This restaurant used to have the feeling of being in someone’s home...it fit the decor of the rest of the hotel. Wonderful menu, great service...lovely atmosphere.
Now you could be anywhere in a Hilton coffee shop.
It is as nameless and unattractive as any 5 entree hotel restaurant.
The staff generally try, but really need some training time.
The food, should be much better with such a limited ..burger and wrap... menu.
Say something nice...uhhh , good coffee.

Not super cheap but worth the money. Great service, buzzy bar, good food, lovely surroundings. For a treat rather than everyday.

We had not been to The Carolina Inn for dinner in several years. Our service was fabulous and the food was perfect. LOVE the biscuits with real honey and butter! I had scallops and my husband had salmon, all cooked just the right way. And the desserts were spectacular. Highly recommend a special occasion dinner at The Carolina Inn!! Thank you.

The hotel is beautiful but the restaurant decor did not quite fit. It was too modern and casual for the cuisine and the southern charm and elegance of the hotel. The food and service was superb.

Came into town for an event. This is a convenient and quality Sunday brunch will the value of central location and valet parking. While it’s a buffet the food was very good (poached eggs in braised short ribs) with starter fruit smoothie and freshly made cheese biscuits, et al. Obviously the atmosphere and history of The Carolina Inn makes it unique and interesting.

Despite a less than pleasant encounter with the valet, my husband and I had a lovely and spontaneous breakfast together on Monday. I was particularly grateful to Phil, the manager of the Carolina Inn, who helped to resolve a situation for us. The service in the restaurant has always been above and beyond and the servers and staff have always been lovely, helpful, and generous. My 3 stars for service has to do with the valet and not with the Crossroads Restaurant.

Havent been since renovation. Preferred former decor and food which was excellent. Can’t say the same with new. It wasn’t awful but nothing special. Trying too hard to be artisanal or trendy maybe. Few people there at 7 and none at 8:30 when we left. On a Wednesday
Feels like a slightly mod sports bar so might as well just make it one and go the burgers ‘american’ Food route. This fare won’t cut it at least for me and the friends I brought after having raved about it beforehand. They won’t be back either. Sorry. Still love the Inn tho

As always the food and service at Crossroads is excellent. I want to highlight a team member who is often overlooked: the hostess. Katrina is LOVELY --she has always made me feel like a VIP guest and this most recent visit was no exception. She and the other servers, who stopped to say hello at my table, were so welcoming and friendly that the new faculty member I was dining with really thought I was more important than I am . That's what the staff of this restaurant does: they make every guest feel like they are a Very Important Person! And Katrina is a great first ambassador for the restaurant.

So, you're obviously paying for the experience when you dine at the Carolina Inn, and pay you do. We stayed at the inn for a friend's wedding and had both one regular breakfast and one brunch. For the standard weekly breakfast, the prices aren't insane but the food is just ok. For the brunch, the quality of food is higher but the cost is outrageous--brunch for two with tax, tip and no alcohol was $77. I haven't paid that kind of money for breakfast foods since the Regis St. James in Paris. Again, I guess the point is the ambiance of a grande dame hotel, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it except for a special occasion.

Went for breakfast with a good friend. The meal was fair at best. Omlette was overcooked, hashbrowns over cooked, grits were soggy, egg was runny, bacon overcooked.

Would not recommend for breakfast, too bad because it's a wonderful spot

It had been a while since my last visit and the Crossroads Restaurant in the Carolina Inn has undergone a change ( I suspect) to modernize its look and feel . They have accomplished that objective but I feel they have lost the sophistication they once enjoyed. They are catering to a younger crowd who may not think vinyl placemats are a diminished look from actual table cloths. The menu is excellent and the food superb but the ambiance and mediocre service that I encountered suggest they have missed the point. The restaurant was very quiet on a Tuesday night and the service level was shameful for such an establishment. ( After a very long wait, I had to go looking for a server for the bill) . In all despite great food , the dining experience fell way below expectations.

Would recommend the restaurant for almost all of the items on the detail list above. Really a spiffy place with dedicated help. Also like the quick stop outside which one needs to use from time to time. Hoping you still do the fried green tomatoes...a friend wants these each time he comes. Am looking forward to hot buttered rum when playmakers does the Christmas story.

My first visit since the renovation to an international cosmopolitan décor from the gracious Southern restaurant. Beautiful before, and great update. Wait staff was outstanding and created an Inn Tray with consideration for my lactose allergy. The Inn Tray for lunch has all the perks of the former buffet--choice of soup, salad, entrée, dessert, & a beverage. Food prep and presentation beautiful on contemporary serving plate/tray. Bread and local honey divine. Definitely worth the drive from Raleigh, and I am looking forward to my next visit.

I was bringing friends who were first time visitors to Chapel Hill to what I explained was the "quintessential" place to eat in Chapel Hill. Our reservation was for 0945. The breakfast buffet was almost empty and food was cold on first pass. The breakfast buffet was broken down before we could even finish eating. Many (MOST!) items were unavailable when we returned for a second pass. Anything left on the buffet was clearly remnants.
The waiter was ABSOLUTELY fabulous (Javier) and brought us anything we asked for after the breakfast buffet disappeared but not only did we feel cheated, I was totally embarrassed by the complete disaster of a breakfast. Don't provide 0945 reservation times if there will be no food available. Terrible waste of money and time.
Javier deserves great credit because his service was impeccable and he really was the bright spot in an otherwise profoundly disappointing experience. Trust me when I say, I will think long and hard before returning for Sunday breakfast or brunch.

This buffet is AMAZING! One is wise to not eat at all before going to this, and perhaps to wear loose clothing! The variety of foods and the impressive tastes are too phenomenal for words... one must TASTE in order to fully experience. FABULOUS.

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Crossroads at the Carolina Inn. The space is open and quiet classical music filters in the background setting the stage for a lovely presentation of local and in season foods. We ordered the heirloom tomatoes with a homemade Parmesan cheese which was an absolute winner and the Losso Rocco Lettuce was refreshing. (Or a name similar to that.) Then the entrées also spectacular: we ordered the gnocchi with green beans, the iron skillet chicken, the lamb with spinach crepes and short ribs. Our server Allison was wonderful! We would go again.

This was Sunday Brunch with three old friends. We were celebrating 3 summer birthdays. The food was excellent. Javier was our waiter and he provided us with superb service. We all loved the atmosphere. I will definitely recommend Crossroads to others for Sunday brunch. The cost is reasonable for the atmosphere, service and food that you get. We are all 68 years old and we loved it.

We celebrated a birthday at Crossroads, and the evening surpassed even our very highest expectations. The menu is wide and creative, with each dish reflecting great care in flavoring. Our Celiac family member enjoyed edible bread while the rest of us savored the biscuits. Special birthday dessert was to die for. Our server could not have been more delightful and attentive, without being intrusive. Truly one of our favorite family meals ever. Kudos to the new chef and his staff.

This is a wonderful restaurant in the beautiful Carolinas Inn. I had the sea scallops which were perfectly prepared on a bed of arborio rice, peas and sunflowers seeds with a splash of an orange saffron sauce. Not an extensive menu but good variety of choices. The service was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The dessert was blackberry mousse cake with dark chocolate. Highly recommended

The wait staff was amazing and informative. They explained the high quality food and paired the wine. Some herbs and greens are grown there. Our waitress Susan was very professional and also the other wait staff. I went to a Gordon Ramsey restaurant in London last month and ; I must say... Gordon Ramsey has big competition here... "it's all good"...
