Crompton Ale House
Food was incredible, the sliders and wings were very good. Some beer cans were out, but it wasn’t a big deal. Some TV’s and music playing in the background. Love the bookcase walls opposite the bar.
Good service and solid meal.
Great Place - food was fresh and delicious - very attentive staff - will def go back!
Stopped in for a relaxing lunch before we caught the train home and was pleasantly surprised. Nice pace on the food and drinks with great service.
Food was ok but ambiance was the LOUDEST we have ever encountered in a restaurant/bar...it was painful....we could not hear each other talk....if you go, make sure there isn't a world cup soccer game being blasted on all their screens!....
Food was tasty. Service is good.Atmosphere is fun. Would definitely recommend
A midtown side street bar with utterly amazing food. A dark clubby atmosphere all in shades of brown wood and brass - but with a fascinating modern interior design full of intricate carvings. The beer list was good, the service attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent. The strip steak was aged and cooked to perfection. The skirt steak sandwich was sublime, with perfectly cooked steak, rosemary, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and a delicious creamy cheese on the bread. The only fly in the ointment was the noise level. The music was on too loud and the conversation was noisy to be heard over it.
Excellent food and beer menu. Love the decor. It was a great time.
We went because it was new in the neighborhood. The menu was pretty good - a good selection of appetizers and casual dining items. We were glad that we got one of the few booths in the back, however, as the bar was pretty noisy and we were having a friends get-together, just three of us. They seem to be positioning themselves to be more of a sports bar, though -- even in our booth there was a TV screen with some kind of sports on it. We tried to turn it off, but weren't able to.
Crompton Ale House was great! Excellent food and excellent service.
Wonderful food ( get the pretzel app). Clever drink menu. Homemade pickle joined martini was yummy
I made a reservation for my 8 friends and I to watch the Super Bowl here and it was great. Despite the crowd we got our food and drinks right away and the food was great (especially the wings were amazing)! They even had cups that lit up for the scoring team with their color and turned the game up loud. A great place to come to watch a game or just enjoy some wings and a beer!
Food was great!!! Very busy on a Wednesday night so the service was slow...the waitress did the best she could but she had too many tables.
Food was good. Appetizers took a long time and then came out at the same time as the meal.
Made the reservation and when I arrived with my 3 guests, we were told that the kitchen was closed. We were then informed by other guests that the bartender had informed them that the kitchen was still open. It was New Year’s Eve and we weren’t able to be seated because of this. The restaurant didn’t seem to have an operating open table system. Will not return.
A great place to either have a drink or a bite to eat. The food was good value, the music bit too loud so you could have a conversation and the staff very helpful and friendly. Would happily go back
I met my family for a casual thanksgiving dinner. All seemed to be perfect for what we wanted until someone had a problem with their meal. Asked for medium rare steak and it was well done when cut into. Waitress happily took it back ageeeing it was over cooked. The manager brought it back and told her to cut off the ends and the middle is fine. That meant not eating half of the over cooked steak. I found this to be a surprising response to a clearly over cooked meal
I reserved at Crompton Ale House when my daughters and I were planning our recent trip to NYC from Canada. I received confirmation of my reservation, as well as two follow-up e-mails. We arrived a few minutes early, so weren't surprised that our table wasn't ready, but waited an extra 15-20 minutes beyond our reservation time to be seated, and it appeared that people sitting at a table were asked to move to the longer bar tables so that we could sit down. This surprised me, because we could see 'reserved' signs on some tables, but not on a table for us.
The ball game was on and the place was packed, so we weren't terribly surprised by how noisy it was, but we had to speak very loudly to each other to be heard.
The mozzarella sticks were the best we've ever had, and one of my daughters loved her salad dinner. The pretzels were good, too. One of my other daughters ordered the chicken Caesar salad, and found the chicken to be quite dry. I ordered the Crompton burger, and while the fries were fantastic, there was a long hair in my burger. I didn't bother complaining about it, as the servers were super busy and we'd already been there quite some time, so I just ate what I could. Our server was lovely, but the girl at the front looked like she was avoiding us after she realized there was no table for us, despite having reserved. She repeatedly told us to 'give her five minutes', at least three times. This may all be the norm in NYC, I really don't know, but I'm not sure I'd go again, at least not on a Friday night.
Food was excellent. Service was fine but not outstanding. The restaurant was cold but the weather had been changeable.
The place was surprisingly empty for lunch in midtown Manhattan. The waitress seemed a bit out of it and spaced out. But the food was good and the atmosphere pleasant.
Crompton is definitely a bar/ restaurant, not a restaurant with a bar. The crowd was lively but respectful. Service was terrific and the hamburgers were some of the best I have had in NYC. Definitely worth a visit
Always the best meeting spot. So friendly and great food and service!
Crompton Ale House has a great Happy Hour in a fun pub setting. We loved this place! Everyone from the hostess, wait staff, bartenders, bus boys, and manager were great. They really make you feel welcome and seem genuinely interested in their guests having a great dining experience! The manager is very attentive and continuously walks the pub to make sure everyone is happy and has what they need. The Happy Hour drink menu is a great value. Good beer selection and delicious cosmos. Also the food is yummy. I recommend the nachos, club sandwich and buffalo chicken pizza. We were in New York for the weekend and ended up going back to the Crompton Ale House all three days of our stay. Thanks to the staff for a great time. We'll be back!
I came here for lunch with a girlfriend and had the loveliest most delicious experience. My food was cooked to perfection and super yummy and the staff was awesome. The place is gorgeous, too. I mean, seriously the nicest (and cleanest) pub (Irish or otherwise) to which I've ever been. I totally LOVE this place. Perfect spot for drinking, eating, hanging with friends. Totally recommend.
Don't let the outside deceive you, this bar is highly decorated and designed inside. Great theme, great food, and great drinks.
Tried sharing menu for lunch which allowed you to pick three items instead of getting Turkey Club which was a mistake. Had to send back bratwurst because it was still cold when I tasted it. Overall would say food was below average for pub grub.
New year celebration
Came for late lunch. Not crowded. Loud music in a bar setting--multiple tv screens with sports programs . I was alone and business was slow--the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Had the Swiss-mushroom--onions burger. Cooked perfectly and tasty with fries. Overall a good experience. The menu is somewhat limited since it is primarily a bar setting.
Everything was wonderful, what a great dining experience.
Friends and I meet at Crompton every week! The location is perfect for us and convenient to hotels and businesses. Arriving early is a good idea when there's hockey at MSG. We enjoy the great reception we get upon arrival and to see the "reserved" sign on "our" table! We also enjoy the great service of Arun every week!!
Great service. Good food. A very friendly place to hang out with friends.
Very confused staff...did not even seem to know what Open Table was.
Standard pub with a touch of class. Weird crowd, likely because of location. Amazing service. Food is acceptable because it is bar food, would not go for dinner. Happy hour is cheap and lasts until 7. Can get crowded.
This is our favorite weekly meet up place! We were welcomed back!! Love our server & hostess!!
Good burger, good was good. Very absent minded waitress..she never came back after taking our order...the bus boys do the work
I met up with out of town family members (3 of us) and we had simple orders - a plain burger, a margarita pizza and fish tacos. The burger order was incorrect (they added cheese and bacon) and the fish in the tacos was battered and fried (so much for a healthy choice). My pizza was fine, but not exceptional. Since the restaurant was not busy at lunch on a Saturday, we were able to linger with a few drinks after the meal which was nice. Although convenient for my family's hotel, I'll pick another place in the neighborhood for their next visit.
Check this place out because of another review and it was near my hotel. Highly recommend the burgers and hand cut fries. Great beer selection and cool decor. They also have happy hour 3-7.
Firstly our waitress was quite rude the entire time. The meals themselves were fine when we finally realized what we wanted - the menus you find online and on their website are NOT updated. My other big complaint was the cost of the drinks. Each mixed drink was $14! Seriously way too expensive. I was here for my birthday dinner and I was really disappointed.
This week we changed our order, to the surprise of our favorite server.
The food was really good!
The prosecco was a new brand and it's delicious!
We look forward to next week!
My friends and I meet here every week. It never disappoints! Service is so good! They remember us, our orders and everything is fresh and well prepared!
