Always a pleasure dining here. Food is always good. Staff is welcoming, the chef divine.
Perfection- not really pricey but not cheap- cheddar grits to die for best I had and I had a lot in Charleston.
Amazing like always!! Highly recommend.
All of the food is amazing and they really care about your experience
Excellent meal and terrific service. This was our "seafood break dinner", but it was a super hit.
Super chic food and a shabby chic Charleston setting
One of my favorite spots in Charleston. Converted home so not many tables, a bit tight, but well worth it. EVERYTHING is amazing. Pasta special is always my go to. Shrimp BLT on sourdough crazy good. Very good general tso delicious.
We 💕 CRU for lunch! Brought out of town guests and sat out on the porch. They loved it!!
Where do I even begin?! Everything here was AMAZING. General Tso’s Brussel Sprouts, fried Brie, basil shrimp pasta, and fried calamari were all DELICIOUS. Definitely recommend securing the chef’s table for the night.
The highlight of our mini vacation meals. Very innovative dishes, with great presentations. I could eat there every day.
Excellent. Great food, love the atmosphere & definitely make reservations.
Just finished our tour at C of C. We were starving so we pulled another app out for nearest restaurant with highest rating and Cru Cafe popped up. Made a reservation via opentable and were seated outside. Service was excellent and attentive. My daughters burger was cooked to her liking and she enjoyed it. I had the fried goat cheese salad with added salmon. Either I misread the menu or it just didn’t come with as much as I thought it did. Two small balls of fried goat cheese and a couple slivers of tomato with two small croutons. The bed of greens didn’t look like an entree portion so I thought I got the app size because I ordered the salmon. I didn’t realize how small 3 ounces is. All in all lunch was nice I just left hungry after paying for a $17 salad. Cute little place I’ll just order something more substantial next time.
Went there for dinner with my wife after reading some good reviews and we were not disappointed. Really friendly staff went out of their way to make us welcome. We sat in front of the kitchen area and were thrown a few 'samples' which were delicious! Food was fantastic and really tasty flavors. Overall a great evening.
Great place for lunch with excellent service. The Shrimp sandwich and General Tzo chicken were delicious
The food was so delicious and the staff was super friendly and accommodating ! We got to sit out on the porch which truly had a southern feel!
We found Cru Cafe to be unimpressive, menu was limited, crowded, with a high level of noise. Every other restaurant we visited on our trip to Charleston was wonderful.
Just wonderful! Had lunch! Soft shell crab BLT was great as well as the green tomato appetizer! small place! Make a reservation!
The food is always spot on when we go and we had the pleasure of sitting at the chefs table which was an experience in itself. The staff was super friendly and fun, making our anniversary dinner a night to remember!
Cru is my favorite restaurant in Charleston. Never disappoints!
Nice historic space. Good food.
Cru Cafe did not disappoint. It’s a small restaurant and the noise level is high. The food is outstanding and the service excellent. If you are looking for a quiet spot this is not it. Otherwise it’s everything you want in a great eaterie.
Soft shell crabs are in! Cru Cafe always does them deliciously. This time they were fried on top of rice with corn, tomatoes, broccoli, etc. A marvelous presentation. The remainder of the menu is always tempting but the soft shells win out this time of year.
Great fresh food and great service. Repeat customer here and will be back !
Got there a little early and were still seated promptly. My wife had the shrimp pasta and enjoyed it very much. I had the poblano and mozzarella stuffed chicken which was prepared perfectly. The meals had a unique twist without being pretentious. The dream sickle cake for desert is a must have. Service was prompt and friendly.
The food was incredible. The menu had a nice variety but the taste was truly exquisite! The service was pretty abysmal- our server told us how busy the restraunt had been and what a challenge it was. She seemed annoyed by our presence and was quite unfriendly when we were seated, despite our having to wait for 15 minutes past our reservation for a table.
The food is always amazing. I highly recommend sitting at the kitchen view bar table. The service is amazing. Hell, everything is just AMAZING! Not sure why I am doing this though. The place is already hard enough to get a reservation as it is:) #ILOVECRU
The setting is beautiful! So quaint! The food was superb! Service was excellent! I will return!!!!
They had our table ready a little early which was nice. The food was delicious as always. I had the Mac & Cheese side, which was gigantic. This would be a side dish suitable for two people, or a small entree for one person.
The softshell crab sandwich was amazing! As expected, Cru Cafe's service and food were the best. We will be back next year!
Best restaurant in Charleston. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great food.
Nice wait staff. Tight dining space but some would describe as “cozy.” Food was good. The peach and raspberry bread pudding was the best.
My husband and I visited this awesome restaurant during our stay in Charleston. We our foodies and I must say this was one of the most fantastic meals we have ever had! Our waitress Katie made it a memorable evening. I also have a food allergy and they really worked with me.
The food and service is spectacular! Location very near the market and across from the carriage stables. Very convenient!! Be sure to get a reservation. Fills up fast and stays busy. Most enjoyable lunch we have so far with all being very good
Food was excellent as always service excellent as always and menu was a gastronomic treat as always. One of my favorite places in Charleston. I hope it stays as authentic and as quaint as it was when it first opened. Unlike some of the other flavors of Charleston that let their notoriety go to their heads
We always return to Cru Cafe on our visits to Charleston because we have never been disappointed. The salmon with lemon risotto was perfectly delicious! Our friends had the red snapper and the soft shelled crab, and were equally delighted. Katie, our excellent waitress was friendly and attentive! Thank you Cru Cafe for another yummy dinner!
We had a warm welcome at this lively American Bistro. Service was superb. Wine by glass a bit limited and average. Salad nicely prepared and presented as were entrees. Menu changes so will go back.
Awesome lunch! We shared the shrimp BLT which was awesome! Great service. We will be back again soon!
I’ve been here for lunch 3 times now and I just love this place. Great food and great service.
Great atmosphere and food in this laidback, but bustling house on a side street in downtown Charleston. Delicious low country fare, soft shell crab, shrimp pasta prepared to a high level by chefs in an open kitchen.
Nice quiet cafe, food was creative and awesome. Staff very friendly and attentive. Very much recommend going. Make a reservation only seat a little over 30 people.
