Loved the Thai seafood risotto
Went for a birthday dinner celebration. Everything was so great! The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all outstanding! Cru holds its own as a fabulous place to eat in the daunting restaurant scene of Charleston.
Great food and service at reasonable prices. I would recommend.
Wonderful food and service. The salmon was delicious! Will definitely come back on our next visit.
We found this restaurant to be the perfect culinary experience! Fabulous food!
My team and I had a great dinner at Cru Cafe! Loved the steak as well as the fish of the day - Snapper the day we were there. Mussels were a hit as well. Thanks!
Love love love this place!! If avail set at the seats overlooking the kitchen!
Great food, restaurant, and service, as always. Highly recommended
Great little restaurant with wonderful service very close to our other activities for the day. Service, food and wine selection great. My third or fourth time here.
The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend getting the Mac and cheese! And my turkey and avocado sandwich was the perfect light yet flavorful lunch option!
Best dining experience in Charleston in the last year
A surprise find in an old converted house. The fried oyster salad is not to be missed and the farro risotto with scallops was perfection. We didn’t have dessert to our regret but we’ll be back when we revisit Charleston. Charming ambiance as well with outside porch seating for languid early dinners.
We were disappointed. It's a nice venue; the old house is visually appealing, but it's crowded, noisy, and the food is not that good for the price. Sorry to sound so negative, but there are better options in downtown Charleston. Maybe the appeal is to the tourist crowd, but permanent residents could do better with other places nearby.
This is a very special, comfortable place with amazing food. The wait staff is extremely friendly and attentive.
First place we make a reservation every time we come in town
Good, as aways. A must stop for lunch whenever I am in Charleston.
We started with the Fries Green Tomatoes, and as most everyone says, we think they are the best in Charleston. We had the Scottish Salmon, which matches to a tee our best meals in Scotland earlier this year - and Scotland has definitely become a gourmet foodie destination too. We also enjoyed the Basil Shrimp entree - well seasoned and a rich, creamy sauce that will fill the hungry stomach but not overly too much. Highly recommend.
We always enjoy dining at Cru. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The was delicious and prepared properly. We’ll be back.
Fantastic meal. Best Mac and cheese we have ever had.
Fried Green Tomatoes were innovative and so delicious! Surprising for locals used to the same thing most places.
My steak was dry and precooked. I expect a steak to be juicy and right off the grill. My guest got a recommenced seafood dish that was excellent however
Dated and not seasonal menu. Ambience is good and staff is nice.
This has been our lunch spot for years! Every time we come to Charleston, we make reservations and do lunch. The food is great and the host are very polite. Small place so make sure to get a reservation!
Delicious as always. A favorite for years!!
Everything we ordered was delicious. Best fried oysters I’ve ever eaten!
Cru never disappoints! Always great food and service. We love having dinner here and visiting with some of the staff we have known for years. Our meals were excellent!
We reserved pre- theater seats at Cru Cafe, which served us well for a 7:00 performance at the Gaillard. The staff was excellent, the food was fine, just not exactly to our taste. The unfortunate thing was that, due to the small size of the main dining room, a very “exuberant” party nearby made it nearly impossible for conversation. Our good friends highly recommend this restaurant for lunch. Maybe we’l try It again.
Excellent food. Great service. Server was very knowledgeable on food prep and based on our likes/dislikes made excellent recommendations. We will make this a stop in every future visit.
Delicious as always. Some of the best food in Charleston
Our lunch was delicious! Great menu with creative salads, soups, sandwiches and main courses to choose from. Restaurant had good energy. Very charming setting too. Will definitely go back.
Delicious! Always good food and good service. Never a bad meal when you dine here. Hubby got the sirloin steak special, yummy, I got the snapper with the crispy peas, yummy!
Enoyed dinner there sharing various appetizers and entrees-good service, good food, good atmosphere- upper casual
We live 3+ hours north of Charleston yet every time we drive down to visit we always eat lunch at Cru. That says a lot because there are so many fine restaurants in the city! Cru is located in a charming, old, small cottage. We try to snag a spot at the small bar so we can watch the kitchen action. This last visit, which was on 12/19, we had the following yummy items: small Asian chicken salad, tomato soup with goat cheese and basil oil drizzle, General Tsao's chicken wrap and truffle fries. This was the first time we have had truffle fries and they were so delicious we will get them every time. We even bought some truffle oil at a shop in Charleston so we can try to make them at home. We always feel welcome when we walk in the door and the servers are pleasant and efficient. The chefs work hard, and it's fun to watch them prepare our meal and others. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and the cottage ambiance.
Space casual and comfortable, although noise level a bit disturbing. Waitress was excellent and helpful without too much hovering. Food was nicely prepared and presented but could have used a bit more salt and pepper. We will return and try more things on the menu.
Crowded and lively place. The service is efficient and friendly. The food was outstanding. Wine by the glass affordable. Will go back when in town again.
One of my favorites. Toward the end of lunch we felt a tiny bit rushed by server. Overall excellent food atmosphere and service. Host was very friendly
Great food. Perfect service. Nice low key atmosphere.
We always enjoy Cru. We have been going there for the last eight years to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. We love Chef Ray, and enjoy setting at the Chef’s table, to watch the kitchen. Incredible food , presented beautifully on the plate. A five star restaurant, indeed !
Great service and meal.
Cru Cafe is always wonderful! Reservations are a must because this jewel is in great demand. A small, outstanding menu which is always excellent. Love the butter lettuce salad and, if you need comfort food, the mac & cheese is amazing.
