Went for brunch and it was a good meal. Service was quick and friendly. My chair wobbled some and the table itself was small, crowding everything which I don’t like.
The restaurant is in the beautiful Carolina Inn. The restaurant is lovely yet very loud. We were seated in the back room next to the fireplace which was a little quieter. The wait staff was amazing, especially James. He was well informed on the food and preparations. I would highly suggest going to the Carolina Inn for any meal or even a drink at the lovely bar.
The food at Crossroads continues to be first-rate. And the service is everything you could wish for. I think the prices are fair--but this is not an inexpensive night out. With wine, tip, and tax, dinner will be in the 65 to 75 range per person.
Crossroads is our go to spot for dinner before the symphony. As senior citizens, it is convenient free parking and the food and service are always top notch. Loved the blood orange creme brulee.
This used to be a very nice and elegant restaurant. Unfortunately they decided to renovate it and turn it into a very bland and generic space. The food and service is also not of the same quality as before. Such a shame, though it is still a convenient place for lunch if you are coming from UNC.
Great place for a business breakfast meeting because it is well lighted and quiet enough to talk.
Crossroads at The historic Carolina Inn is a contemporary restaurant that retains the southern charm of the Inn Itself . The venue is delightful and welcoming from the restaurant manager and the wine steward to all of the professional wait staff. The menu is well balanced and the chef is superb as is the food presentation .Our table selected three quite different main courses and every one received a rave review by the very happy and well travelled guests I brought to Crossroads .
My dinner partner and I were a bit tired from flying all day so decided to stay in the hotel and eat here at Crossroads. Great service, wine we ordered was unavailable but an excellent substitute was offered. Foie gras very good, as was the burrata and beet salad. Delicious main courses of scallops and wild mushroom pappardelle. Cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Very disappoint with foods ,300 $ dinner so expensive and not that good for a Valentine's day.
Everything was great. My only complaint was that there were no tablecloths. I had been before and it felt nicer. I do not like eating on. A bare table with such a high end dining option.
Thank you for the great ambiance of the restaurant, a good place to hold a breakfast meeting.
Awful. Food was horrible, so was service, never again!
Scallops were fabulous! Presentation was gorgeous! Service was impeccable! We were there on a Wednesday night and only two other tables were occupied during our meal-loved the quiet! Probably won't go back only because we did not fall in love with Chapel Hill, but we enjoyed our stay at The Carolina Inn and our dinner that night!
Excellent service as usual, we have direct billing and I love that you confirm . I also like that you inform me the day before and place the confirmation directly on my calendar.
Crossroads has good food for brunch. They provide a complimentary smoothie when you arrive and table set up was very classic. Though good the food was nothing I haven't seen at other breakfast buffets.
The service was very slow. We were a party of 7 and multiple times our waters went low with no one around to ask for refill. The few times we saw our waitress she was slightly kurr but provided the service that was requested. We had completed our meal and sat for another hour before we finally received our checks. These checks included a 35% gratuity which was too much in my opinion considering how slow the service was. Perhaps thats why it was so poor. The staff did not need to worry about getting a good tip because it was going to be on the bill anyway.
Perhaps it was a bad day or they were under staffed. I am not sure but that snapshot of Crossroads restaurant that day was average at best.
Great server, food, and lovely setting. Octopus and oyster appetizers were superb. The mushroom pasta dish was a particular hit among the entrees. Lovely culinary experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Great food and atmosphere - great for families.
Waiter was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Service prompt. Arugula and frisée salad was excellent.
Really good food, service a little slow but it was very packed pre-b-ball game meal. Seemed like plenty of back up servers but maybe short staffed on waiters. I felt sorry for our wait staff. Love the restaurant especially on less busy occasions.
Great food, service and location. We love the hotel. The Crossroads was excellent.
The food was perfect! The shrimp and lemon appetizer was incredible and both of our seafood entrees were cooked nicely. My scallops and my husband's swordfish were both served with a hefty serving of vegetables as well. Our server, James, was very attentive and made excellent wine and drink recommendations. The cheese biscuits served with honey and butter were amazing. We love walking around the Inn after dinner and always take advantage of the valet parking they offer for dinner guests.
We dined there on New Year's Eve with another couple. It was nice and quiet and we weren't rushed which was great. The food was quite good but not marvelous and it was a bit overpriced.
My main objection was the service. Two of us ordered cocktails and they took forever to come which made no sense at all as there weren't that many other folks dining. I had to ask our server for our drinks. They weren't that good and definitely priced on the high side.
He also goofed up (blamed their computer system) our dessert and bought us a single instead of a double creme brûlée.
I won't be coming back for dinner. May try again at lunch time but not in a big hurry.
First, Carolina Inn is so beautiful. When we arrived at restaurant for brunch, it was almost empty when we arrived. We ordered coffee and food. My cappuccino came late and cold, it feels like it has been sit there for long time. The food is decent which disappoint me because we went there for the name and review. My fried green tomato sandwich is like grilled tomato, well I guess it is healthier. They did not refill our coffee and water and we had to ask for. My friend had to ask for desert which included in the order. My friend asked for substitute a side, waiter did not mention there is extra charge or no substitute till we received bill. On top of that, it added 20% tip because we asked for separate checks. We addressed our concern to waiter and then manager. Though the manager finally corrected, but I do not think we will be back anytime soon based on its service.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was cooked properly but lacked flavor.
Overall, I enjoyed my Christmas brunch. Our table was in an especially nice area and quiet enough for my elderly mother who wears hearing aids and is often overwhelmed by restaurant noises.
The seafood selection was very good, as were salad items and desserts. My biggest complaint is lack of cooked vegetables and other vegetarian items. I would have enjoyed some roasted root veggies, creative grain dishes, etc. Not everyone who attends the holiday brunch is a carnivore, and the offerings were very meat-based and meat-centric.
We go every year. The food is beyond fabulous - worth every penny. All of the staff are simply lovely.
Hotel, Restaurant beautifully decorated. Ambiance Plus! Service excellent. Buffet good selection of food,
just warm by the time we returned to our table. The price was a big factor in us not returning. Over $300 for a plate of lukewarm food, a long walk to the buffet room. Not worth it! Next time I want to be served for a lot less than what we paid.
I am extremely disappointed that, with our reservation at 7:30, we did not get our main course until 9:30. I was taking my elderly mom out to celebrate Christmas. I certainly didn’t expect a wait time like this. She was very agitated from hunger while we had nothing to eat until a salad at 8:45. No bread served until after the appetizer. It was too much for her- the noise, the wait, and a ny steak that was as salty as an anchovy. We packed it in at 10pm. Took the food and dessert to go. This was a horrible experience except for the fact that our waiter was as awesome as he could be , thinking on his feet, and was sweet to my mom. Thoroughly dissatisfied, however with all the rest. And Not worth the high price.
Our reservation was for 7 p.m. We were seated about 7:15 and received our appetizer at 7:45 p.m. Our
main courses were not served until an hour later at 8:45 p.m. The food was excellent and our complaint
about the lateness of our meal resulted in a discount on the price of one meal. The restaurant was over-booked and could not fulfill the needs of its customers. We received our desserts in a timely fashion but by then, the restaurant was almost empty. I would not do this again.
The Inn is always lovely on Christmas Eve, but some of the the staff seems overwhelmed by the numbers, and the food isn't as good as it is on an average night. For $70, the food should be better and the place should either be better staffed or you should limit the number of reservations accordingly. That said, our server was delightful and professional.
breakfast with family..but super super loud. i was expecting tablecloth as it's at a nice hotel but alas no. ill find another place next year to take my mom
Service and food was outstanding. Beautiful Christmas decorations as well.
Felt sorry for our server. She had an entire room to wait on. 8 top, 6 top, 2-4 tops and 2-2 tops. As a result service was very slow. We didn’t like the bench seating because you are involved in others conversations. And it got really loud. Food was delicious.
Always a special time visiting the Inn!
Food, service very good. Noise level very loud. We were seated next to the bar which was very noisy and loud as the evening went on. We should have asked to be moved to a table in the back. We had a hard time holding a conversation.
We were the first 3 top.
Wish we had been warned when we made our reservation.
Our dinner was quite good, but we expected a larger selection of entrees. We considered simply ordering several appetizers but opted for steak since we liked the sides that came with it. We might have chosen a different entree if we had been allowed substitutions on the sides.
Service was outstanding . Food was very very good...especially that turkey and melted cheese sandwich .
