Truffle Parmesan fries, turkey/avocado sandwich are a staple for me. The calamari with Asian slaw will be a new staple! Love this place!
Every visit to Charleston Cru Cafe is a must!!!!
Friendly and gracious staff; made a special exception for lunch menu at our request. Bright and warm eating area. Special experience-would highly recommend and planning to return!
We love to have lunch at Cru Cafe whenever we visit Charleston. It's always been great. This was the first time we had dinner there. Experience was unpleasant due a large group of ladies at one of the bigger corner tables who were in Charleston for a celebration. Doubt if we'll do dinner here again. Our server was excellent.
The service was great. The Asian chicken salad was delicious. The portobello sandwich was ok. The bread was soggy and not as flavorful as others I have had.
Had lunch. Amazing combinations and great tastes in all dishes: fried green tomatoes, Asian and duck confit salads. We have gone several years between visits to Charleston, but the Cru Cafe is what we anticipate most between visits. Terrific!
Outstanding dining experience as always! One of our fave restaurants for all occasions!
Best lunch in Charleston.
Loved it! In town from Atlanta for a girls’ weekend and remembered it was so great the last time I was in Charleston that we went again! It was my favorite meal on this trip. I had the shrimp BLT and it was AMAZING! It was a simple sandwich but so delicious! The fries were good too. And their daily special salad - a wedge salad - was great. Two of the people in my party had the kung pao chicken and they both enjoyed it. The fourth person had a burger and it was pretty basic. Service was great, cute place. I’ll be back!
Must have the Fried Green Tomatoes! Scallops were amazing. Enjoyed the Beef Stroganoff and Spring Rolls. Parking is a challenge.
We had a great lunch at CRU...BLT with shrimp was delicious as was the 4 cheese Mac and cheese. We had a seat on the porch which was lovely. Our server was very attentive. All around a great experience.
It was a return trip for us. Just as good as we remembered. We had the shrimp BLT and the French dip. Both had salads with them. They were very good. The place is small so highly recommend reservations. We will be customers on our next trip to the Holy City
This is our 2nd visit to Charleston in 2 years and our 3rd visit to Cru. It’s a must. Warm & Friendly, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy friends and incredibly delicious food. Everything is special and memorable. Order everything and share!
Visited Cru for a late lunch while on vacation in Charleston. Cry is very casual with an open kitchen setup in a small house. Tables are very close together so I would recommend requesting porch seating if the weather is mild. We were seated a table for two which was more private but unfortunately right next to the waiting line for the one restroom. The staff was very welcoming and efficient. My husband had the tomato and pepper soup, which was delicious but quite spicy. A piece of baguette served with it would be great, but he was provided with some delicious homemade bread when he asked for it. He also had the chicken club sandwich, which was also good. I had their CAB burger. Delicious on a brioche bun and cooked perfectly to med rare. Bellini and a beer for beverages.
A nice stop for lunch or a casual dinner with friends. Wouldn’t suggest Cru as a date night dinner choice.
Went here for lunch and the food was wonderful as was the service. Hamburger was tasty, juicy, and came with toppings and add ons. My wife had the French dip sandwich which was also incredible!
Loved it but the risotto needed to have more “bite”. A bit too mushy and need some salt.
Our first time and won’t be our last. Everything from the food. To waitstaff the best.
We have been to Cru several times. The menu is good and the service generally OK. The noise level is sometimes unpleasant -- certainly not for romantic dining. Our most recent experiences seem to us anyway that there is a decline in food quality.
We have eaten at Cru Cafe several times and it never disappoints! Food is great and the atmosphere is very friendly and comfortable.
Incredible place, menu is always changing and it has never went in a wrong direction. Great staff and if you get a change get a chef table seat to watch the chaos.
Still great after “all” these years! Always eat there when in Charleston.
The food was amazing, and do believe the hype. I dined for lunch and everything was delicious. The only thing that was upsetting is that I arrived early for a 1pm reservation and I was not seated until 130. Also, I have a sensitive sense of smell, so I could not sit outside as the horse carriage houses are on the next corner, and the smell is off putting, so I sat comfortably inside and enjoyed the meal and the waitress who was very kind!
Best lunch in Charleston, bar none. Only problem is getting in. Duck salad and Chinese Chicken salads are fantastic.
Great service and wonderful food!
Cru has a COOL Vibe and good food. A real find for a nice lunch!
What a sweet surprise - food , service and atmosphere were excellent!
The food was outstanding. The scallops with the pea and farro was special. The thai seafood risotto was also a treat. The service was friendly and informative. This is a gem.
Disappointed that there was not a full liquor license and that it was so loud. It had been suggested to me to go here for lunch, and that probably would have been a better way to experience Cru.
Charming, and low-key "house style " setting restaurant with great local foods. We had the pear/blue cheese butter lettuce salad served with well blended ingredients and sliced into a crown for enjoying every bite. Entrees included the local snapper over a bed of delicious small potatoes and veggies surrounded by Vichyssoise sauce . It was light and tasty. The lamb shank was very flavorful and fork tender and accompanied by local veggies. The wine list was moderately priced so easy to choose 1 or 2 as well as bottles from many regions of the USA.
Love to go back!
Cru Cafe continues to provide such excellent service and delicious meals. We started out with the Mussels that were to die for--cooked to perfection. For an entree, I had the duck with fingerling potatoes that were fantastic. My friend opted for the special which was tagliatelle pasta and lamb! Definitely will be back!
Fawn was AMAZING as always and the food was better than ever!
Asian salad and burger. Both great!
Always a great experience. Food is awesome and so is the atmosphere and service. It get a little loud in a small room, but very enjoyable
We had dinner with friends and all our meals were amazing! My scallops were perfectly cooked and my husbands NY Strip was sooo tasty! we will definitely go back the next time we visit Charleston!
We had an amazing dinner! Every dish was delicious!
Space is tiny so tables close and must have a reservation but truly a jewel - parking tight so walk if can!
Great Mac and cheese!!
We get to Charleston every 4-6 months - we love the area! We first tried Cru Cafe on our first visit and loved it, we haven’t eaten there in a few years and wanted to try it again- it was outstanding - as it has been before!
