Crop Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This is the third time we’ve had brunch here, but unfortunately it seems the food selection has dwindled, particularly in the pastry/ dessert department. The food was still really good, however after being spoiled with the smorgasbord of sweets the first couple times we were slightly disappointed with the selection this time around.
After watching a local news show, I made reservations for my birthday at Crop Bistro and was not disappointed. We arrived a few minutes early and escorted to the bar to wait but it gave us a very good opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere, incredible artwork (ceiling and walls), and unique cocktails. After being seated, our server was very attentive and clearly understood the menu. We had cherry bombs as an appetizer (cherry tomatoes with chorizo), lobster ravioli and the haddock special, topped with a chocolate cake. It was one of the best, most delicious dinners we have had in a long time. The wine selection was reasonably priced too. It is all that they say it is & we will definitely be back, sharing it with friends and family.
What a wonderful day! This building was enormous. The decor is phenomenal! The dining experience was just great! Where do I start? The spacing for our large sized party was just right. Although the server had several tables to contend with during this time, Chris was just awesome! We felt welcomed from start to finish!
We celebrated my mother's birthday. She had a marvelous time and ate to her heart's content!
The food was spectacular and fresh the entire time!
Everyone in our party enjoyed themselves. I/ we can't wait to go back!
Interesting venue. Drinks and food were excellent. Service was ok. We were celebrating an anniversary and although it was mentioned during the reservation process, there was no mention of the occasion or even a congratulations. While that did not make or break the evening, it would be a nice touch to consider for your patrons. We would love to sit at the chef’s table next time. Looks like fun!
The food was delicious. We were a large group..eight people, our food came out in a timely manner and everyone was pleased with their choices. The lobster agnolotti was delicious the lobster was super fresh. My husband had the shrimp & scallops and said they were the best scallops he has ever had. Our server was very good and checked on theoughout the meal without being overbearing.
We loved it! Not a place we are likely to visit often due to high pricing but for a special occasion it is worth it. We were there for our anniversary and we thought it was a good choice for that. Our server was fantastic and the food was SO on point. actually maybe the best pasta I ever had.
The hostess was very friendly but our table wasn't ready when we got there, so she asked us to wait at the bar and have a drink. There were only 4 other people at the bar, we waiting 20 min for our drinks that never came before our table was ready. We were a party of 2 and were seated next to a large party of 15-20, so it was noisy and no ambiance for a date on sweetest day. We ordered a drink at the table and were told they didn't have the ingredients to make it. Then the waiter started to take our wine glasses and we told him we were going to order wine, he acted put out and set the wine glasses on the other side of the table. We ordered a $90 bottle of wine and asked to have it put in a decanter. We waited for another 15 min only to be told it was not available. When our 2nd choice came, the waiter poured the entire bottle into the decanter and never offered us a taste. After someone else brought our dinners, he came back and started to pour the wine without offering a taste. You need to know what you are doing if you have expensive wine on the menu! The waiter was rushed the entire time, he probably came to our table only 2 times. Then he told us they were slammed because of sweetest day and it was just a crazy night. Not my idea of a nice night out!
Despite having a reservation, they did not have a table for us. We are seasoned, flexible diners though and agreed to sit at the Chef's table. Big mistake! We were in no man's land. No one came to see us - not a server, not a manager, and especially not the chef. We sat for 25 minutes and finally went to the bar ourselves to get a drink. The bartender got things rolling and we quickly had a server. Took our order and we never saw anybody again except our food runners. Didn't see a manager, a server and especially not the chef. Went to the bar again for another round. Again bartender was great - comped our drinks and made things happen again. By this time our meal was done and we couldn't wait to get out. Owner came out to see us. We relayed the absolute terrible service experience. He seemed surprised - checked with the bartender and at least comped the meal. Average food for the price and this kind of place needs to compete on service. Super cool atmosphere but service is abysmal. Not sure why the chef table is called such because there is no banter with the chef as in other places. If you must go, do not sit there! I was happy the meal was comped but that was a frustrating experience for what was supposed to be a special occasion. We would have happily paid for good service. Bartender was fantastic.
A little disappointing. Our waitress was great, but the food just ok. Been to many restaurants, N.Y. Chicago, etc with different menus and energetic atmosphere, but this was a bit over the top. Huge party of 15-20 by us we couldn't even talk. The calamari was excellent, but not an expanded choice of entrees. Salmon is always a saving grace for me, but I couldn't even taste the fish it was over powered with a glaze. Beautiful inside, but loud like a cafeteria. Not a great date night atmosphere.
Our group of 6 selected a different dish for each of us. Every dinner was tasty and delicious. The scallops were tender and the Lamb Milanese was light and crispy.
Although the setting was unique, the openness of the room made it very noisy. It was difficult for us to have conversations across the table. If we didn't have a shadow server, we would have had poor service. Almost 20-30 minutes elapsed between cocktails and having our orders taken.
We agreed the experience was unique but we probably wouldn't be a repeat customer. There are several other restaurants with food on par with Crop Bistro but we would seek out something more intimate.
We had not been to Crop for a long time and decided to try it again. The space is beautiful, but the high ceiling and marble walls/floor make it very noisy. Management has tried to soften the noise, but it will require carpeting. We had a drink at the bar and enjoyed it.
The food, however, was not up to par. My husband had fried oysters and the batter was like cutting plastic. He had the daily special halibut and it was seriously overcooked. I had the lobster agnolotti, which was flavorful, but it was swimming in sauce. To their credit, management was very responsive and comped my husband's dinner and gave us dessert, but we won't come back again for a while.
We wanted to go somewhere different Thor our anniversary. A friend suggested Crop to us. I made the reservations (and I’m so glad I did) as the place was packed that night. We started off with a excellent bootleg of wine and the truffle popcorn appetizer. The truffle oil was delicious, but the pop corn was drenched in it I ordered the Halibut special that was served with Risotto and picked veggies. It was one of the best played I’ve ordered. My wife ordered the scallops and shrimp that was served with lobster grits and braised spinach. It was very rich, filling and outstanding we finished off the evening by splitting a piece of flourless chocolate cake that’s made with almond flour and cones with ice cream. Our server even brought us out 2 glasses of mik to go with the dessert . It was an fun, energetic evening in a truly outstanding place
Great food, disappointing service. There were 3 parties on a Monday night and we couldn't get water refills, our server didn't bring bread to our table when others had bread, he didn't follow-up when I asked for an espresso and was told that the machine was broken, but 'It might pump-out 1 cup.' I never did see that espresso, or a confirmation that I couldn't have one because the machine was broken. Guess he forgot? BUT, we were his only table. He was gone a lot of the time, as well. Sorry, I'm paying $30+ for an entree, I want excellent service.
Food always exceptional...
The food was good, but not outstanding. I enjoyed the deviled egg appetizer as it was unusual fare. It also was delicious. The steak was good but not particularly flavorful. The other entree was the shrimp special which was good. The waiter was wonderful, keeping our glasses full and checking on us. He was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. The surroundings were beautiful and made a special evening even more special.
We went here to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The restaurant hospitality, service, and food were all excellent. Our server was spot on with her recommendations. The meal was outstanding from appetizer to dessert. We even got a tour of the vault from the co-owner which was special despite a wedding reception going on there. Truly looking forward to going there for a future Sunday brunch.
Very dissapointing!! We heard wonderful things about the restaurants. Our dinner reservation was on Thursday evening at 8:15. When we arrived there were 2 people at the bar and only 1 table had customers. The restaurant was dead from the time we arrived to the time we left after dinner. The menu is limiting, very high fat, high carb food. Everything has sauces etc. There were 4 of us dining and no one enjoyed thier appetizers or entrees. Over priced!! Manager was accommodating when we complained and deducted the price of 1 of the bottles of wine we dad. He was very nice. We would not go back. Shame for the interior of the building is beautiful.
Beautiful venue for something different. Food is still good, although I think it's diminished over the last year. Still love coming here with people who have not seen this old bank building.
Large open room that can be a little loud due to acoustics, however, it is never too loud. Great for appetizers and a drink at the bar.
This is the third time I have come for brunch here. The location is beautiful, a restaurant homed in a renovated bank building, The food is great, and there are still complimentary 1st mimosas or bloody mary cocktails with Sunday brunch. The spread is wonderful and a great deal for the price. With that said, the space is loud as noise echoes off the walls and vaulted ceilings, so quiet intimate discussions and meetings will be challenging.
Service is great and the staff go out of their way to ensure you have a good time. I always recommend this restaurant as a Cleveland experience.
