The Crown has been welcoming guests for over 600 years. We pride ourselves in being a traditional village inn; a warm welcome awaits. The cosy fireside bar offers the unique ambience of our historic inn, along with traditional ales, lagers and an extensive wine and drinks list.

Whether you are after a light bite, a meal with friends, or sharing a family celebration our oak-panelled restaurant or relaxed lounge provides the perfect setting. Our head chef sources local and seasonal ingredients to deliver fresh, traditional and contemporary dishes for all tastes and dietary requirements. Children are welcomed and can choose from their own seasonal menu.

In warmer months, our sheltered courtyard garden enjoys the full midday sun. The small central courtyard is also available to book by request and offers a lovely private table. Balmy afternoons and evenings will find the front terrace full of diners and drinkers, enjoying the perfect spot for sundowners and watching the world go by.

Lovely building, comfy chairs, can bring your dog. Food was very nice, duch starter about touch but still delicious with the ginger and rest of salad. Fish and chips went off well, we prefer take the skin off chips. Lovely coffees and shortbread.

The Crown Inn is such a lovely place to have dinner. It’s right on a lovely village green and quite idyllic. We had an amazing roast and they were able to accommodate my mum with her garlic intolerance. Thank you so much. It really made our day.

Good food, friendly service, not too expensive. This gastro pub also enjoys a lovely location, so there is little not to like. Recommended.

An absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish — easily one of the best days Lisa and I have had this year eating out. The Crown Inn at Chiddingfold is the perfect blend of charm, character, and class. From the moment we stepped in, we were made to feel welcome and looked after without it ever feeling forced or overdone. The building itself is a beauty — full of old English warmth, low beams, cosy nooks, and that genuine countryside feel that so many places try to fake and fall short on. This place has it. The atmosphere was relaxed but vibrant, and the team working the floor were friendly, switched-on, and clearly proud of where they work — and rightly so. Now to the food. Absolutely spot on. Each course was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. You could taste the quality in every bite. And it wasn’t just the food — even the wine list was thoughtfully put together and reasonably priced for the standard. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt out of place. Just pure enjoyment. We left feeling full, happy, and already talking about when we’d be back. A proper treat of a place that delivers on every level — food, service, location, and atmosphere. Hats off to the team and the chef. The Crown Inn has got something very special going on. Highly, highly recommended.

Lovely meal with good friends. Very relaxed and we sat chatting for ages. I had the risotto and my friends had chicken caesar salad and all was very good.

We come here from time to time the menu is always exciting and the sharing board exceptional to start the evening , lovely wine and The Crown a very old but historic place not just to spend the evening but also if you wanted stay the night the village is very quaint , enjoy !!!

Delicious food but it took a full hour wait for a burger and a Mediterranean Flatbread to be served. Lovely spot to sit outside on a sunny summers day though
