We made reservations last minute for a bottomless Halloween brunch for 7, and I'm quite happy we did. The food options were quite creative, with as many egg options as anyone could ever want. From scrambles to benedicts to huevos rancheros, the options were endless. One of the folks in our party got a sandwich with the jalapeno bacon--I did not have a taste, but it looked delicious and was completely gone by the end of the meal, so I think it's safe to say lunch and dinner options are also strong.
We did the bottomless option ($14 on top of your entree price) and while you can't switch out between bloody mary's and mimosas, you can alternate between mimosas and the poinsettia mix, which I would recommend. Our waiter was probably serving a few too many tables, so my only qualm with the dining experience as a whole was a result of our drinks not being refilled quite as regularly as they should've been.
Overall, great bottomless deal for a group, solid food and convenient location.
They seemed understaffed for a Saturday brunch...there was only one server and hostess on the floor for the entire restaurant. We had to wait twenty minutes to be seated, even though I had a reservation. That is a huge pet peeve of mine! She was nice and the service was great overall, but it did influence wait time for seating, drinks, and food. I ordered the carnitas benedict and was pleased. The bacon was burnt to a black, brittle crisp. When my friend asked for more, they brought her an identical plate of bacon. It turns out they batch cook bacon in the morning, so if it's burnt, it's burnt until the end of brunch! Slightly disappointed by that. Overall, though, I would return, hoping for more staff on the floor.
Had a wonderful brunch, service was fast for bottomless mimosas, and the staff were very friendly!
Great Mexican food by Dupont Circle.
Margarita Classica quite good. Happy hour $5
The fajitas and quesadilla were also quite good.
The fact I came twice to same restaurant it was great!
Good Mexican food and drinks.
Good food; attentive service. Happy Hour Apps are a very good value.
Dined here on a Saturday night and found the food quite good - we both had different versions of their enchiladas - one seafood and one pork. The margaritas we ordered to start were way too sweet for our taste so we switched after that to their nice selection of beers, including some unique ones. Also had an impressive list of tequilas, though we didn't partake in those. Service was probably the main issue as we were the only ones actually in the dining room (there were some people at the bar), but yet the server spent more time talking to other idle employes than serving us.
We were there for brunch. The nice thing is that they have both brunch food and "daytime" choices. We started with calamari, which was OK but not special. We also had five different taco fillings. These ranged from OK (carnitas) to marginal (pale strips of "carne asada"). Nothing was at the standard of a good Southwest taco truck, which seems a change in a foodie city like DC.
We ordered the Huevos Rancheros and the Cinnamon French Toast. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the seasoning on the yuca fries, but wish that they were a little thinner (you get four thick fries on the side of some orders). You can also choose breakfast potatoes, but I didn't try them. They also have a great brunch special for unlimited mimosas, poinsettias, and bloody mary's. I will definitely have to take part in that next time. I would definitely recommend this place! The food was really good!
Food was good, especially carnitas sopes. Impressive beer and tequila list. Forgettable fish tacos.
Food was not that great.... Other reviews were accurate in-greasy food & sweet drinks
So glad we found this spot. Dr Pepper Carnitas enchiladas were so tasty my daughter wanted to order more to take back to the hotel. Tostada salad was very light. Strawberry Siracha margarita is a must try! So yummy! Our server, Michelle, was very attentive. Great place!!
Great food, drinks, and chips, really cool atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!
Went in a group of 5, sat outside on a beautiful... service was good... the Dr Pepper Carnitas were an all around hit... the best thing we ordered - in tacos and enchiladas. Yummy!
We just never got our food. Came in with three girlfriends at noon, and at 1:30, we asked the waiter what was up. After one more attempt to speak with the manager, we learned that they were only just then putting in our food. No mention of comping us or apologizing for the long wait. We walked out.
We had a great brunch with excellent service (the credit card machine was down, but they gave as a 10% discount for paying cash). The bottomless drinks are a great deal (and we took full advantage of it!), but the food portions are a little small for the price.
Everything about this restaurant was odd. The margaritas were basic and sugary (Jose Cuervo mix and bottom shelf tequila). The food was hit and miss. Some of our tacos were good, but others were just weird. The staff was off and overall this restaurant just didn't hit the mark
It was a fine location for a brunch with friends. I wasn't blown away by the food or service, but we enjoyed ourselves and the food. It's not a huge restaurant so I recommend either getting a reservation or showing up early.
Worst service I've ever received in DC. Very good food, though.
I was surprised by the great beer selections. However, the food was less than stellar. If you are looking for a place to hang with friends, have some beers, I recommend... just don't go with an high expectations of fine dining.
I took my parents here as a way to show them the cool part of DC. I've been here before, and have always had a fantastic experience. The servers were friendly and accessible, their drafts were interesting and seasonal, and the bottomless drinks are always a hit with guests. I had huevos rancheros, which is great after a morning spent in recovery. Normally not a fan of eggs, they did them perfectly. Their tacos are also amazing, gotta try the dr pepper carnitas! A little pricey, of course, as it is near Dupont in DC. The layout was open, sunlight was abundant, and atmosphere was young, low-key, and modern. As an added touch, music was on point. Definitely a go-to place for lunch
The first time we went to Crios for Brunch, we all got bottomless mimosas, so perhaps we didn't notice all of the issues that we noticed this time. This time however, our server was rude -- he contradicted me when I was ordering my meal: The french toast option has been updated on the menu to include chorizo. As I am a vegetarian, I ordered it sans chorizo and he responded, "there's no chorizo with the french toast." I pointed it out, but he still refused to acknowledge that I was correct. Would he have rather not noted it and then had me return the plate when it arrived with chorizo on it? The other sticking point is that not all entrees come with a side. Had I known that, I wouldn't have ordered overpriced, mediocre yuca fries.
Brunch was great- The entrees were all delicious and hard to choose from. The only reason I deducted a star was because my dish came without one of it's components- but that was remedied quickly. They were very helpful for my Gluten Allergy.
Loved it! I'd definitely go back.
I like the ambiance and the location and the margaritas were excellent and not too pricey. But where the place fell down is the food and service. The food was well presented and well proportioned but the food lacked any real flavor or kick. Rice was bland, beans were fair, entrees were very bland. I go to Mexican food for the spices and flavors and they were not here at all.
As for the service, it was a rather slow Thursday night and there were plenty of staff but it was hard to get their attention, sure Baltimore were in the ALDS for the first time in years, but the staff should not be watching the game.
We loved the taco trio option- all 4 of us got it. The margaritas were tasty, but a little too sweet to have more than one. Service was a bit slow, but overall enjoyed the experience.
I started with a chorizo taco and got the Cuban sandwich. Both were tasty but could have used a spicier salsa. The jalapeno margarita and capirinha were strong. I ended with a double tequila and an Illegal mescal. Service was prompt but uneven. One waitress tried to serve my capirinha to the next table and then ran back to the bar with it, ignoring my waves. I will return to Crios.
The server actually insulted my son for not liking the tacos that they did not make as ordered.
Have been here many times before and really enjoyed the food. A good friend was in town so I suggested Crios as a good place for a bunch of his friends to eat. The service was absolutely terrible. Not only was it slow, it was inconsistent. At first they told us they had no salsa (at Mexican restaurant??) and 15 mins later we had salsa. We asked for more and that took another 15. I could go on about the inefficiencies but the point is, I felt bad for being the one to recommend this place.
Poor service and greasy food- several items on menu not available.
This sunday was my second time having brunch at crios with a fairly large group. Although the server is not my favorite, (we'v had her twice) the food and mimosas definitely outweigh any flaws. I absolutely HATE mexican food. But Crios has the perfect blend of ethnic twists and typical brunch foods we all love. The service is fast and pretty efficient. The crab Benedict is great, egg scramble is awesome and the french toast is crusted and by far the best Ive had in this area thus far. I would recommend this restaurant for an affordable great brunch experience.
The food was delish, drinks were flowing, price was more than reasonable and service was great. Allison was a phenomenal waitress, friendly, attentive and helpful. The brunch crowd was excited about July 4th weekend, and made the experience even better. Def will make this my go to bottom brunch location!
Second time I've gone here for bottomless brunch, and I regret nothing. Latin American cuisine paired with mimosas is a surprisingly delicious combination, and they do it right.
Hair in my quesadilla, which ruined the entire meal for me.
Tuesday's taco special and 1/2 price margarita's made for a great diviner out with my daughter. The salsa that was served at the beginning of the meal was fantastic. I do not live in the area, but I would travel back for some good Mexican food.
Our food was great. The overall appearance of the restaurant was a bit tired and looks like it has been a while since touching up paint, cleaning upholstery in the booths, etc. While our main service provider was very polite, she seemed to have trouble keeping up with the three tables she had. We specifically had to ask for drink refills and flagged down another service staff member to pay our bill after waiting over 15 minutes.
Brunch was great... Large portions. Two drinks they had listed on the menu they no longer carried- which also meant no beer on the unlimited brunch drink menu.
They know what bottomless brunch means. Not just one mimosa per person per serving, they bring you the entire carafe. Much appreciated, Crios.
Poor, unprofessional service. The food was very bland, greasy, and overpriced.
Great mimosas, delicious eggs, tasty carne asada, good service.
I ordered the Sunrise meal and it was delicious, and offered a lot more than I thought. Portions are bigger than expected, but adds more value. The fried yucca and small colored potatoes as sides for brunch were seasoned with something wonderful. Wait staff were attentive, the ambiance was interesting, and it is within walking distance of Dupont Circle, Kennedy Center, view of the Potomac.
