The Crooner's experience was fabulous--everything from food to the attentive service to the setting--made for a special evening. It turned out that my dinner partner had taken her husband to the restaurant before and he was jealous that he was not part of the experience that night.
I encouraged her to take the music calendar for Crooners so she could share with her husband and return with him.
The only disappointment was that I had noted that my guest and I were celebrating Leo birthdays (july/august) when I made the reservation on open table, but there was no mention of it. Why ask if there is no follow through?
We are having my daughters wedding reception at Crooners in late August, and my wife hasn't been to the establishment. Our Anniversary is early August, so she asked if we could have dinner there to tie all things together.
5PM Early dinner and we left just as the music started, but great service and care was taken to make sure we enjoyed our date night out.
Chef's complimentary desert to boot.
Recommend this to all my friends and family for a nice peaceful night out.
Ordered my prime rib "medium rare", it came "medium well...sent it back. They replaced it quickly. The prime rib was PERFECT! The other three people ordered Chicken pot pies, they were generous portions and tasty. HOWEVER...every side dish on all four plates, was cold or room temperature at best...from my au jus to my mashed potatoes to the wild rice served with the pot pies. Even the vegetable of the night, asparagus was cold...inexcusable!!!! We have been to Crooners several times, and one other time, my wife ordered the extra charge au gratin potatoes, which came cold. How difficult is it for the chef and his minions to make sure that the entire meal is served hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you have the nerve to charge an extra $6 for a basket of four slices of bread, with no salad included with the meal, one would hope that the rest of the meal would be PERFECT!!!
Food was okay but very limited menu. The prior restaurant (Shorewood) has a much better menu and food.
One room was dedicated to music by a live band and it was sold out. We ate in the other dining room which was very very quiet for a Sunday night.
Food was adequate. Appetizers were overpriced and not very good. I had the parmesan crusted walleye and it was very good. Drinks were reasonable. Food grade C
I am so glad there is a nicer restaurant in the northern suburbs. We get sick of the sports bars. This restaurant is excellent and the service is the best.
Early (5:30 p.m.) dinner on a Friday with family. Cocktails were excellent, as was the poutine appetizer. Prime rib was healthy portion, and the cheeseburger was great (with a side of the "best tater tots ever"). However, four small scallops portion was very meager for the relatively-expensive price point and the wild rice was mushy and warm, not hot. Creme brule was grainy in texture and only mildly rich. We had a terrific meal about 2 months ago so will be willing to try again.
Not a bad seat in the house for enjoying the music. Ambiance conjures an old school jazz club. Acme Jazz was wonderful and so was Arnie. Food was pretty good too. Have the charcuterie - a meal all by itself but great to share.
Service was super slow. Had to wait 45 minutes for meal when the restaurant was not busy. People who were seated and ordered after we did received their meals much sooner than ours. Had to ask for status of our order. Prime Rib was just okay and received medium vs. medium rare. Server was not attentive at all - too busy chatting with staff and didn't seem to have any interest in working.
Great food! Wonderful music!
Great service, overall food was good. Nice version on the Wedge Salad. They have a sleeper wine on their list. The Washington State Basel Cellars 2013 Claret is excellent,.Was nice to see the owner introduce the musicians. Jennifer Grimm, her husband Joe Cruz on guitar and Lisa ( sorry I can't remember her last name) on sax made for an exceptional music experience. Venue is great too.
We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary.
While we were eating our meal, the host brought a couple and sat them with us!
He called them our table guests.
There were other tables available.
Not sure why this happened.
Donna was a very great server. We had my Grandma’s 85th birthday dinner and it was a delicious meal for all!
We hadn't been to Crooners for a while. It used to be fantastic. It has gone down in service and food quality. It's very expensive for the quality of the food. I felt very rushed and wasnt able to sit and enjoy a drink before dinner. This place used to be where we would bring out of town guests. I don't think we will be back.
I expected more quality for the price of the food. While definitely an upscale supper club, it was not nearly as good as I expected.
The food was not quite warm when it was delivered to the table. The wait staff was not very attentive. I was disappointed as I had not had that experience other times I had dined there. I had to ask the servers to remove dirty plates from the table. I didn't think the server was very knowledgeable.
We recommend having dinner in the lounge / dining room before a show. You need to be quiet during the show and eating is distracting. Our server was wonderful - very attentive. We stayed after the show and sat in the lounge for additional music. Love Crooners!
Mother's day 2018. The fixed menu was a bit pricey and a couple of entrees were on the cool side. Lots of food though!
During the meal the next live music act set up for their set and rehearsed a bit. A bit disruptive, but good jazz.
We have been to Crooner’s for Mother’s Day brunch buffet the last few years and loved it. This year Crooner’s had a three course meal for the Mother’s Day meal. My family did not enjoy the food, the service, or the overall experience this year. I was celebrating my first Mother’s Day with my son and with my entire family and we were wholeheartedly disappointed; we will not be going back. No one finished any course as all of the offerings were terrible and all courses closely resembled the other courses.
Went there for Mother’s Day. Instead of a brunch buffet, they had a 3-course uninspiring menu. The food was mediocre at best. They did have live music but it was too loud and conversations were difficult to hear. Service was poor and it was a challenge getting the servers attention for missing place setting pieces, more water, etc. The pricing was too high for the food quality and service. Maybe this place is good for happy hour or their live music at night, but it’s not where to go for a good meal. It’s too bad because I really wanted to like this place.
Was not very impressed in your menu selection at all. Was hoping for Lobster or seafood and you don't serve it. Server hardly ever came to table so we felt pushed on giving 20% . We will never be coming again
Probably the best risotto in town and when you add shrimp what a meal! I wasn't sure why when I made the reservations it asked if we were celebrating a special occasion which we were. I thought maybe a complimentary dessert would be coming:(
Went there for a wedding anniversary. Had the Divers Scallops and the Stead Diane (with various accompaniments) and it was all very good. We were seated with a view of the lake, which was nice despite being too early in the spring to be at its most attractive.
A friend recommended this place. My husband had a great time. The food was good and the staff friendly.
Really nice place. Great live music, service and food was excellent.
Good value ,nice staff, good music venue and nice sound
Food is unimaginitive, bland plus cheapest butter it tasted like Crisco. Food came out only Luke warm. Never returning for the food...maybe the entertainment.
We have labeled Crooner's one of our favorite "special " places!
Saw a great show and were able to easily visit with friends, quiet and fun! Will definitely be back
First time there and had great live music. Both performers we're fantastic, food was good, we'll be back!
Easter Brunch-horrible service, long wait for water food and drinks!
We were greeted and seating fairly close to our reservation time. The set food options provided a good variety of choices for each of the three courses, but the service was extremely slow. Our meal took over two hours. The spinach salad was very good, but contained mostly mixed greens and very little spinach. The garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic flavor. The Cornish hen was disappointing and was missing the listed sweet potatoes. The only vegetable listed was asparagus and that is the one vegetable my husband does not eat. The best course was dessert.
I have eaten here before and it was good, but the Easter Brunch could not be recommended.
Our family went to Crooners for Easter Brunch. We chose the restaurant because of the close proximity to our home, the always great live music and advertised menu for the Easter Brunch.
The 3 course meal options were amazing, the food was excellent, the wait staff was attentive, friendly and tried to stay on top of the large amount of orders all at once.
The problem is that the kitchen staff just couldn't keep up with the orders which caused a really long wait for the food to arrive. I don't believe this is the case on a regular dinner night, but was a major disappointment for our Easter Brunch. The 5 of us got out of there in 2.5 hours. Luckily we were having a great time as a family and understood the situation and made the best of it. Other customers were not so understanding and management received multiple complaints. We would give Crooners another try for a dinner on a regular night, but likely not going to try the Brunch again due to the lengthy wait for the food.
The service was terrible. It took 45 minutes to get our salads. It was an Easter dinner and they were busy but not packed. Very disappointing. I have been there many times for dinner this was the first time I took the whole family. Never again
We went for Easter Brunch and they were completely overwhelmed. We didn't get seated until a half hour after our reservation. The kitchen was very backed up so our food took forever (even with a limited menu). The food itself was good and the ambience was very nice with live entertainment.
We had reservations for 3 for Easter brunch, and when we arrived it seemed very chaotic, which I thought ok because it’s Easter. We got sat down but only after I asked again once we were checked in, and waited a few minutes to be served our drinks. The part was bad is it was a three course meal, we still didn’t have our first course after an hour and a half. After looking around there seemed to be people getting upset, as they were waiting a long time in between their courses. There were only a few select items for each course, so the food shouldn’t have been a problem. Our waitress finally came over and said she would check what was going on, and it was still a few minutes no food. So we left. We will not be back.
Went here for first time for Easter brunch food and music was wonderful service however was horrid. We arrived at 12:30 and as long as the band was on the stage we weren't to disappointed with how slow the service was but after 2:00 when the band was done we were still waiting on our desert. Several other tables had been there for an hour and still hadn't received their food yet. At 2:30 we finally asked for the desert to go and our check right away. Not sure if the service is always like that but not sure we will be back because of it.
We've regularly gone to Crooner's for dinner and enjoyed their live entertainment. The food has always been amazing. Sadly, I have to give them 1 star for Easter brunch. We made reservations and arrived on time with a party of 5. Not all that busy. The menu was a set menu with a starter, an entrée and a choice of dessert. For each category there were 5 choices. You would think this would make it easy for the kitchen. Drink specials were $5 mimosa or $6 bloody Mary. Not a special price in my opinion. We opted to order our first meal rather than place an order for each meal thinking it wouldn't be a problem. Surely the waitress would have made it a recommendation if it were an issue. Big mistake. In a nutshell, we arrived at 12:15 and didn't get out of there until 3:00! Even the drinks took forever. Many people sat waiting to be served. Some left without getting to the dessert. I hope they got it to go because at $30 PP it wasn't cheap. Fast forward to a tab of $222 for 5 people, 3 hours that we'll never get back and a waitress who has no business being in front of people. Not a good experience. Would not go back for this type of event again.
What a wonderful atmosphere. Was looking for a traditional supper club with the relish tray and garlic toast. That would have made it even better. Not crazy about getting charged for a bread basket, but the bread was excellent. We enjoyed our meals and will be back again.
The Waitress wasn't able to process the 100$ gift card we had gotten. Not the end of the world but it hasn't been take care of yet and at this point I have no reason to believe it will be.
