CR's The Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The staff was especially warm and attentive. We weren’t ever rushed. Our food was perfectly cooked. We had hangar steak with house made truffled gnocchi and chicken piccata. Appetizer of freshly made lobster Rangoon. All was delicious. The atmosphere was upscale without being pretentious , yet still casual. I haven’t seen this level of service in a very long time. I will definitely be back.
The food was top dollar for a good, not great meal. The cup of clam chowder was mostly potatoes. The second cup that was requested was better and plentiful.
My main disappointing issue was the Kitchen.
The main course arrived warm/cool. When I sent it back it took over 15 minutes to replace. By the time it came back the rest my party had finished their meals. I was so annoyed I ended up taking two bites and took the rest at home.
This was the second time we had dinner at CR's and it was every bit as good as the first time, (which had been in December). The service, dinner specials selections, and meals were outstanding. Our waitress recommended a different wine and we were pleasantly surprised.
The food was fine, but nothing special. I was surprised at the 5 star rating it received. It was very busy and I imagine that the basic menu appeals to a broad number of people. So if you want to get out and try something new it's worth it, but I'm not sure I'd go back with all the other interesting, more creative places in the area.
We were there on a very quiet Sunday with a reservation. We were seated at an odd table for 2 when almost every booth (except one) was unoccupied. Was quite an ordeal when I asked if we could possibly sit in a booth.
Food was good but not great, strangely sweet cauliflower served with the blackened salmon.
This is only the second time I have dined her for dinner and I thought the second time around was as great as my first time. Wanted a place with great atmosphere, food, etc., as my old friends from High school were in town. Our server from the start was very personable, friendly and efficient. We each ordered different martini style drinks and all were delicious. For dinner, each of us ordered something different. I had tried the "chicken under a brick" the last time I was there and it was so good that I recommended it to my friend. I ordered the Scallops served with Gnocchi and my other friend ordered the short ribs as we were told it was a very popular dish. Everything was delicious. We did have one minor snafu with the chicken, but as soon as we brought it to our server's attention she immediately handled it as well as the restaurant manager who promptly stopped by our table to apologize . They took care of the problem so quickly and professionally that I give them 5 stars just for that. Mistakes happen...it is how they handle it that counts. After dinner, we had asked if there was a free table near the bar where the fireplace is and our waitress said yes and even "reserved" the table for us right in front of the fireplace where we enjoyed one last nightcap. Again, overall my friends and I enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service...3 things that I feel are the most important when dining out. Highly recommend CRs!!!
Then menu is quite diverse, however although I am tempted to get many different items on the menu, I have gotten the veal chop both times. It is excellent. Quality is very consistent. Staff is professional while be pleasant and friendly. My wife raves about the chicken piccata as well as the risotto. The fresh made donut wholes are delightful as they appear to vary the filling.
Several weeks ago we took a recommendation from a family friend and wandered the area to locate the restaurant. we were very pleased with the layout of the restaurant and stayed for lunch. the lunch was very good, we both had fish for lunch. at that time, we made plans to take our adult children for a night out. there were six of us on our last visit, which we all enjoyed very much.
Thanksgiving Day 2017. What can I say except FANTASTIC. Our server was so polite and professional, the food was outstanding. I chose the Prime Rib since I am not a fan of Turkey, and it was done perfectly and the taste was to die for. We stayed around 2 hours, and never felt rushed. Everything was delicious, not rushed for a holiday like you would think it would be, and the service was very polished. Ambiance was quiet, adults, and the lighting was perfect. Will definitely go back and recommend to my friends.
CR is one of my go-to places. This occasion was a quiet get-to-know date. Ambiance was the usual CR classy-- BUT the live musicians were TOO LOUD! Live music can be played quietly and in a place like CR its much more consistent with the setting. From now on I will enquire whether there will be live music before I book a table... and I am a musician!
The attentive service was outstanding! We were seated in a booth which was kind of tight and they did not have another table. My friends gave the hostess their coats and then she came back and took mine and made sure it was with my friends' so when we left she brought them all out!We ordered our meals and got our drinks and appetizers and then the people at the table across the way left. Well, the wait staff came right over to clean and set the table up and then the hostess came over and moved us over so we could have more room!!!! It was great! They were so nice! The food was yummy....nothing was out of place. We even ordered dessert and took some home. I have nothing but great things to say about this restaurant. When we were one they gave us chocolate and on the way out the door was a large bowl of Lindt chocolate balls!!! I did notice that everyone who worked at the restaurant that we walked past on the way out wished us a nice night. So friendly and accommodating!
We had the Restaurant Week three course meal, and it was superb! The value was remarkable, and we loved the food. Our server did a great job of checking with the chef to change a vegetable. Everything arrived right when we expected it and perfectly prepared. Great place!
My wife and I enjoy this restaurant so much that we invited friends from Massachusetts to come and experience it. As we predicted, the service and food were exceptional. My veal chop was cooked to perfection. Our server Kim recommended a Cabernet that was outstanding and we ordered a second bottle as well. This is the best restaurant that Hampton has to offer and you should try it for a very nice evening.
