Crooners Lounge and Supper Club Ratings and Reviews
Nice place. NYE menu was $50 for a four course meal. Food was good but not great. Lobster bisque and squash bisque were very good but the beef and the cordon bleu both seemed to be missing some complexity. Gravy served with the potatoes was ok but didn't have any depth to it. Chocolate ganache was too rigid and doughy. Bussers seemed to be having a lot of chatter on the floor and not making way for customers. We peaked at the lounge room and the bar area and it is a beautiful place. I looked at the menu and prices seemed a bit steep for the quality of food, on par with Sarna's a few miles a way but $5-10 more per entree.
We were seated in the Fireside room next to the entrance to the Dunsmore (sp?) Room. When the doors were closed the entertainment there made for pleasant background music but when the doors opened to allow passage to and from that room the music overpowered conversation at our table. These were infrequent and brief interruptions which were well tolerated by our group. The butternut squash soup was excellent. Most of the group opted for the crab stuffed walleye and all of them commented on the food as very well or excellent in preparation and taste. I had the chicken which I found to be just slightly over-cooked which resulted in the chicken being a little dry. The accompanying vegetables were excellent. The dessert choices were well received and, judging by the total consumption of the items, were very tasty and not oversized. While one of our group has a peanut allergy our waitress was sure to verify with the staff that his need for nut-free food was recognized and accommodated.
At no time did we feel rushed to complete our dinning experience and enjoyed our post meal conversation.
Food and service was good. We were in the "fireside" room which had a fireplace at the other end of the room and not even viable or on. We were all freezing and kept our coats on the entire time, maybe a space heater in that corner or some outside window coverings might be a good addition. Actually couldn't wait to be done sitting there, thought lounge would be better, but not much.
The service was terribly slow and not a lot of apologies or explanation. This place has great ambiance
And could be great but the service was soooo slow. We were there 15 minutes before a server came to our table and 30 minutes for our first drink. The saving grace was the Erin Schwab show.
My only complaint was that the waitress was too slow at taking our entree order (we had long finished our appetizers before she returned to take our main dish order). The entertainment had started before we had finished eating our dinner and we missed the intro. We had scheduled our meal for two hours in advance and that should have been sufficient.
We had dinner with our best friends in the room with the Southern exposure. It was a beautifully decorated, quiet and comfortable room with a lovely view of the lights reflecting off of Moore Lake. The waitress was pleasant and took us seamlessly to our seat in the northern room for the show when we were finished dining.
Overall, great experience. Our dinner took about 40 mins., but we were in no hurry. Also, we had placed our order as the placed filled up for the live music, so that probabaly had something to do with it. Good food, music, and ambiance. Cool experience as there are very little places like this that still exist.
This place used to be much better. The servers and decor are still wonderful. Mixed drinks, perfect. Menu limited, boring, high priced. Tables are too close, no room to move around. Also, we were not notified until arrival that we would be sharing our table (that we reserved over a month ahead) with another couple. Not pleased. According the menu given, my entree was to include a potato side, but was served wild rice. Not pleased. Acoustics need improvement and they need to figure out volume control for such a small space. I don't think we will be go back for dinner and night out. Maybe stop in for a drink if the music is someone we love to hear. Too bad, this used to be our favorite, go-to spot.
My neighbor send I went to Crooners just because! The wait staff were wonderful and attentive but not overbearing. The food was hot and delicious. After dinner, we went on the lounge and listened to a Jazz Ensemble and really enjoyed! Thank you for making our evening special
This was our 38th wedding anniversary. It was very noisy when we entered. However, after looking around we could see that this was a happy and social place. Many tables had groups or couples having a great time. We, too, had a great time celebrating our special day. The food was excellent. We will definitely come back!
We had lunch at Crooners for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful. The music was outstanding. Really made for a special lunch. The food was excellent - and a LOT of it. Nice to take some leftovers home. If in town again for Thanksgiving - we will do this again. Wonder if they do the same for Christmas. That would be great.
I asked for well done steak they brought me half done steak and the waitress did not bother doing anything about it. My friend asked for a vegetarian burger, they put meat on it,when asked about it they just removed the meat parts and brought back the burger with all the meat juice and taste on it.
A great place but be firm and make sure you pay for what you asked.
We went for the first time on 11/9/17 for the music and the food. Both were really good. The place was busy but not noisy. Our waitperson Amanda was SUPERB! Best we've had anywhere and we eat out a lot. She was very attentive and friendly. Three male staff also assisted with food delivery, cleanup and asking how everything was. We would definitely go again.
A surprising dinner. We went during Twin Cities Restaurant Week with the prix fixe meals. At Crooners, they were $30. We had excellent walleye appetizers, and there were four of us and among us we tried all three of the entree choices: steak, salmon, and risotto. The desserts were amazing. Service was attentive and pleasant, but it was a Sunday evening so it was quiet. Wine list is small, but various price ranges to satisfy a choice. Will go back.
