Fabulous food, amazing service and the servers know their menu and wines!
Our dinner at the Cru Cafe was a highlight of our visit to Charleston. The food and the service were outstanding. We have traveled all over the world and eaten in many nice restaurants but could not remember a better meal than the one we had at the Cru Cafe. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful fall evening and were very comfortable.
Our favorite lunch spot in Charleston - we come back every year, and our guests loved it as well!
Great meals all around! The butter lettuce salad was the perfect starter for the pork chop on Carolina Gold rice with kale and sausage. Our pescatarian friends loved their soup and fish of the day. And the mussels were delicious! For dessert we shared the chocolate torte. Always amazing!
Food and service were excellent, but it is a very small restaurant and you feel like you are dining with the tables on either side of yours. Nothing fancy about the atmosphere but the food, which is what you go for, was excellent!
Food was great, server, Katie, was great, love Cru
Make a reservation because this cafe is small but a MUST when you’re in Charleston! The portions are generous, the food is exquisite and the service was outstanding.
Maybe the best Mussels I have ever had! Service was great. My wife had the seafood risotto and I had the scallops. Excellent all around. Highly recommend!
We could not have chosen a more perfect place to dine! The food is delicious and the the service was great. We sat outside on the veranda and enjoyed a perfect meal.
Excellent Service supported by great food with unique flavors. A wonderful experience.
Being local to Charleston, I've been to Cru Cafe several times with friends. This time, however, I went on OpenTable to make a reservation for 3 people at 1:15. Because the ladies sitting at what was to be our table decided to stay an extra 30 minutes to chat and catch-up, we ended up standing around waiting for them to leave.
Ultimately, the greeter and seater was able to seat us at another table.
I know this problem was not because of the lingering diners; but because we used OpenTable instead of just going on our own, and taking a chance of being seated sooner.
Perfect! Special sandwich was delicious!
Very good restaurant we sat outside on the porch and really enjoy the atmosphere. Our server was very good and made sure we had everything we needed.
Building and landscape needs some maintenance
Food was amazing.
This was our second trip to Cru. It is always a wonderful experience. My wife and I will be back. Every dish is delicious.
We try to eat at the Cru Café each time we visit Charleston. We prefer dining outside on the porch (weather dependent) as the dinning area inside is a bit tight. Service was friendly, helpful, but not overbearing. Wife's sea scallops and my wreck fish special were outstanding. Wine list & pricing was moderate and affordable, but a little limited. Reservations are recommended.
Best lunch we have ever had. Both sandwiches that we tried were amazing as was it goat cheese salad - it was so cute and worth the wait.
We had a lovely lunch. My sister really enjoyed the ginger glazed salmon with a sizable salad. I had the garlic chicken club with truffle fries, my favorite. We shared a decadent flourless chocolate torte for dessert. Katie, our server, was attentive and friendly. Great service and excellent food. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston. Highly recommend it.
Waited twenty minutes beyond our reservation time in the heat outdoors, too long. Food was very good.
Good food, great service, lovely room. We enjoyed what we ordered but wished we had ordered something else.
Macaronie and cheese is worth the extra money, the mozzarella poblano chicken was wonderful. Service was great. I loved the quaint small charm and ambiance, some will not. Very limited seating, make a reservation.
The food and service were fantastic. The setting is great as well
Absolutely fantastic experience, food was phenomenal!!
Wow, this was one of the best lunches ever! I do not like fried green tomatoes but after eating the specially prepared ones at Cru Cafe our table did a second order. And the truffle fries are out of this world. The main dishes were all very special.
I would recommend this restaurant to everybody who travels to Charleston. The staff is very friendly and the food is to die for.
Amazing food, loved everything we had. Tried 9 different things with a table of 5 people and each appetizer, salad or entree was outstanding!
My husband and I have eaten at Cru Cafe many times and it is always amazing. At our most recent visit I was blown away by the shrimp pasta (lunch portion could easily serve 2). My husband always has shrimp BLT. Fried green tomatoes are a must! Service was outstanding, evidenced by the strong team approach. We were never without water (without asking) and plates were cleared within minutes. Only negative...we were too full to have dessert!
Best food on our trip to Charleston. This is our second time eating there and we love it. The vibe is wonderful too!
The whole experience was a delight as usual!
First day of our vacation in Charleston. Our server was great as was the rest of the crew! The fried chicken was very creative but a bit dry. However my friend absolutely loved her bread pudding! The atmosphere was very nice and welcoming.
Fantastic food! Our server was Katie and she was so precious and so helpful! Fried green tomatoes were amazing!
Outstanding food. Service fine bit not spectacular.
We love Cru Cafe. The only recommendation we have is that they should expand and improve their wine selection some ... We've been going for the past 5-7 years and I think it's still the same wines.
Superb meal. Katie, our server was delightful. It's small, so you're sitting in close quarters with others, but that's ok. Cru is one of those places that just leaves you feeling appreciated as a customer. My husband and I both had fish dishes which were perfectly prepared. What a great way to start our first visit to Charlrston.
Had to wait for nearly a half hour past our reservation time. Food was excellent as always. Manager acknowledged the wait with some complimentary starters.
Regular lunch stop when we visit Charleston. Excellent food and service, they never disappoint
Delicious! A meal that you remember as superb years later.
Had a wonderful dinner at Cru. A definite place to go.
This place will knock your socks off. They do things that you know, but they do them better and a tad bit different. The French dip, the orange creamsicle cake, etc. I could go on, but suffice to say, they just do everything exceptionally well. I don’t often write reviews and even less about places I’ve had lunch, but this is better than anywhere you were thinking of eating.
Cru Café is always a pleasant experience. We have been there many times and eat there every time we go to Charleston, because their food is exceptional!
