. The wine list has a wide selection of great choices. Overall, one of the best places to dine and drink in SWFL!
Cru consists of a fine dining room, an outdoor patio area and a bar. There is also seating at the open kitchen, so everyone can choose their own favorite environs! The food at Cru is imaginative, fresh, delicious and memorable. Whether seafood or meat, everything is excellent. The service is perfect, the pace relaxing, and pricing fair. Overall, terrific!
We decided on Cru at last moment and glad we did.
Originally, we had reservations for a family dinner on New Year's Eve at another restaurant but decided to change plans due to that restaurant's distance from where we were staying (and weren't really impressed with a lunch there).
Not usually impressed by restaurants in shopping malls but must admit Cru lived up to the good reviews and exceeded expectations and was close by.
Menu was eclectic and had something for everyone including our boys (12 and 17) and my wife (leans towards vegetarian/pescatarian).
Was slightly high priced but provided availability of full menu for New Years. Only real gripe was portion size of a grilled octopus appetizer, which looked like they left off half of it.
