About Le Bistro du Village (fka Crepe du Jour)
Le Bistro du Village was established in 1997 by husband and wife team Mustapha and Donna Snoussi. They had just relocated to Baltimore after living in Paris, France and began their first business by opening an upscale kiosk in the outside atrium of The Village of Cross Keys where they sold crêpes, panini, salads and more. The business was a success and they had acquired the clientele needed which would later support them in the opening of their Mt. Washington restaurant in 2000. The restaurant has expanded with the opening of an all year round heated terrace. Le Bistro Du Village has been part of the "Zagat" restaurant guide since 2003 where they describe dining on the terrace on a long summer evening as "almost feeling like Paris". The owner is often present to greet the guests and assure the quality of the food is at its best.

Had a wonderful first visit to Le Bistro du Village. Our server, Theresa, was wonderful - she gave great recommendations, was very personable and attentive. She made our visit that much more special. The food was delicious - the French onion soup was wonderful and I really enjoyed the Poulet Toulubaisse (sp?) My husband the vegetable soup with the special duck dish, and he said it was amazing. We will definitely return and ask for Theresa for our server!
Everything was delicious! I tried a seafood and puff pastry appetizer and the coq au vin, and my boyfriend had the duck confit. Both were amazing. Their creme brûlée was incredible. I would recommend this place to anyone ready to indulge in amazing French cuisine.
We have been going to 'Le Bistro Du Village' for many years and it has become our 'go- to spot' for birthdays, anniversaries, New year's Eve and just to catch up with friends. In summer we sit out front or on their back patio - love the fact there is 'al fresco' dining.
Not only are food and service always great, but you can actually carry on a conversation with friends without shouting - an absolute rarity in restaurants!
Came here to celebrate our 5 year anniversary, and it was great. We started with the onion soup---you haven't had French onion soup until you've had it here! Our crepes were delicious as well, and the creme brulee was a perfect end to our meal. Will come back again for sure!
Mom's 90th birthday. We ask her what she'd like to do. She wants the mussels and profiteroles she's come to enjoy at this family favorite. It's close, quiet and pleasant, after all. We fly in from California and drive in from Virginia, arrive at 7pm, not exactly late into the evening, and settle in as the rain starts outside. A good night for a long celebratory dinner. Mussels? Sorry, we've run out. Nice start. We decide to stay anyway and order drinks. A nice glass of Sancerre from the menu? Sorry, we're out of Sancerre. We proceed -- it's not like moving Mom at this point is easy. We get through our meals and are eager to order dessert. Profiteroles? We're out of them. Our waiter was great but, clearly, the kitchen let us and him down. We will be elsewhere for 91.
We saw the new name on the front of the restaurant and thought we would give it a try. There are very few French Restaurants in the area.

Should have had a clue when there was only two other tables seated when we arrived.
My wife asked for her ribeye special rare with nothing on it (mushrooms, sauce , and seasoning. What she got was a burnt New Yorker Strip that came out with everything on it. I had the Duck Confit special with spinach and potatoes. The leg and thigh were done perfectly but the breast was beyond rare.I’m not sure it was even cooked! Our server was very apologetic and said that the chef prepares the food his way and sometimes can be very difficult. She told the chef our experience. He came out and said “I did the best I could “ and that the steak was rare when he took it off the grill. He offered to make her a new one “to take home”. We told him , “no thank you” , that we just wanted the check. He then said give me your check and I will take care of the bill. I assumed he was going to comp us for the steak. Instead he took off the glass of wine which to be honest was the only good thing about the meal or our experience. We will definitely not be going back!
i had a bowl of shrimp bisque to start.delish followed by a seafood crepe with nice large sea scallops and shrimp in a sauce and added mushrooms. for desert vanilla icecream with wipped cream covered with melba sauce. every dish was prepared expertly and the servings were generous. if crepes are not your thing there are plenty of other selections. the lady i was with ordered a steak and comented just how tender and juicey it was. the dining area is relaxing and comfortable . the service freindly and well recieved. i confidently can recommend for a fun time.
I made a reservation for outside dining. When we arrived, they were not aware/concerned that there was a reservation. All outside tables were taken so we took an inside one. The food was good but the service was really terrible at all stages of the meal. Our drinks never came, we had to ask about the specials (overheard other server telling her guests) the server never made eye contact on his few trips past our table in the empty dining hall. Then to top it all off, he removed our dessert plate before we were done. It's a pity as the food was pretty good but the experience was not.
The restaurant was very nice. We decided to get crepes since the restaurant specializes in all kinds of the wonderful French pastries. The Crêpe Marie-Antoinette with shrimp, crab, spinach, cream sauce and gruyere was delicious. The shrimp were large and the crab was all lump meat. My dining partner selected the Crêpe Napoléon with mushrooms, onion, garlic, Brussels sprouts & Brie which she enjoyed. We each added a small delicious salad with greens and bleu cheese. The crepes were so large, neither of us could finish them. (I finished mine as dinner the next evening). We did split a piece of tiramisu which was the only culinary disappointment. The dessert was heavy and not very flavorful. With a total of three glasses of wine, the bill came to $85 before tip. Although the waiter was okay, he didn't tell us about specials (which were typed on a plain white piece of paper), didn't know anything about the wines and, all in all, was inattentive to us. We learned more from the man placing candles in the windows than we did from our waiter. I would go back because the food was excellent and the restaurant is close to my home. Also, when we made reservations, we indicated that it was a birthday dinner, but nothing was said to us upon arrival.
After having vacationed in Paris a few months ago I was feeling nostalgic and saw this place come up on the list for restaurant week. I saw they had Chicken Cordon Bleu on the menu, which is my most favorite dish, so we decided to go. They do have a good wine selection and I was happy to find once of my favorites from Champagne. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu but was very confused when it came out because it did not resemble any Chicken Cordon Bleu I have ever had. It wasn't really breaded and was on top of noodles with a mushroom sauce. I was assured by the waitress that this is what I ordered, it's just a better version of it. It was already cut into slices, not left in one piece to keep it from getting dry. It was filled with something green (spinach?) not prosciutto as advertised on the menu. It was more like Chicken Stroganoff, which was just okay, but they shouldn't advertise it as something it isn't. I don't feel like the food was worth the $35 we paid for it and I'm still bitter about the lack of prosciutto. The crepes were good so maybe they should just stick with that instead of the extended menu.
Had a reservation the first Saturday of Restaurant Week. The food was spectacular. Our waiter was very attentive. We both commented on how helpful he was. Restaurant week has a prix fixe menu with three choices. My date had the escargots as an appetizer, I had the gazpacho. Both were fresh and very flavorful. We both had the lamb chops for our entree. The chops were cooked perfectly and the gratin potatoes were enjoyable. The sauce was rich and savory. My only complaint was the lack of a baguette to use for the sauce on my plate. For dessert my date had the chocolate cake and I had the Crepe Suzette since crepes are a specialty. Both desserts were delightful...though after tasting the chocolate cake I wish I had made that my choice as well. I will most definitely be returning. I'm excited to try the rest of the menu.
We went for Sunday brunch when they opened at 10am. I put in a reservation in case they would be busy. But to our surprise, the area was quiet and not busy that morning. We sat inside and were the only guests for a while. There are some outside tables too. The food was good, lots of options, generous portions. It's a bit tight on the inside with all the tables. They have a small kids menu too, which was nice since we did bring our toddler. I liked this place and we'd return again to try their lunch or dinner menu.
