We have been at Crispins the 2nd time with a big group and we where all very satisfied about everything. Delicious authentic it alien food with a twist. Great location for a group to sit together on a long table. We will be back soon in april.
Excellent food, wine and service. Disappointed that there is a huge TV right in the middle of this otherwise cozy, elegant restaurant.
I made a Valentine's Day reservation to come here with my girlfriend after attending the nearby Daily Show studio and it was a great ending to our Valentine's Day. The staff was welcoming and helpful, the environment was cozy and welcoming, not too loud, and the food was very good. Will plan to come back here again.
The service was poor. It was Valentine's Day and I was served my dessert before the waitress realized we had not received our main entrees. I tried to explain to her that we had not received our entrées when she asked for our dessert order and coffee. Instead of checking on entrees she ignored what we said. After all was said and done no entrees had been prepared. Maybe if someone like a manager would have came to the table and said I'm sorry, we made a mistake, have another glass of wine on us while we correct the issue, everything would have been great. But no one ever came to us other than the waitress who barely understood English and she didn't even say sorry, we made a mistake.
I am a very understanding person as I have been in the restaurant industry in the past and understand how busy it probably was because of Valentine's Day but just a little acknowledgment would have been enough.
Third time is a charm. I tried Crispins two other times over the last year (it's one block from my apartment) and was never impressed. However, I had dinner there this week and found a great new menu, a value priced wine list, good food and a welcoming and warm ambience. Give it a try - seems like a turnaround in the making...
Had an awesome friends get together dinner here, and everyone had a great time. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and most of all service were all amazing!!!
I will definitely be coming back!!!!
Subdued atmosphere, very relaxed & intimate. Service left nothing to be desired ... they were great. The food was excellently prepared & presented & absolutely delicious. If you get a chance try the branzino, it was really terrific.
I have been to Crispin's twice so far and wanted to wait until my second time to write a review to make sure I did not have a uniquely pleasant experience the first time I went. In a neighborhood with innumerable places to choose from, this is a stand-out. The service is excellent, the ambience is warm and welcoming and the food is outstanding - a wide selection of expertly prepared dishes with fresh, flavorful ingredients. If an Italian-American friend of mine swoons over a rigatoni dish and says she cannot wait to come back, you know they must be doing something right. I had branzino that was better than at my -so far - favorite place in the neighborhood I live in - melt-in-your mouth tender white flesh under a crispy skin broiled to perfection - and another friend's salmon looked good enough for me to regret I could not order a second entrée (and she confirmed that :) ). Our server was friendly, polite, knowledgeable and very accommodating. I should add that at this second visit we used a groupon ... and you know that you are not always treated like a full-paying customer at some places when you re dining at a significant discount. Not here. Portions, quality and service were as outstanding as the first time I dined here, without a groupon. These people care about their guests. Like my friend, I cannot wait to be back!
Delicious food. Great service . Wonderful stuff. Can't wait to go back again.
Hopefully this was a one-off, but honestly, it was the worst dining experience I've had in 5yr of NYC.
Saturday @ 8pm.
Picked a bottle of wine from the menu. Don't have it. Picked another. Don't have it either.
Chicken was pink and raw in the middle. Two others got sick from the carbonara.
They were friendly but not apologetic. Did not charge us for the chicken. But still,
Potatoes were delicious
My salmon dish was extraordinary and so large, I didn't finish it. We had an ice cream dessert that was spectacular. Great wine and the service was good.
I could wish they would eliminate the techno music or lower it. Repetitive and a little annoying.
We had theatre tickets for Ars Nova, a terrific theatre company around the corner so this was a pleasant surprise for 10th Ave dining
Great food as always! Nice and friendly service! They are open after 10 pm, which is a plus!
Only wine and beer. No mention of that in any review or menu listing. Food very good. Beet salad yummy. Good location for event we attended. Service attentive to our time constraints.
We were excited to try Crispins. We walk by it often and the ambiance is lovely. The space is clean and open and yet cozy. Our server was lovely and helpful
We so wanted to love it. Our first surprise was the wine menu. The least expensive Bottle was 92$. We were shocked. This is a corner casual neighborhood restaurant and we expected reasonable prices. Our server brought us house wine for a fair price. He was startled as well
The menu choices were limited but fine however my husband had to send his steak back three times to get it medium well
The restaurant has potential but at its current state we will not be returning
Ask about the daily special. The Burrata was an amazing find! My only comment was that at an Italian restaurant, it was...peculiar...that they were playing techno/dance music during the meal. Not that it was loud; just an interesting choice.
Terrible service and expensive food. Server had to be reminded multiple times for items. Restaurant was not busy at all but server was not attentive. I had Groupon so it seemed worth it but I will not be visiting again.
The waitress saw we were using a Groupon and proceeded to act like we were bothering her. Service was horrible, food was good. It was 4pm and their were cases of wine all over the restaurant. They emptied them as we dined which didn't do much for the ambiance!
Many of our favorite items including the chicken and ravioli and wine where out of stock. The waiter apologized. This was a favorite local place until this visit. Still waiting to hear from manager as of 11/26/16. Nothing.
Music too loud and pasta overcooked, but tasty. Also, they need to stop playing with the lights. One second as light as a ball field the next as dark as a cave.
Most of the wines on the wine list were not actually available. The servers were very nice, but not at all knowledgeable about the menu. The restroom was through a narrow passage where employees tend to gather and linger making it hard to pass by.
Crispin's is a great find in a lively neighborhood. I would highly recommend this for a stop pre or post theater. And if you're in the area, it's a good stop for dinner. Very lively crowd with lots of energy!
Always have a great dinner here, I came with 2 friends and we shared everything starting with those wonderful meatballs, the penne gorgonzola, and to our last course. The service is always conducive to our needs, prompt if we need to get to theater or relaxed we're having a night of wine and conversation.
First time here. Food & service excellent. Great for theater date.
The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating though looked to
We wanted someplace quiet. This was great. Exquisite food. Honest
My husband and I were visiting NYC this past weekend, and we had a Groupon for Crispin's. We're so glad we went! The food was delicious and service was excellent. We had the calamari, tortelli and branzino --all of which were amazing! The portions were good sized. We also tried the cheesecake and panna cotta. The panna cotta was my favorite! It was so creamy and perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. I would absolutely return to Crisipin's next time we are in NYC. Great place for date night or just an everyday dinner with friends (and wine)!
Service was fast, staff very nice and great food!
The menu was completely different from the one they have posted on line. They didn't have several of the dishes that we had gone specifically for. Moreover they ran out of one of the only other things of interest on the menu. In addition to that disappointment, they were difficult about providing a taste of wine. We weren't sure which one to order and only asked for one taste and they were not cooperative or helpful. We ended up leaving without eating there. I would not return.
Went to Crispins after the theater. Good wine, excellent pasta & service was good. Will go back again.
The restaurant was hot and empty. We tried to order seven different bottles of wine, and they were out of each wine we selected. The food was tasteless and overpriced, and the tomatoes were green instead of red. With all of the restaurants in NYC, there is no reason to ever done at Crispins.
We had a small business dinner and enjoyed the warm atmosphere.
I'm sorry... No disrespect.
I cannot find a single good thing to say about this poor little restaurant. It was awful.
Their noodle Bolognese had no flavor.
The spinach in the tortellini was raw.
The table bread was stale, and no joke, was burnt. No butter was served.
The lobster ravioli cream sauce had the texture of Velveeta.
They didn't have more than half of the red wines listed on their wine list.
The bill for three of us was $98.
And no bottle of wine was included in the price. It was only a couple of glasses.
I wish I was making all of this up.
I'm not being over dramatic, I don't wish them ill will, and I'm not holding a grudge.
I'm not a food snob, a wine snob, or a food critic.
We had a few bites, and then we literally had to leave.
I respectfully paid my bill in full, and left a good tip.
All the reviews that I checked out prior to dining there were positive. I just don't understand.
I could cook better than this on my worst day.
Food was amazing.
Starter of fried calamari was slightly over-battered, but of a generous serving tending toward an entree sized dish. The entrees (mains) of chicken and salmon were satisfactory but did not excite our palate.
Most concerning was the level of service which we found to be bizarre. We commend our waiter from Lithuania who was very competent and friendly. However another waiter (dark hair, wore glasses and had a very deep voice) spilt water while filling our water glass and did not apologize. We ordered two glasses of Prosecco only to be told by him we could only buy a bottle - according to the wine menu we could, and he was wrong. We felt he was not a trained waiter as he cleared my partner's main course plate before I had finished mine - I have never experienced this in any restaurant who takes themselves seriously in delivering good food and service.
Great waiter from Lithuania! Bronzino was excellent.
Early dinner in HK on a Thursday night. Very slow inside - reservation not needed. Seated towards back at small 2-top, despite space all around. Hate have aisles on either side, with lots dishes on small table. Will ask for bigger table - especially since not busy. Few other guests, so noise was not an issue. However, I could see if it were busy, conversations could be difficult, as tables VERY close to one another with limited room to move. Hip rustic decor inside - wood planks. Kinda dark, for a sunny afternoon - sat in back - should have requested closer to front.
Attentive wait staff - perhaps its more of a late night location or bar scene.
Food was good. Shared a few items:
Eggplant & ricotta - awesome! regretted I opted to share it, sauce was tasty
Bresaola & pear salad - perfect to share - interesting - needed more pears
Scallops - yummy on their own - but small portion - 3 scallops!!! Never consider it an entree size dish!
It's nice to have good, quality restaurants on 10th ave. The food is always great and the service attentive. Another great visit!
Great atmosphere. We sat by the window which was perfect to watch the city go by. The food was outstanding and priced reasonable. The servers were very attentive. We would definitely go back.
We had family in from Florida for the weekend and wanted to get everyone together for dinner on Friday night. The restaurant itself was very appealing and the food was excellent! Our server handled the 10 of us like a pro and the whole meal went off without a hitch. We will definitely be back!
