Food is always excellent. Great chef. I noticed they removed my fav dessert creme brûlée which is a huge disappointment. Also noticed the scallop dish is now served with only 3 scallops. Another huge disappointment for the price you pay. Finally they sat us right next to a very loud private party when there were plenty of other seats in the restaurant on a Wednesday night. That is why they got 4 stars instead of 5. Hope they read this and make adjustments.
The menu is diverse, well-prepared items, wine pairings offered for every entree, excellent cocktails. The food combine with the ambiance and stellar service create an overall excellent dining experience.
They ran out of several items on menu which detracted from experience.
Excellent service all around. Love the wine pairing with each dish.
My wife and I both thought our meals were wonderful-from the bread to dessert and coffee, including appetizers and entrees. And it’s a very enjoyable and comfortable place to go to.
Very good service. Food was good and you could tell a lot of care and attention was taken in the kitchen.
Food always excellent. Wait staff very attentive. Just a great place for lunch, dinner or brunch. I loved CRs in Bedford, NH. So ecstatic it’s now in Hampton.
Arrived early for our 6:45 reservation meeting another couple to celebrate our mutual anniversaries. Hostess said table wasn't ready so we went to the bar... no seats. Bartender ignored us for about almost 10 minutes. Got a seat and about 20 minutes later then another hostess asked our name and said our friends had been at the table for 30 minutes.
Dinner was great, waiter was wonderful and we had a wonderful time.
Disappointed in the food. We have been there multiple time and the food always been really good, however the past 2 times it hasn’t been that good. Cold prime ribs and scallops were just ok. For the price it should be excellent
Attentive staff. Good food. Pleasant settings. Outdoor patio. I recommend this place for a special occasion.
This was our second visit during our recent two week vacation at Rye Beach and everything was as memorable as our previous visit. We just love the ambience as well as the menu at this gem of a restaurant. Everything was cooked and presented to perfection, and service for both visits was excellent. We are sorry we do not live closer, but will be back next year!
Our waiter did not address the entire group when asking about beverages, appetizers etc. He responded to one request and left . Prime rib was offered and it was tough and under cooked. We happen to like beef on the rare side but we could not eat what was served. We will try again because of the ambience and will try a menu option other than beef.
Flawless meal with some true innovation and inspiration like the carrot butter with the scallops or the blueberry sauce with the swordfish special. CR's has always been good, but this meal was great to say nothing of welcoming and attentive management and staff.
Although we have eaten here a few times, it really seemed to be an off night. Both of our dinners were just average which really surprised us because we have had some wonderful food here before. Well I say, give it a try ... it could be much better than we experienced.
While the halibut was good, slightly dry. The service was slow. The tomato mozzarella appetizer was messy and should be served on a different plate than the wooden plank.
Great waiter, left us alone to visit and get to know our new neibors. I think his name was Matt. Crab tower was excellent as was the hanger steak and flounder . The Brussels sprouts were somewhat dry. The lobster risotto was alright but nothing special, would get a different entree next time. Will be back as it is close for us and usually pretty good meal.
Great food, great service and very nice atmosphere.
Love CRs. Food is always very good. It is a warm & friendly atmosphere. So important & goes along with their delicious food.
Anniversary dinner. 22 years.
This place gets five stars. Eat here. Order a Leatherman. Relax. Enjoy. Celebrate. Let the attentive and professional staff take care of you. It's what they do. Enjoy.
Great service, looking foward to going back and trying some other food options. Very nice menu choices
We had heard good things about The CR so planned a dinner with friends. Overall, we were disappointed. I was hoping that they would have changed the interior with the new restaurant but if they did, it was lost on me. In general, our disappointment was with inconsistent portions sizes and quality of the food. We were seated promptly and drink orders taken. When the bread baskets appeared, the bread had been oddly cut into tiny pieces the size of a large crouton. Three of us ordered the blackened swordfish. Two of us were served a normal portion. One was inappropriately served a piece of swordfish half the size of the others! My husband ordered the lamb chops and said he basically only got three bites out of his chops and that they were the worst he had ever tasted. However, others in our party enjoyed their meals and in all fairness those who ordered dessert were pleased.
One of our favorite restaurants of all time! We visit every few weeks. The atmosphere, service and food is consistently great. However, the preparation of some of our favorite menu items has changed recently. Sure hope the old choices return soon!
Had dinner at the bar food was great service was awesome
We were out celebrating my husbands Birthday and the overall experience was exceptional!! Our food was amazingly delicious , the service excellent and the environment very comfortable!! We wouldn’t hesitate coming again!!
Thanks for everything!!
Heidi was a terrific waiter. Would go back just to have her wait our table
The food was disappointing—scallops with gnocchi and a too heavy sauce and a bouillabaisse that was light on seafood. Our reservations were for 7 on Fathers’ Day and perhaps that was part of the problem. Our server couldn’t have been better and she had been working since 10 am so high marks for her.j
Father’s Day with friends.
My husband and I frequent CRs on a monthly basis and sometimes every other week. I enjoy the appetizers and one of their unique cocktails before dinner. If you are looking to pair an excellent wine with a meal, the wait staff is super helpful with suggestions. We've found some of our new favorite red wines this way! Of course, there's plenty to choose from if your also looking for a great traditional white as well. The Wagu meatballs are our favorite, the salmon is always an excellent choice, but the short ribs are fantastic as well. For dessert, the donuts are worth a try!
CRs is is our top choice when deciding to treat ourselves to a nice dinner after a long couple of weeks of work! Great atmosphere, friendly service and we always enjoy the drinks.
CR’s did it again! We went for Father’s Day brunch and everything was lovely! One small suggestion would be to offer a few breakfasty items for kids such as scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage/fruit and toast or perhaps some simple waffles or pancakes. Otherwise fantastic as always!!
We’ve had both good and bad experiences here. Brunch was great and we’d go back
Superb experience as always ! Chuck and his staff do a fantastic job from cocktails to dessert !
Very nice experience dining there with friends for an intimate birthday dinner. The complimentary birthday dessert was fabulous....and an unexpected treat.
Great service and a fantastic brussel sprout salad special. Very good altogether
We were told not to go there because the food is inconsistent. Should have listened to a former patron. My husband and I ordered the halibut. I wasn't going to complain, because my husband didn't want to go based on friends review. First words out of his mouth was this is very dry. I agreed. Our son had the boullibase. He said it was very bland, but liked the clam chowder. Our daughter and son in law (who eat there at least twice a month) had steak and said there's was fine. Cozy atmosphere, but wouldn't order seafood.
We expected a similar experience as the original CR Sparks but this fell short. Everything was OK, but not even close to what Sparks was like.
Food was meh. Ambiance and decor was similar to the original. Service was great except for having water spilled on us.
Not sure if id go back.
We frequent Cr’s and it has been nothing short of excellent every time we’ve gone there. Alida has served us on many occasions and is so good at what she does and she has such a good personality. I would and do recommend this restaurant to family and friends
We went to CRs for our anniversary, and were disappointed. We had been to the restaurant several times before and really loved the food, however on this visit the food was bland and the presentation was below what I would expect for the prices (our bill was over $220 including wine). On the good side, our waitress was very friendly.
We ordered a dozen oysters which were very good and served with several accompanying sauces. The fresh bread and hummus and the wines were also very good. The beet salad was tasty, but lacked a nice presentation, and the Caesar salad dressing did not have much flavor. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee, it was very good and came on a plate decorated for our anniversary which was a nice gesture.
For our entrees, I ordered the Bouillabaisse ($28), which was said to contain fresh fish, littleneck clams and lobster over homemade pasta. It came with 3 clams, 2 small pieces of fish, about a dozen tiny shrimp, and no lobster that I could taste. It was served over a spoonful of linguine that was so starchy it stayed in a ball. The broth had no flavor and tasted like watered down tomato sauce. My husband ordered the Steak au Poivre ($34), but asked for the Ribeye instead of the Filet. There was no pepper on the steak and the sauce had very little pepper in it, it was very bland, and the steak was overcooked.
Apparently since the last time we visited, the restaurant has a new chef, who in our opinion, is not as talented as the previous chef. We do not mind spending money for a good meal, but sadly, the prices of the entrees here do not reflect the quality, and so it will be a while before we return.
Everything was great but the Vegetarian dish was a disappointment.
Met with friends to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Medium rare order was overcooked. Another dish was over salted when "no salt" was requested when placing order. Fish was undercooked and had to be sent back. This was definitely not a good celebration dinner.
